I'm having an issue wherein clicking the on-screen back button in the toolbar does not immediately navigate to previous webpage that was viewed. From my recollection and in all my years of computing, I have always understood that the original purpose of a browser's back button was to return to the page, not to reverse any scroll actions. However, someone has changed this.
The problem is that the back button isn't navigating to the previous page, but rather undoes any scroll actions that were performed on the current page being viewed. Once all scrolling is undone, it's back at the the top of page again (default scroll position). Only by clicking the back button one more time will it actually go to the previous page. However, this is not the desired behavior. The desired behavior is that clicking the back button just once should be all that is required to get to the previous page, skipping any scroll actions that were performed on the current page.
I see other articles talking about what happens when you use the scroll wheel and/or mouse buttons. That is not what I am talking about here. I'm only talking about what happens when you click the graphical back button (which looks like a left arrow) on the toolbar. It's the built-in back button in Firefox.
Does anyone know how to restore the button's original functionality?

One of my jobs requires me to download work related documents on my personal pc. I would like to assign the website of the platform we use to download those files in a specific folder so i could delete them easily afterwards. Are there any plans to add such a feature to the browser? Is there a way to do it already? (without having to use the "always ask" option) Thanks in advance. Cheers from Uruguay

I've noticed over time Mozilla has become less focused on consumer privacy and more focused corporate interests.
My questions are to you developers of Mozilla.
Would you have reached success in the past using this model?
I've noticed a corporate trend of brands being consumer friendly in the beginning of their history then over time snubbing the customers in favor of getting paid to sell data to corporate interests, data brokers and government entities.
Should we trust you?
I've been using Firefox for almost 20 years and anyone can agree that this browser isn't getting better over time.
Can you provide a list of all the third parties you deal with selling our data?
I have a nagging feeling this isn't the browser it used to be and some of us will need to change to a less corporate focused browser to protect our data, since it seems you aren't interested in that model anymore.

OK when I restart firefox, or have been using it for a while, I might decide that I'd like to close a TAB or maybe even a heap of them.
Trouble is that someone has decided that when people close a TAB, the one to the right, automatically reloads.
I don't want to reload a TAB I am not currently using, I just want to close the TAB or TABS, that I am no longer using.
Stop doing this really retarded "Oh we think this is a good idea to automate things - you don't want, don't need and have not asked for, with the typical NO choose to switch it on, and NO off switch".
Seriously provide the option to turn this function on, and to turn it off.
AND up till the day this never happens, is there a switch in the about:config to turn this highly undesirable and useless function off?

An e-banking site that worked in Firefox for years no longer works in 145.0 under Ubuntu Studio 24.04.1 This is the help page for the error I am receiving: https://support.mozilla.org/1/firefox/145.0/WINNT/en-US/connection-not-secure However, the error message I received (see attached image) is not listed there. Since the e-banking site hasn't changed in ages, I suspect instead something in one of the recent Firefox updates. The site works fine in Safari under Sequoia 15.5 on a MacBook Air, and I can login in Firefox, so I doubt that there is a problem with the site's security certificate. Since both the MacBook Air and the Ubuntu PC are on the same LAN, I also doubt any network obstruction. I haven't found a wax to get any more detailed error information and would be grateful for tips on how to do so. Meanwhile, I would like to at least change from the standart Firefox release to the ESR veersion, but find no information on how to do so. I have currently set up Firefox to be pulled from the instructions in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux#w_install-firefox-deb-package-for-debian-based-distributions-recommended under "For Debian Trixie and Newer" How can I switch from my current Firefox under Ubuntu to an ESR release?

I have an Investors.com account and a feature they offer is a stock sector data table that shows recent performance and other information. When I try to open these tables they close immediately, but if I use my tablet with a different browser they will remain open. I believe this is a simple setting that I need to adjust, but I don't know enough to figure it out.

Fedora 42 x86_64, firefox 145.0
Using FontForge, I created a custom Unicode (NO 8-bit pi encoded) version of the Symbol typeface with a new font-family name.
One of the customizations, the serif versions of the "Registered Sign", "Copyright Sign", and "Trademark Sign" are available by the official Unicode codepoint. The sans-serif versions are available by the official Unicode codepoint *directly* followed by U+200B (Zero Width Space - ZWSP).
This is done with the OpenType contextual alternative feature (calt).
It works in the FontForge metrics test window and it works in Chromium and derivatives but it does not work in FireFox - either the Fedora 42 build or the generic x86_64 build from Mozilla.
I tried the CSS setting:
body { font-feature-settings: "calt" on; }
No dice. I believe that's the right CSS setting because if I change the "on" to "off" then it no longer works in chromium and derivatives, so that does seem to the be the CSS setting that controls whether or not the feature is enabled.
All my searches on the web seem to indicate the FireFox supports calt however all the examples I see are related to swashes which are enabled/disabled by a different CSS setting.
I did see some indication that some apps only allow calt for certain language scripts, typically Arabic and/or Greek and/or Latin and perhaps these legal glyphs aren't considered one of those scripts?
Does anyone know why the calt works elsewhere and not in FireFox? Yes, I tried without any extensions or plugins enabled.
