Firefox hangs when downloading large files. Take 100% CPU and I must kill it. Not possible to surf when it happens.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

I updated Firefox from 3.5 to 3.6 and was then asked to update the flash player. I downloaded the tar archive and copied libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/browser-plugins, after backing up the file that was already there. Firefox tells me it's 10.0 R42, which is what I had before the update.

Any attempt to click on Applications in the Preferences causes an immediate crash. None of the other selections within Preferences does this. Running from terminal shows no output.

I have tired submitting a crash report but cannot find the cert I need. I had found a link showing the crash reports and linux had very few (almost none). Perhaps if you all would provide a link how to properly get and install the cert on Linux this report would not have been needed.

The Paltalk Express page loads,but when I try to login,the Adobe Flash plugin crashes.

I want every web page to zoom in just like the previous page. now when I zoom in, then click on a link, the next pages loads buy at smaller zoom. I just want the same zoom. Similar to explorer where you set the zoom at 150% etc

I have just upgraded to v3.6.8 and all bookmarks, add-ins, etc are lost. Message at start-up says "beta participation detected" and my old firefox-3.5 directory is renamed to firefox-3.5.abandoned. I am not aware of ever loading a beta version.

I'm using FireFox 4 Beta 1 on openSUSE 11.1 (x86_64). I created a ~/bin/firefox/plugins/ and ~/bin/plugins I copied the latest the libflashplayer.so there and also to /usr/lib/browser-plugins/

Since adding plugins and folders I get black flashplayer screens

I lost my window controls; minimize, fullscreen, and close. I'm running Firefox 3.6.8 on ubuntu 10.01 and when I open up Firefox it goes full screen covering my application controls and the window has no controls to minimize, change size, or close. In other words the" __ O X " are missing, I can only close it by going to the file control and selecting close or quit.

I get these strange characters when I go to Google search using Firefox 3.6.7 and Ubuntu 10.04.......see below ᎢᏳᏍᏗ ᎨᏒ ᎣᏲᎲᎢᎠᏑᏰᏍᏗ ᏳᏍᏗ ᎠᏁᎵᏔᏅ (These characters are on the Google search page before I search and below search bar. strange characters below: ᎾᏍᎩᏯᎢ Directory ᏚᎾᏓᏡᎬ What is going on....It reads OK using Chromium. I can't read anything. I am using Firefox 3.6.7. My View....character encoding is set to : Western(ISO-8859-1) and auto detect "on"

I am running Ubuntu 10. This has happened with Linux Mint 8 also only not as frequently. Could be related to Java, seems to be when I visit Java or Flash sites or possibly sites that use either for advertising since sometimes it's random.

I can't update Firefox (3.6.7). My current version is Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14 (the one that was on the computer from the beginning). The download process is correct, decompression also, but then if I try to start with the new version I get a Crash Report : file:///mnt/home/.mozilla/firefox/Crash%20Reports/InstallTime20100713120425. What can I do ?
