When I use my PC (main device) Thunderbird shows individual mail folders, on my iPad the default mail client as well as individual account folders has an 'All Inboxes' This is very useful as 95% of my mail will go to one account .... so having an 'All folders' account ensures I don't miss a mail arriving on a less used account.

Is there a way to set this up on Thunderbird?

Hi there,

I'm using Thunderbird beta (currently 131.0b6) and since the penultimate version, no mail appear in the list of mails anymore. The count of new mails is displayed but not the mails themselves. (Last mail to date: 18/09/2024 at 15:33 – more than 40 mails received since that date, all having been counted but never displayed)

What I checked:

- imap configuration - message filters - deletion of .msf files (with thbd closed) -> all old emails disappear - forced sync of trash and junk folders - displayed unread folders, including 'Show / discusions / ignored' - created empty profiles in the beta version (Debian 12 and Windows 11) => same issue - opened a ticket on Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1920376)

I created an empty profile in the stable version (128.2.3esr on Win11 & Debian 12) => no problem

Thanks for any hint you could provide me with

Microsoft outlook warned that I will no longer be able to use thunderbird after Sept 16th unless I use Oauth. I've tried changing settings to allow Oauth, but it's not listed as an option fot outgoing mail. Is this because I'm running windows 7? Is there any way around this, I want to keep win 7?

Thanks...

This is a continuation of a problem I reported earlier... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1442170

Updating to version 115.9 did not solve the problem. Today I updated to 115.10.1 and the problem persists. Thunderbird is also recommending that I update to version 116, but I don't even see that listed on the Mozilla web page for the change logs.

Thunderbird 115.10.1, Mac OS 10.13.6, iMac 20-in Early 2008 model.

I can open Thunderbird and check mail in multiple accounts. If I close the Thunderbird window (but leave the app running), CPU usage will eventually jump up to more than 100%. It does not happen right away, but could take 10 minutes or so. Currently it is at 115% processor usage. If I open the Thunderbird window again, the processor usage drops to under 8%, then drops again to below 0.4%.

but TB is incapable of sending email. Either I got dialog https://software9119.technology/__other/tb/dialog.png or error https://software9119.technology/__other/tb/timed-out.png.

I tried cleaning cache and made some re+/search with no avail. There seems to exist some Authenticated SMTP but this is only available on Exchange 365 while this is my personal Outlook.com account.

I've been using Thunderbird for several years now without any issues, and I currently have the latest version installed. I typically have multiple email accounts logged in. Recently, I tried adding a Gmail account, but it wouldn’t log in, showing the error: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password."

I’ve tried the usual fixes like closing and reopening Thunderbird, clearing cache files, and even searching online for solutions. Based on what I found, I’ve tried turning off VPN/antivirus, changing the default browser, clearing browser data, and, finally, uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird after removing all my email accounts.

Now, I’m unable to log in to any of my accounts, which were working fine before. Can anyone guide me on how to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance!

HI, I have TBird 102.15.1 64Bit installed on several different PCs and laptops. On my main Laptop I checked the Roaming\Thunderbird folder properties and found the following: Size on Disk: 35.8 GB Contains 253,172 files and 1,533 Folders. Is their anyway I can reduce the size? My TBird seems to be running slowly and occasionally stalls. I do not want to switch back to Outlook client program, I am not a Microsoft supporter. I do know I could move mail to local folders but would that mean I could only access them from one machine? Thanks.

I've never knowingly installed a non-mainline thunderbird, but earlier this week I started getting the following when I open Thunderbird:

This is an unsupported version of Thunderbird!! Thunderbird monthly releases are not considered stable for general use. Use at your own risk, this build is the same quality as Thunderbird Beta.

Checking the version of thunderbird.exe It says its v131, which happens to be the same as the copy of Firefox installed. When I remove and reinstall Thunderbird it starts off as 128 but quickly changes to 131, even after uninstalling Firefox. (Also annoyingly, this stomps on the version in the profile, which 128 claims is no longer compatible, because Thunderbird isn't clever enough to save a copy of files when it makes "breaking" changes to user files)

I wouldn't being on 131 if actually worked, but it gets stuck in the handshake with my IMAP server, and doesn't even show the local folder caches. (It also for some reason shows the window controls on left side of the window title bar, rather than the right).

How can I restore standard functionality?

I have been having problems with Thunderbird ever since I updated from Windows 7 to Widows 10 about 6 weeks ago. But these problems have become overwhelming recently. I have latest version of Thunderbird 128.3.2esr (64 bit). An unusual aspect of my setup is that I do not keep my Thunderbird profile on my C Drive but on another drive. I need to keep many of my emails so I have a large Archives with the emails kept by each year. I also have a large number of emails in Local folders from a previous email software I was using. Over the last few days I deleted a large number of emails from these Archive files to try to reduce the size of them. I also deleted a lot of emails from my current Inbox (as well as moving emails from there to Archives). But my Thunderbird has started to play up in ways I cannot understand: 1. Thunderbird has created about 10 new folders with names like Inbox-1, Inbox-2, Inbox.msf-1.compact-backup, etc. There is even a folder called Trash-1 2. Inbox-3 has one message in it which is one line of garbage - but the size of the folder is reported as 3.8GB! Inbox.msf-1.compact-backup has 1 message in it which is full of garbage and is reported as 6.1MB 3. My Deleted box got large in the process of doing the above. So I have emptied it several times. But the size of the Deleted box keep growing and has now reached 102 GB! I have compacted the Deleted Box and it does nothing. 4. Multiple copies of some of my emails are turning up in my Inbox - some as many as 6 or 7 copies. As a result the size of my Inbox keeps growing. I tried using a Thunderbird Extension that removes duplicates but, although it correctly identified all the duplicates, it stopped functioning when I clicked OK to remove the duplicates. 5. Needless to say that Thunderbird also at times excruciatingly slow and frequently freezes (with "(Not responding) showing on the Thunderbird window. 6. At one stage there were 1000s of message which were dated 1/1/1970 and were blank. I think I have deleted most of those. Using Windows Task Manager, I can see that CPU and Memory usage are always blow 50%. The Disk that the Thunderbird profile is on is sometimes at 100% and sometimes at a low %. But this does not seem to correlate with what I am actually doing. For example right now as I am typing this message, it is showing 100% active time and disk transfer rate of 450kb/sec but I am not doing anything with Thunderbird and the Thunderbird Activity Manager is showing no activity. But another time I could be trying to delete or move emails and it shows a low % of active time on that disk. I have looked through this support site and tried the following suggestion: I have put the Thunderbird profile in the exceptions section of my Antivirus software I have deleted global-messages-db.sqlite and allowed Thunderbird to rebuild indexes I have disabled all extensions as well as the extension I mention above for removing duplicates. I tried opening Thunderbird in Troubleshoot Mode and Windows in Safe Mode. Thunderbird operated more quickly but the problems did not resolve. Bewildering? I have been using Thunderbird for 10 years but after 6 weeks or so of problems and many frustrating hours, I am looking around for alternative email software but I don't want to go to Outlook. Does anyone have any suggestions for email software that can deal with large Archives?

I'm a Thunderbird novice.

I had Thunderbird working to allow me to read and write messages to the Quicken newsgroup.

Something went wrong (Thunderbird was displaying the Quicken newsgroup name twice - in the left column), but clicking on either of the displayed names produced a blank screen. It did not matter what the read/unread setting said: no messages diaplayed.

So I tried reinstalling Thunderbird - which is requiring me to set everything up again. I struggled to get setup the first time, and this time I'm getting almost nowhere.

First: Thunderbird setup my email account even though I don't want to use Thunderbird for my email. I'm hoping that's just a minor annoyance, though I'd like to get rid of the Thunderbird email account.

But I am not getting anywhere setting up the Newsgroup.

I'm trying to use www.eternal-september.org to get messages from the newsgroup alt.comp.software.financial.quicken - which was working fine before I had to reinstall.

Is there a simple step-by-step guide I can follow to achieve my goal.

I get a message like this every time I start Thunderbird. The topic came up last year but the conclusion was along the lines of "...this problem will be fixed in version 128" but it was never clear whether or not the User followed Mozilla's support replies or what they had to do to clear the email message from Thunderbird. .....Well I'm running version 128.1.1esr and the problem still exists.

My questions:

1. What is Thunderbird trying to do? Compact individual email files? Compae from ct the whole Thunderbird Profiles folder?

2. Is the problem the size of the Profiles folder or the overall size of the hard drive the Profiles folder resides on? What is the Hard/solidstate drive is the maximum?

3. Is the problem related to the amount of Free Space left on the Hard/solidstate drive or is the issue the number of individual files?

4. Is the issue related to the number of Thunderbird files and/or folders OR is it related to the total number of files and/or folders on the hard drive?

5. Is there a limit to the number of sub-folder levels that Thunderbird can navigate?

Thank you.

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Request failed: Mailbox unavailable-verify address. Address is okay.

This seems to be covered in several archived cases. Solution being to change name of outgoing SMTP server. so that each account is associated with a different SMTP server. I have three yahoo accounts. One is legacy AT&T. No issue at this time Cannot send on Acct B. It has all account settings same as account A. When I attempt to change SMTP outgoing server on account B to the newly named SMTP server It chanes both accounts to new name, Sets new name as default and account B is still unable to send.

This is a new problem. Been a Tbird user since it's inception. V128.3 Windows 10 up to date

thunderbird version 2024 - toolbar customization: missing: "delete" and "junk"

Dear ,

we send a note as i handle average day, some 1000 emails in thunderbird.

for handling this , we use thunderbird last 10 years, where as the mail toolbar is:

previous - next - (delete ) - (junk )

In all versions up to 2023 , we would install above 4 (four ) settings on one line after each other.

In the new version from 2024 , the settings between: ( ) , are no longer in the main possibilies, but

we must use these settings on the line under; which takes far more time than all on one line.

Is it possible to have the ( ) settings, in the next new version , back again , like before ??

Nice greetings,

rony meskens

Problem: newly added account disappears when TB is closed. Thunderbird on this PC (Dell Latitude 6540) has held a Verizon account for years. The "new" account is a different, equally old Verizon account kept on TB in an identical PC I no longer use. When added to TB on the present PC it tests and works fine until TB is closed. Repeated numerous times. Having read thread # 1286437 I did what follows , to no avail: 1. tried TB in troubleshoot mode; 2. tried in Windows safe mode; 3. cleared startup cache; 4. drastically pruned old emails; 5. looked up profile folder under troubleshooting info. Folder qxxxxxxd ( size 1.18 GB before adding new account) holds one folder tree, one directory tree, but NO prefs.js file. Instead, twenty-two prefs-xx.js files from 1 to 22; removed all to a thumb drive except prefs-1.js which I dared not rename as prefs.js; 6. found two profile folders, both labeled default. One is the above holding 1.18 GB, the other holds 685 MB (probably harmless and related to an old university account no longer extant). I copied both profile folders to a thumb drive. Note: profile folder qxxxxxxd is clearly engaged in what I am attempting. When TB is open with the added new account working -- which is the case as I am writing --, profile folder size increases from 1.18 to 1.20 GB and the number of folders increases by one (under "Mail" the list of pop.verizon-xx.net sub-folders increases from 17 to 18). Please advise on what to do next; I am 86 and no software geek, but can follow instructions... Thanks --Paul
