Can't login to the IMAP server, mail.optonline.net anymore. Also, my Inbox has disappeared. How can I reinstall Thunderbird from scratch without losing all my imported mail which is vital to me? I'm not a programmer so this way over my head. Just need a mail client that skips all the bells and whistles and just works. Thanks!

I have the domain tomteverkstan.se at Google Workspace. Some of the users do not want to use webmail but Thunderbird so I have tried to set up Thunderbird to connect to google. That was easy, more or less automatically. It uses IMAP and the SMTP server of Google.

But all emails that are sent from Thunderbird to gmail / google workspace addresses ends up in the spam folder. Emails to other email providers seem to work.

After doing some research I have entered the following TXT record in the DNS of tomteverkstan.se : TXT 36000 "v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all" This should tell google that it's OK to send using the selected SMTP server.

This is a sample email Can you see why it is interpreted as spam?

What more can I do? Any suggestions?

Mozilla, a company whose literal goal is to keep the internet free for public use, ironically makes it virtually impossible to contact them

There is literally not a more appropriate place to post this in a 2 hour online search quest to find such a place. So, to sum it up, Mozilla does not include a, "Contact" link on most of their public facing pages. Only a select few have them. Mozilla offers absolutely no way to provide feedback from what I couldn't find. Any page with the feedback box "Did this help" thumbs up and thumbs down literally results in nothing except the box disappearing when I click thumbs down. Mozilla's emails to their email list recipients have no second form of contact information on them beyond a mysterious unnamed physical address (which is illegal btw and lololol, I am disgusted about this for a company that is supposedly all about legal transparency online). Then, Mozilla's "Contact page" (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contact/) contains a completely broken map that shows literally nothing but appears to be intended to show geographical regions to contact. They link to a Facebook page without a contact option. There is an extremely limited support menu that looks like it was developed by a teenage web developer and which offers NO link to a Mozilla foundation support option. The dinky little "Get Help" link at the very bottom is the only thing that could even remotely be related to getting general Mozilla foundation help/offering feedback. Clicking on that routes to the help forum homepage which has zero options for Mozilla Foundation or Mozilla pages reporting broken features and etc. The Mozilla Github seems to only be tailored towards the various Mozilla coding projects but seems to be completely absent of actual Mozilla applications such as Firefox. Doing an extremely thorough Google search for the email address of Mozilla or any of its public facing representatives resulted me with absolutely zero results. Mozilla doesn't even openly provide a mailing address to the public on its website from what I could find (this is scary to think about in a scenario where I would need to mail legal documents to Mozilla). Mozilla has no publicly listed phone number anywhere on Google. I could not even find any leaked email addresses to anyone whatsoever within the Mozilla foundation, almost as if they actively scrub them from search results. This seeming lack of connection with Mozilla's actual users is quite concerning to me. Lol, if I were writing one of Mozilla's privacy review articles on Mozilla themselves, I would give a warning sign due to a designed communication-killing wall between them and their end users.

Please reroute this concern to the correct area. I know it is not posted in the right place but Mozilla literally left me with no option on a more appropriate place to leave it.

I only ever use IMAP mail settings, but today (21st Sep 2021) they've changed in Thunderbird to POP3.

I get the msg "This POP3 server does not seem to support encrypted passwords. If you have just set up this account, please try changing to 'Password, transmitted insecurely' as the 'Authentication method' in the 'Account Settings | Server settings'. If it used to work and now suddenly fails, this is a common scenario how someone could steal your password" Thunderbird is up to date. Please does anyone know how I can change them back without having to delete them first? As they're now POP I'm not sure if the emails will be deleted if I delete the accounts, Thanks for any help!

You send me to pages in a foreign language. For example,I clicked LinkedIn, and it's in a foreign language.

When I click to go to a page often it's in a foreign language that I can't understand. I speak English. My only language setting is English.

Sometimes you send me that "Prove you're not a robot" that's all in characters like Chinese. I cannot understand it at all. I like Mozilla, but may have to use Google to get some work done.

Sometimes I use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) because I handle bills and finances online. Both myself and the IP address of the VPN are in the United States. I never do anything that involves foreign countries.

I recently downloaded ver. 60.n, upgrading from ver. 52.9 because of some problems at that level. Now, I have a major problem. When I select the mode (To:, Cc:, Bcc:) for the first addressee and type in the address, and then press the Enter key, the next line opens as 'To:', NOT as 'Bcc:' as previous versions always did. This IS very annoying when there's a long list of recipients. The operating system is WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM, with all the latest updates from MICROSOFT as of the last date of their support. Nothing else has changed. No programs have been added or deleted.

Are the contacts in Thunderbird independent of the email account source? I recently migrated a set of email accounts to a new provider. There are now two the email accounts for each address; the new one, named like myemail@mydomain.org and the old one named like myemail@mydomain.org (old). When I eventually remove the "old" email account for each person from Thunderbird, is the address book with that name also going to vanish? The address book is named just like the email account; and the addresses were accumulated during the "old" address period. But I don't see anything in properties of either the address book or the email account in Thunderbird that directly links the two.
