Browser 49.0.1 will not show up on my computer running XP SP3.
I am running XP SP3 and Firefox just updated to 49.0.1 and suddenly....NO Firefox! I can see that the program is running in the Task Manager Processes but the application… (funda kabanzi)
I am running XP SP3 and Firefox just updated to 49.0.1 and suddenly....NO Firefox!
I can see that the program is running in the Task Manager Processes but the application does not run on my computer. If I try to load it again, another instance will show up in task manager processes - each time it is about 48,000K.
I have tried:
shutting down/restarting ending process/process tree
And I have tried all steps for a clean install with and without uninstalling the application:
-uninstall in the add/remove utility (will not uninstall) -deleting installation directory (will not delete, says it is in use by another person or program) -deleting temporary Firefox data (I could accomplish that) -deleting Windows Firefox prefetch (I could also accomplish that) -re-installing 49.0.1 (yes I can install, but to no avail)
I also tried an online tech support that tried to fix things in safe mode. Futile, and then the computer got stuck in safe mode and would not boot into normal. The computer had to be set for a week ago, which gave me Firefox back at version 48. But even that would not open because of something about XPCOM (sorry I am unable to remember the exact error message).
After that I once more uninstalled and re-installed 49.0.1. It's in my programs. But still nothing. I'm exhausted.
Do I just give up on Firefox? Any other possibilities?
