We run Firefox on all our clerk computers at the public library where I work. Since the most recent update, our online circulation website which we use to check out books, receives a pop-up blocked message every time we try to print a hold receipt for an item. The website has always been added as an exception to our pop-up blockers, and until just after the most recent update, the blocker had no problem allowing the website through. Now it does. I have tried clearing the browser caches, removing and adding the website to the exceptions list again, and restarting the browser, as well as adding different variations of the website to the exceptions list. In the end, we just had to turn the pop-up blockers off. I searched online for anyone else who had this issue, but the ones I found dated back to 2014-2015, and the solution they came up with no longer seems to exist in the Firefox settings. So I'm hoping to find an answer here! Thanks.

I am Getting both "incorrect password" and "your email was returned" errors

I know the password is correct as I can still use it to log in (including logging into these forums) though I am getting this error when trying to create a recovery key or reset my password

For the "your email was returned" error, the email address is typed correctly in my account and I have gotten confirmation emails from FireFox as recently as 2 days ago. I get this error when trying to sign in to sync the Multi-Account Containers addon, as well as when trying to use "forgot password" to get a reset link.

I'm not sure how to proceed with these errors as each issue is preventing me from resolving them on my own.

At one point while I was getting the incorrect password error I got a message that my account is locked and an email would be sent to me for confirmation...though of course that also got "your email was returned"

I am writing a program that requires me to detect when a shift key is pressed and do something. Something like

window.addEventListener('keydown', event => console.log(event), false); // expect to see an event logged to console when pushing the "shift" key

This works great on all browsers except Firefox. "alt" and "fn" keys are also not able to be detected on Firefox. Is there some sort of advanced security settings I can disable to let me capture these things?

Thanks in advance.

The firefox browser does not prompt to select a valid user client authentication certificate (stored in the Windows cert store under Personal User certs) for access to sites. This means the browser can not be used for certificate based MFA.

Changing the browser to use system certs (security.enterprise_roots.enabled = True) does not help resolve the issue

In recent version Firefox blocks all popups in the private mode even on sites, where I have popups enabled in normal mode. I am pretty sure it is a new behavior. Popups can be enabled even in private mode, but it is not saved. In some earlier version Firefox in the private mode used to apply popup settings from both private and normal mode. Is there any way to get this behaviour back except downgrade ?

Hello - I am attempting to use my Personal Identity Verification Card (PIV card) via an external reader. I can access the websites needed from other browsers but not Firefox. After one of the last FF updates, I noticed that I no longer needed to enter my Primary (Master) password to sync or access my logins or site passwords. After a bit of checking, I found that in FF/Tools/Options/Privacy & Security... My "Use Primary Password" box was unchecked! Was I hacked? I use full-time Malwarebytes (licensed) along with Win10 Security (which are suppose to play nice together; and have for years). I never received any indication of an issue from either app. Multiple (full) scans came back clean.

Or was this an inadvertent change caused by one of the later FF updates?

Btw, I use the same W10 and FF on several other machines, with virtually the same setup; none of which experienced this issue.

Hi Mozilla,

I, unfortunately, have the same problem as others regarding Firefox not blocking ads even though adblocker has been installed.

I have always had the adblocker icon in the tool bar, and for each web visit, I could see how many ads being blocked. This icon has disappeard. Your soluction is to go to customize, but there are only icons for your settings (eg plugins) not the actual adblocker plugin icon. So therefore not possible to move the adblocker icon to the toolbar, as it is not showing in your customize options. I have now run a Microsoft malware/adware full scan - this did not help. I have also re-installed Firefox, and re installed several adblocker plugins. The page videnskab.dk suddenly runs ads when I access with firefox. I have just tried with Edge and no ads. So this must be an firefox browser issue. Would be great to get my icon back AND also to get the adblocker back in action. Looking forward to solution, tks, all the Best Christianne Nielsen

The strict protection mode in Firefox has been really great for me so far. My understanding is that it creates a separate "cookie jar" for each website. Knowing this, I was wondering if Facebook container is still needed to stop Facebook tracking. I never visit the Facebook website and I don't have a Facebook account. I also use Ublock and Privacy badger, if that makes a difference.

Hi there.

I try to find out how to attach my public key to my messages by default. The faq (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/openpgp-thunderbird-howto-and-faq#w_why-does-thunderbird-automatically-send-my-public-key-whenever-i-digitally-sign-an-email) says that if I sign my messages, my public key will be attached automatically, but that's not the case. I always have to click security -> attach my public key, otherwise Thunderbird will not attach my public key. What am I making wrong?

I have installed Thunderbird to a laptop I have on longterm loan.

1. I can't find how to log out of the account. Even though I have removed the password, when I open TB all my emails are accessible. There is a pop up window asking for a password, but it can be closed, and all the emails remain accessible. I am not able to set up a different Windows user account because of protocols set up on the laptop. How can I log out when I've finished accessing TB?

2. I have set up my account using IMAP, and all my folders have imported correctly, except for the generic ones. They are in Spanish. I live in Spain. Amongst he languages in the settings of TB, Spanish is not present. In my original GMX account interface and settings there is no Spanish in use. I have configured the language settings in TB that I can see, to English, and restarted the laptop, but to no effect.

3. Is it possible to send emails from my original GMX account that will be sent via TB and therefore pEp.

4. What role does Mailvelope play in all this? Is it correct that in order to have the correct encryption process, I need to use TB in conjunction with pEp and Mailvelope.

I have never used a MUA before. It seems to be complicated. I would rather use the interfaces of my original email accounts (GMX and Protonmail), as they are more user friendly than the poor design of TB .

Thanks.

I use Firefox 87 on a number of notebooks duel booting various distros of linux (Mint, Manjaro, and MX Linux) and Windows 10, as well as a desktop running Windows 10.

On the notebooks Firefox is set to always use private browsing mode in both linux and Windows. On the desktop machine it isn't, but I always have private windows open. On the desktop version of Firefox private windows have the purple circle with a mask icon to show they are private. On the machines that are set to always use private mode Firefox never shows that icon, so I have to go on faith that they are private. Is there a reason always private doesn't also have the private icon?

Also, on the machines where Firefox is launched in always private mode, it always open 2 separate windows. This is a consistent thing when in always private mode.
