Help please I want to use "Personal Backup" program to save a backup of data needed to restore thenderbird Using tools>help>trouble shooting>application basics>profile>open folder gives 5 files all ending in .default 3 are 1 KB - can these be deleted? 2 have more folders each with many folders and files- are they both needed? which do I use for backing up with "Personal backup" program? the "Personal Backup" program finds 2 possble profiles defaultuser and default_user, which do I need? I am on the "release update channel"

Believe my T-bird account has somehow been corrupted. Takes forever to load on PC and always puts new emails in Trash folder. Often does not accept correct password. If I save / backup PROFILE, uninstall T-Bird and delete any Thunderbird folders on PC, if I restore per backup, will I be restoring the corrupted app. Don't want to loose email addresses, thousands of emails and email folder structure. Will a restore work? Thank you. Greg D

PS Version of T-Bird on laptop still puts all new email in Trash, but loads much more quickly, etc.

opened firefox saturday and screen was totally different than what i had. guess it updated, but not returned to my profile. have tried to open my profile and succeeded, but can't get it to come on automatically when i open firefox again. how do i open the profile i want and then keep it opened?

A pop-up suggested that I use profiles to organize and it sounded like a great idea but then after making profile I was having trouble getting tabs from one page to another. Then I discovered that I had to log in my accounts onto every profile I made and it sounded like a terrible idea, so I tried deleting all my profiles to get it to revert but now that I open the browser it shows me to make a new Profile. So, I want to know how can I revert back to using Firefox Without the use of profiles like I was before clicking the pop-up

I am trying to install Thunderbird into a new computer with Windows 11. When I try to run, it goes to a configuration page but will not connect after finding my account. I have double-checked password, but it says "Unable to log in at server . . . ".

I have uninstalled and reinstalled new program, but get the same response each time. I want to install Thunderbird (and Firefox) and copy my profiles from my old computer to the new one. I am not able to do either. I have followed the online instructions for moving/migrating both, but neither work. Any suggestions?

I tried to transfer Thunderbird file from old computer to new computer but get "Profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessable." when I start Thunderbird. The old TB file works on old computer and I am pretty sure I copied it and pasted it into the new location in place of the current Thunderbird file.

Hello, i have installed latest TB an try to use it on one PC - This PC is part of company network, users login to windows by domain controller login. there is also a exchange server in the same network. i have created a running and working thunderbird-exchange connection for 2 different users but with the third user its noch working anymore. is there a limit to user accounts on one PC or? Can I use thunderbird with multiple accounts on multiple PC's and stay synchronised?

I have two PC's i want to set up - it seems like i have to create a new account for a second PC rather than pick up the account set up from the first PC.

FF 148.0, Intel Mac, current 15.7.4 (Sequoia)

In the middle of a browsing session I needed to consult my substantial browsing history and found it to be gone. I quit FF using the dropdown and restarted. After restarting FF the browsing history showed only that session and the TST sidebar with many tabs didn't display so I concluded FF created a new profile for startup but using my home page. I have the profile in use at the time (profile_a) and a month old backup of it. profile_a seems to have all the expected data and the bookmarks are correct. I've hacked around within Profile Groups and profiles.ini but FF refuses to use profile_a in spite of my edits, and worse is silent about it so I'm stuck and need help.

Possible related issue: is TST sensitive to the number of tabs? I'm a hoarder and find TST easier to use than bookmarks so had about 700 tabs stashed in TST.

New OS LMDE7 (trixie debian 13 base) Installed Firefox from the Mozilla Firefox Debian Package mozilla-debian- 1.0 Firefox 148.0

I've just installed LMDE7 alongside LMDE6 and want to move the 6 profile into 7. I've exported the 6 profile into backup and then moved it into the new Firefox Home folder (\home\...\.config\mozilla\firefox) Found both profile.in and installs.ini there AND many different profiles. (I had tried to use the profile manager and seem to have created lots of profiles beside the default-release from 7. Installs.ini shows both the original profile from the 7 install and one created with the Profile Manager and both are locked. They are also in profile.ini as installed.

So my Question is how do I install the old profile into profile.ini?

I believe Firefox invited me to add another partition to my Firefox system I do not like it, finding it interferes with my normal operation of daily events and also transfers unasked from my primary partition making, for instance emails l seeking a reply.

I am installing Tbird on a Windows 10 instance that I am recovering from backup. There is a default profile that contains a folder for a user in an IMAP domain that no longer exists. Tbird won't start and just spins with a message about a missing IMAP user.

I copied the profile to another backup folder. And then uninstalled and re-installed TB. The "AppData > Roaming > Thunderbird > Profiles" folder(s) are still there but empty. When I start TB it says: "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." The old email is not important now. Should I delete more folders in AppData, or what should I do next?

It induced me to create a new profile. Then, I lost the old one. Who even knew about profiles? Firefox is now filling in passwords, among other serious setting changes I did not make. This is the worst experience I ever had with a browser. Firefox has been my steady for decades, always dependable and easy to manage. I think we broke up today.

Hello. I recently upgraded from my older MacBook Pro (now factory reset and sold) to a new MacBook Air. I use Thunderbird as my email client and I have many folders that live within my Local Folders. When I transferred all the data from the older Mac to the new Mac via iCloud, and set up my new mail account (IMAP), the folders did not download into the program. I've tried using Subscribe but none of my pre-existing folders show up. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know if it was a glitch in a recent update or something else, but every time I close a Firefox browser and then open a new one, it takes me through setting up Firefox EVERY time and changes my toolbar setting and erases my extensions. HELP!

My toolbar disappeared in January very disappointed because I don't want to take my computer to the fix it man here in town when It was not something I did but rather came with an update.
