Hi,

I am loading Tb (78.6.0 32-bit) on two new win 10 Pro installations. Incoming mail works fine but sending mail it asks for the pword again after login and it continually fails. Then the attached err msg appears.

Also Attached are the instructions from my ISP, Sonic.net for connecting to Tb. Their tech dept. double checked my config and sending emails from their web mail program works as expected.

My current email connection (on Win 8.1 Pro) has been in place for over 5 years and still works fine on my main account but I found that the less frequently used email addresses have the same exact problem (Upgraded to 78.6.0) even though NONE of them have the currently recommended server settings and the ISP does not have a separate IMAP Pword. This makes the problem difficult to track down as I am not certain where to look for a problem. Otherwise I have been a happy user for ~10 years.

Thanks for any assistance,

alr3

BTW: Is there a 64 bit edition?

Hello - I received an email regarding my G Suite account that says starting Feb 15, 2021, G Suite accounts will only allow access to apps using OAuth. Password-based access will no longer be supported.

It goes on to say: If you are using Thunderbird or another email client, re-add your Google Account and configure it to use IMAP with Oauth.

It says if I do not take the above action, when LSA access is discontinued after Feb 15, 2021, I'll begin receiving an error message that my username-password combo is incorrect.

I have personal and business G-mail accounts, both of which I access through Thunderbird. I'm not a techie -- this was all set up for me by someone else -- and I'm unsure about how to "re-add/reconfigure my Google account," and when to implement this -- or is it possible that Thunderbird has already made changes at that end to accommodate this new Oauth requirement?

I'd be eternally grateful for any specific how-to steps you can provide to ensure uninterrupted email service.

Thanks so much! Faith Brill Owner, Instant Karma Dog Training Orange County, CA

I've had all settings in about:preferences#privacy turned off for years, but a new firewall is asking me to allow default-browser-agent.exe to send data.

I'd have thought the program should stop running altogether when all checkmarks in "Firefox Data Collection and Use" are turned off.

Can I view what data is being sent?

I have loved and used Thunderbird for years after finally replacing good old Eudora. I recently had to change my Yahoo password for security reasons. I followed all the Thunderbird instructions on how to update my password, from options, to security, to show password, to delete password, reboot and entering my new password when prompted, and then save to password manager. But the new password is rejected when trying to download mail. Nothing else has changed. I've spent many, many hours with no success. The new, correct Yahoo password is now in Thunderbird. It is a long story, but for several reasons, I still use and must use Version 52.9.1, Mozilla 5.0. Therefore, some of the suggestions I've found online do not work with my older version. I can read my emails on Yahoo, but need to download them to Thunderbird for historical and management purposes. Any help much appreciated!

Hello,

My firefox does't open the "New Private Window". Whenever I install firefox for the first time, the New private windows doesn't show any problem. But when I proceed, I can find out I can no longer open the new private window. Technically, the website opens, but it does not show the "purple-coloured eye glasses".

I think my computer is infected by malware because my searching histories are also saved in the incognito mode of Google Chrome.

Would you be able to fix this problem by updating the software?

When I use my McAfee anti-virus full protection software to remove trackers, all trackers are removed from my browsers (Microsoft edge, chrome, etc) except for Mozilla Firefox. I always have 222 trackers not removed from my Firefox browser after every cleaning. Gosh even chrome does a better job than Mozilla Firefox. This is getting really creepy. Anyone's assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi I use the Firefox Password-Manager on Desktop. Also i Synch that with my Android Phone.

Now my Question: On the Desktop Version i am able to set a Master Password. On the Android Version i do not find such a thing. Why? I would like to set a Master Password also there. Otherwise everyone who is able to get my Mobile in a Unlocked state is able to use all my Passwords. Which should not be.

I know they can only use the passwords when they are able to open the mobile with the mobile pin/password or fingerprint. But i would like to have a seperate MAster-Password only for Lockwise/Browser

Ist this somehome possible? Thanks foryour Help

In my home network I have an IMAP server (dovecot) running with a self-signed SSL certificate. When I want to sync the mail ("Get Messages") then a window pops up (correctly) warning me about the "incorrect" certificate. (The window title is "Add Security Exception" and the error is "Wrong Site"). Wat is strange is that the Location indicated, is not the same as as the Server Name as set in the server settings in Thunderbird. Example: suppose I have a server name set as a.b.c.com, then in the warning window it would say imap.c.com:993 (so a.b removed and replaced by the word imap). I have no idea why the address gets changed.

If I confirm the security exception and store it, then the correct certificate is stored (checked fingerprint), but it is added under the wrong server name (under imap.c.com). Subsequent "Get Messages" will trigger the warning again.

If I correct in the warning window the Location to a.b.c.com:993, then is says No Information Available. If I correct it to the address with the SSL port number removed (so only a.b.c.com) then I can store the Security Exception, but the wrong certificate is stored. What is stored is the certificate that belongs to my web (https) server and what can be reached at my domain name b.c.com .

In the past the same set-up did work form both local network and from outside (obviously with some earlier version of Thunderbird), the security certificate was stored in the right way in Thunderbird. I still have clients running using the certificate that was stored some years ago. In one client I accidentally deleted it, and now I cannot get it back.

The system is an up to date Fedora 33 system.

As captured in the long thread "What's the difference between ALLOW and ALLOW for a SESSION?”, with a lot of handholding from jscher2000, I managed to set custom choices for privacy and security the way I wanted on my mac computer (blocking all cookies in all windows, with exceptions saved for ALLOW, ALLOW for SESSION and some for BLOCK). To accomplish this, required enabling deletion of cookies when Firefox closes.

My assumption based on information I got in the above mentioned thread, was that even when deletion of cookies is checked for when Firefox is closed, cookies for websites identified as exceptions with ALLOWED, are not deleted.

However, this is not what happens. A specific example is tripcheck.com, which stores custom itineraries for cameras in cookies. I setup quite a few of these custom itineraries and saved them and they were OK until I closed Firefox, when they were deleted, as the cookie was deleted. This website is setup as ALLOW in the Exceptions list.

As explained in the above mentioned thread:

"(2) Scenario Two

[X] Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed (checked)

Firefox shortens cookie expiration to session only unless the site has an ALLOW permission in the exceptions list. “.

I am more confused than ever, the settings do not appear to be working the way they are meant to work, not only for session cookies but also for what should be "permanent".

Am I doing something incorrectly or am I misunderstanding how setting should work?

If cookies of websites setup for ALLOW are deleted when Firefox is closed, the setting is defeating what I am trying to accomplish: saving cookies for websites that I use and save data in cookies (such as recognizing the computer, what’s needed for 2 step authentication, etc.).

Thanks.

I find that images generally show on webpages such as the front page of a news site. However, when I click into a specific article, the image which is usually near the start of an article in a lot of cases does not show (so it's not a "always never shown" situation); it's as if it's been removed from the webpage syntax i.e. there's no white space section showing something is missing. One example (of many I could include!) is https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/phonics-revolution-the-new-sound-of-reading-in-the-nations-schools/7A5UVZ55NAOJEQACLKELCNEU6U/ I verified there are images there by restarting Firefox with Add-ons disabled (which starts Firefox in Safe Mode), and also by opening in another browser. So I went thru and disabled *all* add-ons and restarted Firefox. Images still don't show! These missing images only show when I run Firefox in Safe Mode.

In the back of my mind, there is/used-to-be an option to limit the size of images on a page(?) but I can't find any option now. I have also refreshed Firefox (a number of times; including a total de-install, reboot, re-install) but the problem remains. .. What am I missing? I'd like to be able to see these images.

Thanks.

Despite Firefox autocomplete logs and passwords I waste a lot of time for it especialy with two factors veryfication. How I can roll this function back to old happy time when google and social networks remember my browser and I just open it in one click? Changing settings on privacy and security page doesn't help. Please help me cause i can't find any relevant information anywhere.

Twice now I have had a master password prompt come up suddenly for an unknown reason. I did not enter my password as I did not trust it. Is there a way to detect why this is happening?

The first time it happened after I had been reading a page for about 10 minutes. I had two other tabs open for the same site and no other non-suspended tabs. I did not have an account on that site.

The second time happened while watching a video on a different site, about 40 minutes in. No other tabs were active. I did have an account for that site, but I was already logged in via cookies.

In both cases I was just reading/watching; there seems to be no user action that triggered it. This makes me think it is not caused by a login request for a site, but by a (malicious) extension or some background process in Firefox.

I do not use Firefox Sync, nor am I signed into a Firefox account.

Hi, I've been looking for the way to sign digitally my emails using my personal certificate (given to me by the government), but unfortunately I didn't found it. Several tutorials indicate that the way to do this is configuring the certificate in Account settings -> Security, but for me there is no such option. The last group of settings for each account I have in my Thunderbird is "Return Receipts". Maybe I'm missing something?
