Hello. Here we go again with the same (very) old and (very) annoying story. Windows 7 somehow decides to freeze, forcing me to force shut down. And guess what? That's right. My Firefox session is gone..

What's that? Try to search sessionstore.bak to see if it stored the previous session before it was gone? Ok that'll work. Except that sessionstore.bak even if it has the correct time and it's 2.30 MB it contains nothing more but many many empty spaces.

Tried restoring previous file version method, didn't work. (I probably had this function disabled). Tried Recuva program to restore deleted files, found the correct one (.js) only to be the same with the current (containing spaces). Found another almost 2 weeks old (.js), 3.02 MB, contains weird characters and a list of registry keys that are uncompleted(?). Tried copying the contents of that file to that site "herokuapp" ("When All Else Has Failed" - Why this should not), didn't work probably because there aren't any valid tab websites in there.

So here's a suggestion to Firefox developers and those who are involved with it: The .bak file was a good idea. It stores the previous session when something goes horribly wrong. But what if that file gets corrupted or accidentally replaced? You should add an alternative backup method. Another file that will store the session ONCE at the beginning of EACH new day, even if Firefox had not been shut down. Also add a friendly option to access this file through Firefox from its menu. That will save a lot of headaches, a lot of time and more. I am sure this wouldn't be hard for you. And please do not rely on third-party add-ons for this, it should be an official working function. TABS = FIREFOX, keep the tradition, keep it good.

So, is there really another way of accessing my lost tabs (or websites) without these files? I mean except from going through hell (History), which is considered my only option right now, and I don't even remember most of my tabs. What's even worse I don't keep the pages loaded to save memory avoiding Firefox crashes, Flash plugin crashes and extremely painful slow downs, when I don't quit Firefox for a few days. Unless I am missing something here.

Please help and thanks.

So I updated Firefox a couple days ago. Whenever I open a new tab it take me to this Bing search thing. I Googled how others were fixing this and the about:config thing isn't working. I go to edit the site that will come up I type in about:blank or Google.com and it just stays the Bing search thing.

Any help would be wonderful since I just want to get rid of the new tab that keeps coming up each time >_<

I am using Firefox 28, and either hitting the key combo CTRL+SHIFT+T, or right clicking on the tabs section and choosing "Undo Close Tab" do not work. I have restarted Firefox in Safe mode, with the same result. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox with no fix to this problem. I am not using Tab Mix Plus. Under about:config, both browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo are set to default values. Is there another config file or any other option that may control this setting..?

Thanks.

I am using FF 31.0 on Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. I have a number of FF windows open, one for each project on which I am working. There are some tabs in wndows that I do not want any more. So I either close those tabs or go to other URLs in those tabs. I then cleanly exit FF. But when FF is restarted, the tabs that I had closed or changed URLs re-appear, as if I had done nothing to delete or change them. I assumed that FF, when it exited cleanly, would save all of my current windows and tabs settings, and when I "restored my previous session", I would get the same windows and tabs that I had when I cleanly shutdown. But this is not the case. How do I tell FF to save my current window and tab settings? Thanks.

I downloaded the latest version of Firefox and now I can't right click the mouse on a url and "open in new tab". I would not care to refresh Firefox and loose EVERYTHING I have set up with the browser. I DON"T have the issue when using Chrome. My home page is myyahoo.com and I have a ton of links which do not open in new tab. The ONLY one that does work is opening up mail with the right click and Yahoo mail opens in a new tab. Please advise how to fix this terribly annoying issue with Firefox. BTW, open in new window does work. Thank You.

Observed on the steam marketplace (on activation some older tabs will load an item instead of what used to be a search query listing multiple items, page url changed and no back button available).

For example: The tab url was http://steamcommunity.com/market/search?q=RPG+Maker+card

Browser was then closed.

Sometimes when I come back to that tab in another session the url changes to one of the listings inside (a page that was visited) with no way of going back to the old url.

In this example steamcommunity.com/market/listings/753/220700-No%20Transparency?filter=RPG%20Maker%20card

Also note the %20 instead of spaces.

This happens to about 50% of my tabs. (I have over 50 open) I do not know if this applies to other website, but I would assume it would.

Is this a known issue?

I cannot get Firefox to go full screen. The URL bar and the tabs always remain, only the menus hide correctly.

Toolbars are already set to hide, browser.fullscreen.autohide setting is true, and restart in Safe Mode did nothing.

Can you think of anything else I should try? Would be great to finally enjoy a true full screen Firefox.

All the best
