Since the latest update 128.2.0 I am getting message "The certificate for pop3.go-plus.net is not valid for that server. Someone could be trying to impersonate the server and you should not continue." when I try to receive emails. Everything worked fine up until today, even though I had to click an "Certificate Exemption" box after re-starting. How can I get to receive emails? They appear to send ok.

Hi, I have configured 2 accounts for E2EE using OpenPGP. I can send signed emails &/or encrypted messages between the 2 accounts. However, if I send a "normal" message i.e. no signing & no encryption selected, it arrives as not signed (correct), but encrypted according to the "Show message security" icon. If I send a normal message to an account that has no known encryption setup, then the message arrives and the "Show message security" button is missing (correctly).

Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks for your help.

I hope I’ve chosen the correct category. I believe this qualifies as a bug following the recent update.

When I opened Thunderbird today, it notified me about the update. While Thunderbird successfully fetches new emails, it fails to display them correctly.

As shown in the screenshot, the area where the email content should appear is completely white. Additionally, it incorrectly displays an attachment from an old email that has nothing to do with today’s email (10:13), aside from the fact that both were sent to me.

When I click on other emails in the same inbox, the content area doesn’t change—it remains blank. However, if I switch to a different inbox, everything works fine.

I’ve also double-checked using my phone’s mail app, and I’m able to open the email in that inbox without any issues.

I’m unsure how to fix this. Could someone more knowledgeable help me out?

I use Thunderbird 128.2.0esr (64-bit) to read mail from the Outlook server; these are the folder mappings:

imap://<email>@outlook.office365.com/INBOX imap://<email>@outlook.office365.com/Sent imap://<email>@outlook.office365.com/Drafts imap://<email>@outlook.office365.com/Trash

I used to also be able to read the Junk Email folder from the Ourlook server the same way, but the folder disappeared from my Thunderbird a couple of months ago. I tried re-adding it as a sub-folder, which is how I created it in the first place, but it won't appear on the list.

I'm not sure what else to do here. I don't know where the Thunderbird directories are stored locally any more, I'm using Ubintu 24.04.

I had a problem with a new upgrade for TB and was asked by another moderator on this site to update my version of TB (128.1.1esr 64-bit) to v128.2. My version of TB did not recognize the need for an update and so I downloaded and installed TB 128.2. It successfully installed as an upgrade but in a wholly different folder under C:\Program Files\MozillaThunderbird. The previous instance of TB, 128.1.1, was installed in a different location under C:\Program FIles\WindowsApps\Mozilla Thunderbird. Under control panel I see only one instance of TB and that is the new v128.2. Under Windows Settings, Apps and Features, there are two instances of TB.

Both instances appear to be seeing the mail profile so the only thing I want to know is if it is possible and how to remove the old version of TB without losing the mail profiles. Or do I uninstall the new version and roll back? In any event I do not want to lose a mail profile with years of information.

Hi,

I am running Thunderbird 128.2.0esr (64-bit) on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

Since around the beginning of September, I find that my Local Folders, which still seem to be storing new emails ok in Thunderbird, are no longer mapped to my "~/.thunderbird/<profile name>.default/Mail/Local Folders" directory tree.

Thunderbird seems to have changed its behaviour in this regard around the start of September.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Any idea where the "Local Folders" emails might now be stored on disk?

This is what I tried - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-date-time-formats-thunderbird I added these formats to Config - intl.date_time.pattern_override.connector_short = {1} {0} intl.date_time.pattern_override.date_short intl.date_time.pattern_override.time_short They had no effect, see screenshot for before and after. 08:42 for today's time and date = good. 9/3/2024, 09:11 the comma is unnecessary, I want it gone, otherwise good. Monday, September 2, 2024, 17:12 after 7 days ultra verbose? Am I missing something?

I have Thunderbird installed [via Flatpak](https://flathub.org/apps/org.mozilla.Thunderbird) and suddenly it's not recognizing the profile that contains the email accounts. When launching it is showing the welcome wizard instead.

The file system contains quite a few profiles though:

``` $ cd ~/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/cache/thunderbird $ du -h --max-depth=1 6.8M ./i58nuv2e.default-release-1 813M ./r77u2ylw.default 6.7M ./w92uxxz8.default-release 0 ./jncleef4.default 6.5M ./fbs6wcvl.default-release 0 ./lz1kt9ot.default 6.9M ./tv1kaebo.default-release 0 ./7f6s4la8.default 839M . ```
but `about:profiles` shows only `tv1kaebo.default-release` and `7f6s4la8.default`.
I'm pretty sure that I didn't do anything but updating the Flatpak and I definitely didn't change any Thunderbird settings or anything in its data directories.
The correct profile is `r77u2ylw.default` (its directory size is 813M while the others are less than 7M).
Hence I'd like to know how can I make Thunderbird use that profile and avoid that issue happening again?
    • PS:** And what's the best way of cleaning up profiles, since I only need one profile anyway? The Thunderbird UI doesn't even recognise all of them, so would be deleting them sufficient?
I have a lot of IMAP folders with a lot of old mail. In order to reduce remote server space usage I would like to move all mail older than 30 days to its equivalent local archive folder.
I can do this easily on a per-folder basis by selecting messages and selecting Organise > Archive from the right-click menu. But if I use the search facility to get all mail in all folders older than 30 days, there is no option to move the selected mail to its equivalent local archive folder.
Is there any way to achieve this?
Not a question, a suggestion. On the help page for using OAuth2 in Thunderbird, there are 2 things not specified. 1. In the SMTP settings, I couldn't select OAuth2 untli I changed the server from something older to, if I remember right, smtp.office365.com. The old entry was more like smtp.outlook.com. Then I had to close and restart Thunderbird. 2. Tbird still couldn't access my Outlook mail account. On Microsoft's security page, I had to create an "app password" and enter that in Thunderbird instead of my previous Outlook password. Either I made an error, or the first app password didn't work and I had to create another app password; that time it succeeded.
