I updated my desktop browser today and now there is an expandable sidebar at the left margin of the window showing tool icons for Tabs from other devices, History and Customize sidebar. I can see how to remove tool icons and how to expand or collapse sidebar but can I remove the sidebar completely? Is this an option? I prefer the old look with the browser web page content extending all the way to the left of the screen, without the narrow vertical sidebar.

Is there anyway to configure network.http.rcwn.enabled to false via the policy located in the ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\distribution'' folder?

I stopped using Firefox because of the level of BS Big-TEch involvement and lack of PRIVACY. I've been using BRAVE. But they are'nt much better. So I'll switch between as I feel fit. Just so you know. My recent irritation is Shortcuts. I like the speed and convenience of CHOOSING & USING my shortcuts.

I do NOT like the option of "sites you save or VISIT" That is NO option. I DO not want YOU choosing to save every site I VISIT and loading onto my screen. This is not a choice. Just because I visit a site WHY do you save it to shortcuts? It's a PITA deleting crap I don't want.

You should ONLY save the sites I CHOOSE to add.

MALWARE ? When you are collecting more data than you know what to do with it is Oppressive.

I can see my current usage of Firefox being cut short again at the point of annoyance with this parasitic tech.

Oh and the proccess of creating an account and passwords blah blah just to ask a question that changes sweet FA...... No wonder there's anger. Idiots.

How to change home page and new tab to desired URL or any extension of Firefox desktop in 2025?

I am unable to find any way to change how my new tab should look when I click + sign or new tab is opened up on browser opening or re-opening unlike Chrome.

I hate the change of position of typing from the search bar on the current new tab to the URL bar (unseen or unheard in Chrome) that Firefox implemented without considering users who would detest it.

Hello, in past versions of Firefox, I was able to follow the steps on this page to set a custom HTML file on my PC as my home page for new tabs: https://peterries.net/blog/firefox-ubuntu-local-file/

I have Firefox 107.0.1 now and it's not happening. When I open the browser from scratch, I see my custom home page file. But when I open a new tab, I just see a blank screen. If I then click the Home icon on the toolbar, I do see my custom HTML page, but I don't want to have to click that button for each new tab.

Right now, in my settings, I have the URL to the page set as the custom URL for the HTML fiile, like this:

file:///home/peter/Documents/homepage/peter-home-homepage.html

That works. And I also have followed the steps on that blog post to customize my /usr/lib/firefox/autoconfig.cfg and my ../firefox/defalults/pref/autoconfig.js files. That's no longer working.

Did something in a recent version change? Is this no longer supported? Thanks for any ideas!

How to search for installed (both enabled and disabled) addons extensions in Firefox browser like chrome does via "chrome://extensions/" in 2025?

It is quite surprising that in 2024-25, firefox still doesnt have any option to search for installed addons via "about:addons". You can only search for addon site, not for those installed on your device and profile and browser.

Is firefox team really updating their browser for 2025 when compared to chrome?

I accidentally disabled the keyboard shortcut for media browsing. For example, I was able to fast forward by 10 seconds by tapping the right arrow on my keyboard, but this has now been disabled. I cannot figure out how to get back to settings to re-enable this feature (checked online, in Mozilla support pages and on Mozilla community)

I think I tapped Ctrl + left arrow to bring up the settings box when I accidentally disabled the keyboard shortcut. Any help would be appreciated

How to disable the Enterprise Roots preference-have tried everything I can find on this issue. In summary, deleting certificate via reg edit but this does not work, have to delete certificate every time I re start windows 11 desk top pc.

Why Firefox is unable to bring customising options for homepage and toolbar for mobile users in all these years despite other browsers upping their game with user feedbacks and newer browsers bringing exactly what the users want?

Big phones, too many bookmarks, can't remove or hide home button icon on URL bar, no download manager, no options to add home shortcuts or speed dials on Firefox homepage no navigation buttons at bottom, no DNS, is this Firefox in 2024 and 2025?

The release notes for Firefox version 140.0.1 indicate the extension button can can now be removed from the toolbar.the noes say:

"Firefox Extensions: Customize your toolbar with the option to remove the extensions shortcut, giving you more control over your browser. When the button is hidden, you can access the extensions panel again at any time from the Firefox menu by clicking the Extensions menu item."

I still cannot drag the button down and out of sight by customising the toolbar.

Suggestions welcome.

Why the focus on the search bar on the homepage and new tab automatically shifts to URL bar? I hate this. I cannot find any option to change this. Vivaldi gives us an option to decide what we want unlike Firefox.

Chrome focuses on the search bar on the new tab regardless, duckduckgo browser does same, edge does same, opera does same, Brave does same and Vivaldi does same but gives us option in the settings as in the image below. But Firefox automatically forces it. Why? Looks so cheap.

How to change this? I dont want this. I cannot see what I am typing when it shifts to smaller bar on the URL bar from the search bar.

And most importantly, I cannot change the new tab or homepage with any other search engine, like Duckduckgo or Ecosia or Brave Search, if I had any search engine addon from addon store. Chrome has no such BS show. If I am using Google, then new tab and homepage is of Google. But if I use any search, I have to suffer with underdeveloped same old FF new tab and homepage. Is this intentional or forced?

Edge is opening randomly, might be going back until this is user controlled.

As you can see from the screenshot i provided and as you can read from subject of this very annoying issue Firefox new 130 update has changed my URL bar and now stuff are missing to the point that links to Outlook and some other stuff that were in address bar URL because i wanted them there and now they place has been taken by namely foxovizija.blogspot.com and watchonlyfoolsandhorses.com and ajax.nl/shop just because i watched few episodes of fools and horses on that link same goes for foxovizija and browsed some items in ajax fan shop! I WANT DOES LINK GONE FROM MY URL so i can put links that i want to be in there and FF 130 address bar being populated by only the links i want to be there and stay that way! and one more thing i want to get rid of that ugly search with google thing because i don't even use google,further more once all of a sudden in FF 130 MY BROWSER IS MANAGED BY MY ORGANIZATION ? That was never there before this update ,so with all that has been said and screenshot as proof i beg you and plea on your kindness and knowledge to give me guidance how to fix this URL thing first,then how to remove THIS BROWSER IS MANAGED BY YOUR ORGANIZATION and last but not least how to block further FF updates because every new update is worse then the next and just keep pushing the whole browser down the drain ! Periodically I open Friefox and all my cookies have been deleted. I go into settings to find "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" has been checked (NOT BY ME!) again. This is very annoying as I then have to log into all my websites and go through 2FA. This is annoying to the point that I am posting on this site for help. Next step is find a new browser that doesn't screw up my work-flow randomly for no reason.

I suspect Firefox Relay is not allowing me to sign into a site on the internet. Following instructions I put the Relay Dashboard in my Firefox Settings or so I thought. How do I locate it?
