This might also belong under accessibility. Or how to organize the screen? At this point I cannot get some messages because there is no space left for it. This has happened gradually but now its impossible. I will attach a screen shot to show the problem. Wouldn't it be nice if we could filter all emails in our INBOX by their date received/sent, then Select All, and move them to an Archive folder? If only by YEAR, say 2023, then into that Archive sub-folder - this would make emptying one's INBOX easier. Or am I an idiot, and this is already possible?

I was using a web mail client and it deleted my inbox. I have a backup of Inbox and Inbox.msf file on my local computer and keep copying it into the correct folder, but every time I start Thunderbird, it syncs from the server down and deletes all the messages in my inbox file.

How do I tell it to sync the local messages back up to the server or is there a good/better way to do it?

I’ve been using Thunderbird 115 (Supernova) and noticed that the message list no longer shows a preview/snippet of the email body. In earlier versions, this was available as the “Message Preview Text” column, but in Supernova neither Table View nor Cards View currently display snippets.

For many users (myself included), having a one‑line preview of the message body is an important part of quickly scanning the inbox — it’s a feature Outlook and other clients provide, and it makes Thunderbird much more efficient to use.

Could you confirm if this feature is planned to return in a future release? If so, is there an estimated timeline? Even a rough idea would help us understand whether to wait for it or look for alternatives.

Thank you for all your work on Thunderbird — it’s a great project, and I appreciate the effort that goes into keeping it modern and usable.

There surely must be a way to permanently disable the nag for "Alternate text" when editing an image in an email? I don't want it, need it, use it... There use to be an extension for it, but that is obsolete by now. Can it be done in the Config editor?

Hello, I just moved my email host from Microsoft to Bluehost and I am having trouble getting Thunderbird set up correctly. I can send and receive from Bluehost webmail, and I can receive in Thunderbird, but not send. I can reply successfully, but all sent mail from Thunderbird shows as sent but never arrives.

I am running Windows 10 and using Thunderbird 140.7.1esr

I do not understand how profiles work, and hence don't know how to fix my problem. I had a problem with my printer connection, and tried to solve it by rolling back my Linux O/S, (using Timeshift) to a date prior to the printer not connecting. (It didn't help.) But what it *did* do was to screw up my TB, which when I tried to open it, after the roll-back, complained that the TB profile was "newer", and I needed to create a new one. I did this, but then found that all my old emails had disappeared and it had started a complete new collection of emails, and all the mail folders had disappeared . I went back to the data backups from prior to the rollback, (using Cronopete), and was able to find the TB profile (and 5 years' worth of old emails) in the .Thunderbird folder in the Home directory. And I have pursued the profile manager in TB, and located the profile from before my roll-back. But I can't figure out how to recover this old one. I have a button "Set as Default", (I hesitated to commit to this - should I?), and another for "Launch Profile". But when I click on this last, it drops right back into the requirement to create a new profile. I already have one new profile, (which was created when I tried to sign on to TB after the roll-back.) I can't see much point in making yet another one. And I don't really understand how the data are stored in the profile in any case. (emails seem to be in a Mail folder, but are scattered about in a whole series of sub-folders and files within the Mail folder). And some of the numbered "profiles" seem to refer to things other than Thuderbird, (they lack any folder named "Mail".)

I am using T-bird on a Mac. I set up for a gmail account. I can send emails but do not receive replies, etc. I noticed there is no mail inbox for the account. Settings appear correct. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Is it possible to copy just the Mail folder from a Thunderbird Profile backup in Time Machine on Mac? I have deleted an email account from Thunderbird and I did not tick Delete Data so the emails are still there in my Profile but they no longer show up in the tree in Thunderbird on my Mac ( OS 14.8 Sonoma). I had a lot of subfolders into which I had put incoming and sent emails on particular topics. For example I had a folder called Family, and inside that I had a subfolder called Birthdays as well as many other family related topics. My last Time Machine back up is about a month ago but that would be good enough to restore from. I tried ‘Import’ in Thunderbird but it only imported the main folders and the emails within but not the subfolders. I have another email address besides the deleted one and if I overwrite the whole Profile with the older one from Time Machine it will lose a lot of new stuff accumulated since that backup. Any help most appreciated

I have a desktop, a laptop, and a cell phone. If I have the application installed on these devices, and setup my email account (POP3 protocol), can I have the application setup such that they are synchronized in any ways?

e.g. if I send an email from the Desktop, will it appear in the Sent folder in other devices? e.g. if I receive an email from the mobile app, will it appear in the Inbox in other devices?

I ask because I do not see that but I do not know if it is a problem with my settings.

My hard drive is going to have to be replaced, how do I move everything to a new hard drive. I pay my bills from folders I have added in 'Tbird so it is imperative that I move it all intact AND that I have access to all of it after I do manage to relocate it to a fresh hard drive. Have been using Thunderbird on my laptop. Comcsst just changed their email system to yahoo email. I have followed instructions and changed it on my IPhone. When I did that my Thunderbird on my laptop no longer works. What do I need to do? I have used this forum before and know that the responses will be very helpful.and therefore I will express my thanks and appreciation beforehand. Thank you

So, from time to time I need to find a sent email, it is not in my sent folder, I check my settings and there it is, I then set it to use my sent folder on the IMAP server, this works for a while, but then seems the next time I want to find something in the sent folder it has reverted back. Any Thoughts?

My junk email has increased dramatically lately. I'm sure it's just life on the internet but I'm trying to figure out if clicking "unsubscribe" actually does anything. I've been putting all the emails that I click "unsubscribe" into a separate folder. I'd like to sort the folder by the email address of the sender. However, when you click on the "from" selection in the message window it gives you the entire entry that the sender put in the send section. In other words I see "The Scary Law, Thomas T. from NFE <daily@today.newfinanceera.com>". Is there a way to get a column that just shows the "<daily@today.newfinanceera.com>" so I can sort on that item?

In my Thunderbird, I accidentally deleted the Menu Bar from the new Draft box e.g. including Reply, Delete, Print, Save etc, and I can't link my draft with my Contacts to enter the email address of the recipient.
