Hello,

in our environment we have different Citrix PVS Images and would like to use the same gpo for firefox for all Images.

As we live in a multilingual country, we need to distribute german and italian languagepacks for firefox. We used the firefox.cfg with the following settings to achive this goal:

lockPref("extensions.blocklist.enabled", false); lockPref("extensions.autoDisableScopes", 0); lockPref("intl.locale.requested", "");

XPI Files where copied to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\extensions\sample.xpi

With the release of Firefox 73.0, sideloading is no longer possible. Adding the extension trough GPO "Extensions to Install" https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/3541579/italiano_it_language_pack-75.0buildid20200403170909-fx.xpi is not the way i would like to achive this.

Documentation (https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates#extensionsettings) isn't exactly clear how to add an extension from a local source. GPO Setting would be Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Install\2 = "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\extensions\langpack-de@firefox.mozilla.org.xpi"

A web app I am building seems to be broken in Firefox. It loads ok the first time, but not the second.

I checked the console and I found I get an error message that says:

Loading failed for the <script> with source “https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/vue/dist/vue.js”.

I tried loading the URL https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/vue/dist/vue.js in another tab, and it loads ok the first time, but if I reload it I get a security error:

Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

and when I hit advanced I see

Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue. [...] Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

and under view certificate:

https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/vue/dist/vue.js Peer’s Certificate issuer is not recognized.

Neither Chrome nor Safari seem to be affected.

Another weird symptom is that pictures on stackoverflow are all broken.

I appreciate any help - thanks.

I am working on automating some uninstalls of Firefox to push everyone to the latest and greatest ESR version for easier support. In doing so, I am having an extremely difficult time finding a good uninstall process for the computers on my domain.

Let us assume we are working with 1 computer running a CMD locally to try and remove it. It needs to be silent, no UI.

I am unable to get the uninstall to kick off silently using any of the following: "c:\Program files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe" /x /qn "c:\Program files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe" /x /q msiexec.exe /x /qn "c:\Program files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe" /quiet

In each case the uninstaller UI comes up and asks me to click "next" and then "finish". Does anyone have a suggestion to make this run silently?

I did find a web page that suggested the best course of action to be to delete the files completely and it would leave the registry entries, throwing off audits unless i remove them with scripts.

Any suggestions are welcome.

I have installed an addon by adding a key-value to the registry under the following path similar to Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Install\1 = "https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/somefile.xpi" I want to uninstall the same extension. Hence I am adding another key-value pair under this- Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Uninstall\1 = "addon_id" I am getting the addon_id by clicking on debug addons, from the list I copy the extension id of my addon. ( I am assuming this is what is meant by addon id). But no matter how many times I try this, on different machines, different addons it's not working. The addon doesn't et uninstalled.

Due to our company security rules we tend to disallow all extensions/plugings. But it should be possible for users to install by there own some specific -from our Security departement approved- extensions.

With other words: Blacklist=* Whitelist=xxxx, yyyy, zzzz, and so on

We install FF "naked" and configure it via GPO. The above mentioned requirement should also be handled via GPO

We have the latest Firefox running on our terminal servers on Microsoft Server2012. Each users session has been restricted from accessing any local resources on the server including the c:\ users folder. When opening a file associated with an application I notice Firefox sends the file to the local server drive and the users cannot open the file I have already set the download location to another folder but this gets bypassed by the open with option. Is there any way to force the tmp downlead to another location such as a mapped drive?

Hi, after many days spent to find out how to get my unsigned add-on to work, I'm able to run it only once after first installation.

Here is what I did: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1273813

Add-on works either in debug mode, loaded from file and installed via policies.json until I close browser. Next time I run FF my add-on is not invoked at all.

manifest.json file contains this directive:

 "browser_specific_settings": {
   "gecko": {
     "id": "myaddon@domain.local"
   }
 }

Probably I miss something, but I did not find it in documentation. Any help will be appreciated Thanks in advance

I found how to view browser activity during restart, you can view it here: https://pastebin.com/pB2qBpR2 Thanks

Hi, I am preparing a firefox enterprise installation on windows server 2019 with a special configuration and a preinstalled extension. This is a single installation that will be used by all users accessing the server.

Here are the steps I followed:

  1. I installed firefox: Firefox_setup_68.1.0-esr.msi
  2. I transferred our policies.json file to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\distribution
  3. I transferred our autoconfig.js file to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\defaults\preferences
  4. I transferred ourextName@ourdomain.local.xpi file to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\extensions.

By running FireFox, I can see that both the policies and the configurations have been correctly considered, while the extension does not work.

After doing various tests I can say that:

  • the extension is correctly loaded and enabled, in autoconfig.json there are these directive:
   pref("extensions.autoDisableScopes", 0);
   pref("extensions.enabledScopes", 15);

  • the extension is not signed, but in the autoconfig.json file there is the directive:
   pref ("xpinstall.signatures.required", false);
  • trying to install the extension from the Add-ons Manager using the item: Install Add-on from file ... It works correctly. Unfortunately I can't use this option, because Extension is installed only for current user.

So, given that the extension works, what's wrong with the preparation procedure, is the directory wrong or some configuration are missing?

Do preinstalled extensions need additional files or a different layout?

I also tried without our policies.json file and leaving only the directive that allows xpi file without signature in the autoconfig.json file and autoDisableScopes/enableScopes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hello. I have installed an add-on using a GPO. However, after upgrading to Firefox 68, my add-on is getting an installation error. Is it impossible to install by GPO on Firefox 68? If not, why is not it installed?

I attached the part that I confirmed by connecting to about: policies. Installation via download, not GPO, is installed normally, below is the installation link. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/3365031/gradius-7.3.11-fx.xpi?src=devhub

In the case of GPO installation, my add-on as well as other add-ons are not installed.

Please check the issue. Thank you.

My organization uses Firefox ESR. Most users have 60.9.0esr. When they look in about:preferences it says this version is "up to date" when they check for updates. However, it appears that a newer ESR channel release, 68.1.0esr, is available. Why isn't that being offered to ESR channel users on 60.9.0esr? This is causing some problems for us because new funcitonality in one of our core applications does not work in 60.9.0esr but does work in Firefox 68+. Will firefox push 68.1.0esr to users currently on 60.9.0esr as an update, and if so, when?

Hello !

I'm trying to create a GPO that would set the default search engine of Firefox ESR 68.1 to Qwant by using the Default Search Engine policy. My problem is after the initial installation, if I change manually the search engine in the options (about:preferences) for some other search engine (Bing for instance) it does not revert to Qwant when I run the gpupdate /force command to apply my GPO once more. Is this an expected behaviour ?

I have also observed, while Qwant is the default engine, that if I edit my GPO and set the Default Search Engine policy to Bing the search engine will change to Bing on Firefox when I apply the GPO (using the same command as before : gpupdate /force), and if I change it again to Qwant in the GPO and apply it, Qwant will be set as the default search engine for Firefox.

Therefore I don't understand why as long as I don't modify the GPO the Default Search Engine policy don't seem to be applied even when using the /force in the command line (which is supposed to apply all the parameters if I am not mistaken).

Other informations : - The default search engine is, as expected, set to Qwant when I install Firefox and there is no profile - The default search engine reverts to Qwant when I use the Refresh Firefox button in the Troubleshouting Information

I hope I was clear in my explanations and thanks those who will answer to my post ! :)

I am looking for a preference setting in one of the configuration files, preferably user.js, to tell Firefox to open pdf files using "Adobe acrobat (default)" rather than the built in viewer. I can do it through the user interface, but I need to push the setting to multiple users. I noticed that when I manually change the setting, pdfjs.enabledCache.state is changed from true to false. But that does not seem to be the only setting that changes.
