On the newest firefox update on Windows PC My PDF reading has been not displaying PDFs correctly on Firefox I tested on other PDF views and they work as normal (All images are normally white with black text PDFs) Sometimes it displays nothing at all (as seen in Image 1) Some pages will display correctly but the rest won't (as seen in Image 2) Some pages will display text but strangely (as seen in Image 3) It does flash white sometimes while scrolling but it still doesn't show text

Postbox having been sold to eM Client, I need to migrate to Thunderbird. Import worked pretty well using the protocol "migrating from a previous Thunderbird installation" however the filters did not import at all. It happens that I have 320 of them, so it would be a great help if some automatic procedure could be implemented. Is this possible? Thanks in advance. Regards, Gérald

Hi, using Mac OS. Have tried the about:config set the auto update configs to false, still it keeps prompting every day or a few hours . There is also a timer setting. They dont seem to work, and these update notifications are very irritating, keep popping up every 8 hours or so.

Not sure the necessity for these incessive updates every day or hours, it uses a lot of system resources and hdd space, can Firefox put back the option when we can just tick 'update only when we want them' , in these, no background timer required they use system resources and there are many of us do not want them.

I am troubleshooting a problem that arose after I migrated a Thunderbird mail account from an old Win10 64-bit PC to a new Win11 64-bit PC.

I installed TB on the new machine and opened the program without doing anything else, then closed the program. TB created installs.ini and profiles.ini files, both with the following as the last line:

Locked=1

This line had not been in either .ini file on the old installation.

I edited these files to point to the backed-up TB profile from the old machine, but I decided to leave the Locked=1 line in the .ini files.

Was this a mistake? I have a strange problem with the new installation, which I won't report until I understand what the "Locked=1" means, and whether I was ill-advised to leave it/them in. Fortunately there has been no evident loss of mail data.

Thanks in advance, Phil

I created a new installation, Win11 64-bit, and edited installs.ini and profiles.ini to use the profile left from a previous Win10 64-bit installation.

I get messages to the Inbox correctly, and the structure of what would be Local Folders seems intact. However, I have two problems: (1) when I try to save a message in another folder, I get a dialog saying my disk is full (there are more than 200GB available) (see image); and (2) the "Local Folders" folder looks to be in the Trash. There is also some "weirdness" in the menu when I try to move a message from Inbox (see image).

I have never tried to export from TB but if I can export the Inbox and the other folders with saved messages, I might be able to do a fresh install and then import those.

Any other ideas?

Thx -Phil

I tried installing TB on two machines with the same profile, but this did not work because I was unable to keep the versions in sync on the two machines.

Now I am back to one machine, but because of the above I was left with quite a few "zombie" Inbox and Trash folders. These are empty but they cannot be removed.

Is there a "trick" or mechanism within TB for doing so?

This is a Deb12 Linux installation btw.

Thx, Phil

After recent updates, I’ve been having issues with cookies. Whenever I open Firefox and perform a new Google search, it shows that I’m logged out and the cookie consent popup appears. I have to refresh the page for it to work properly. After refreshing, the cookies load, I’m logged in, and the popup disappears. This issue isn’t limited to Google Search—it happens on about 90% of the websites I try to access right after launching Firefox.

That is the first line in the Hippocratic Oath. All doctors have to swear to it. All software developers should too.

I made the mistake of letting Firefox on KUbuntu update. It obliterated all my tabs and all my history. There's nothing left. I had a lot of tabs open with intent to use them to update some astronomy instructional activities. I don't know if I'll be able to find them again.

I don't really have a question except to ask: What fresh hell is this? Is it really that hard to just leave things the hell alone? I'm afraid to ever update Firefox again. If everything else wasn't based on Chromium, I'd be out of here.

Also, it looks like something out of Windows 7.

It's all gone. It's a wonder you didn't delete all my bookmarks while you were at it.

14 April 2025 I have used Thunderbird for many years to manage my e-mail. I have an sbcglobal.net e-mail address. This means that my ISP is AT&T. I would like to change my ISP from AT&T to Spectrum. I already have a g-mail e-mail address. My question involves compatibility of g-mail with Thunderbird. How do I find out what version of Thunderbird I have? I see that I must have a Thunderbird version 32 or newer in order for OAuth to function, since Google requires that Thunderbird support OAuth.

I already have numerous Local Files which I have set up when using the sbcglobal.net e-mail address. If I begin to use my g-mail address instead, is there a way that I can transfer all these local folders and their contents into my g-mail account, or will I have to set up each of these local folders in the g-mail account, and then copy their contents from the sbcglobal.net e-mail account into the g-mail account?

What will happen to my e-mail address book, when I switch from sbcglobal.net to g-mail? I do not want to keep the sbcglobal.net e-mail account. I want to eliminate it. Is it possible for me to copy my address book from the sbcglobal.net e-mail account to the g-mail account?

Thank you. Connie Yanicka
