after updating to firefox 29 and then 29.0.1, the cpu usage that firefox are using are insane,

it ranges between 50%-100% cpu usage.

and it happens even on normal non flash tab,

besides even if the site is using flash, i am using flash block and adblock plus,

so anykind of flash material wont play or uses cpu.

please fix this ASAP, because firefox has now gone from useable to resource hog,

oh and i don't like the new look, because firefox has become more similar to chrome on User interface,

and i don't use chrome, because i don't like the UI, and now firefox tried to be chrome twin ?

i think that's all, thanks in advance.

edit : fixed some typo

Sorry guys, i am disgusted with this upgrade. 29 does not seem like a good ui update at all. The menu bar looks really bad and so does the tab. Furthermore this does not solve my other tab issue i have either in another question i have asked.

How can i revert back to my last version with all my tabs/windows/history restored? I will do a system restore if i have to and then cancel all automatic updates. I honestly dont care if it gives me a bigger security risk.

Please, please revert this retro step in your next version. There's nothing that I'd call an improvement. And a leaky bandaid in the form of an addon is waste of good intentions.

I print several EBAY labels a day. Just upgraded to firefox 29 (not realizing really what had changed - now regretting) and the built in PDF viewer no longer prints properly. It shows the label fine on the screen, but when sending to the printer (I tried two different ones) it just prints out two blanks pages. I tried a number of different printer settings and as i mentioned two different printers. Can't get anything to print now except two blank pages. If I switch the application settings in firefox to use an external 3rd party PDF viewer (e.g. Adobe reader 11, PDF Viewer plus, etc) those work fine. However, the default built in PDF viewer clearly broke in this new version. A very disappointing launch for me as this is critical feature for my use. Yes, I have a work around, but the point (and new bug) is still valid.

But the overall look just stays awful :( Until there is an option where I can get the real and logical version 28 layout back, where is a complete version of FF 28 so I can use a logical layout FF browser?

- Session restore brings up tabs that I had closed before closing Firefox. Sometimes it even selects a tab that I didn't have selected when I closed it.

- Leaking memory like nobody's business. It went from 500 MB to 1.5 GB overnight (i.e. while it was "idling" minimized on the desktop).

- The config.trim_on_minimize setting is missing. Why is this?

- When the memory usage gets above ~1 GB (FYI, this is a guess), I start seeing problems with Firefox displaying web-page graphics and even, in one instance, shutting down text input on a web page (this was within Facebook).

- Randomly crashes for no apparent reason. FYI, this happened after I updated to Firefox 28 as well.

None of these problems ever happened before I upgraded to Firefox 28 and 29. I'm very close to abandoning Firefox altogether if these problems are not resolved promptly and permanently. In other words, I've nearly had enough of this. Whatever happened to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"?

This has been happening for awhile now and I have tried a few things to fix it, but I just can't seem to narrow down the cause of it. Of the course of a session Firefox will open additional processes http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a253/ravenillusion/Screenshot2014-05-14144644_zpsedeb97f0.png. Each of these processes is using around 4MB of RAM and can be closed without affecting Firefox. When you close Firefox these additional processes do not close and will prevent you from reopening Firefox until they are closed. So far the most I have clocked were 50 of them and having to close them manually is a pain. I have tried adjusting my addons and that has not solved the issue. I have a feeling and a believe it is related I am getting an error every time close Firefox:

Before the update, I was able to use Stylish to get this functionality. However, something is broken with how -moz-box-ordinal-group functions. The only valid entries are 0 (places it above the Menu Bar) or !0 (places it at the very bottom).

Neither of those two places are what I desire. Here is what I'm aiming for, from top to bottom:

Menu Bar
Bookmarks Toolbar
Tabs
Address Bar

See this Stylish for a picture of what I used to have:
http://userstyles.org/styles/46274/firefox-4-bookmarks-toolbar-above-tabs-enhanced

So, my question here is, how can I restore this functionality? Having bookmarks below the address bar does not follow logic, in my mind. And this "now things are easy to customize how you want it!" thing that Australis is supposed to allow... doesn't let me customize it how I want it.

Any help would be appreciated, be it a config setting, a plugin, or some CSS I can plug into Stylish.

I woke up this morning to find that firefox updated without my permission. this annoys me. What annoys me the most, however, is not having to re-customize every thing on the toolbar, but the fact that there is NO REFRESH BUTTON. I liked having a refresh button. it was very handy. I liked having it to the left of my address bar. Why can I no longer have a refresh button to the left of the address bar? the only one I can seem to find in imbedded in a very awkward and inconvenient place inside the address bar. I feel this is unacceptable. When looking at the page made to advertize firefox, it stats that it was "Made with a mission to put you first." this is not putting me first. this is taking control away from me and making the interface that much less intuitive. I would like to have my refresh button back. I do not want to have to go through antoher workaround like downloading a classic theme and screwing with that. I just want the refresh button. now, where is the refresh button and how can I place it where I want it to go? it's a simple question, yet I have not found any answer for it anywhere on this site.

(For Forum Moderators: Please read /forums/forum-moderators/710264?last=59300)

Moderators, please read first before closing/removing this topic right away?
To those wanting to react here on this topic: please, also read ;)
Since my original posting https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997009 was closed because one of the moderators felt it was going off-topic (although it was red a lot and had 131 "have-this-problem" in just a few days), here a kind of re-opening but on-topic.
Why? Because I feel we have the right to express our feelings on this major change. And publicly there is actually only this forum where that can be done on the Mozilla.org domain.
Sure, the change is there and we have to live with it (if we choose to). But that doesn't mean we can not have our voice here because after many, many years of supporting FF with our use, we suddenly are facing a layout we were always running away from.
So yes, that can cause ranting and so on (within the forum rules of course) because people feel strongly about there beloved browser.
(edit rules link note the whole topic is ordinarily outside the scope of the forum ... Posts in the Mozilla support forum must be either questions about the use of Firefox, ... Users who post about things other than Mozilla support will be directed to an alternative discussion place .... . ~J99)

Plus this way you can centralize all the negatives here instead of a lot of separate postings about the same subject ;)
To the people reacting here in this topic: there is only 1 real way to let Mozilla itself know how you feel on the new lay out and that is not through this forum. The way is to go to https://input.mozilla.org/feedback/ and let it know there.
edit You need to use a supported Firefox to post Feedback so that will soon not be possible from Fx28 2nd edit. I was wrong feedback works with any version of Fiefpx now~J99

And I think when that is done in normal words (so no f*ck you rants and so on) and suggestions, then maybe, just maybe, it has some effect.
Also, there is an Mozilla support page with info on how to get the "old look" back, see How to make the new Firefox look like the old FirefoxBut it will only partly restore the old look, certain FF29 things can not be changed.

And yes, I myself am back to Firefox 28 which is not supported or suggested by Mozilla because it has things (bugs and security) that are not fixed in it. (Edit Please use Official downloads if you must downgrade links in Install an older version of Firefox and the growing list of exploits you will open yourself up to is listed here: https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html ~J99)

I am not suggesting or advertising to others to do the same. It is a risk I am willing to take and only say it is an option.
edit My reason to go back to FF 28 is because that version still has the intuitive feel and look Firefox one was praised for. With a logical lay out and a good way to simply customize it (also in about:config).
For those who say/think "Come one man, stop whining! Grow up and just accept that Firefox has to go with its time!", to them I say: nope ;)
