The scenario:
1. The "new mail" icon appears in my Windows 7 notification area.
2. I go to my Thunderbird window and click on "Get Messages."
3. New messages show as unread, with a green dot.
4. Not wanting to read any of the messages right away, I pick a message and click on the green dot, marking the message as unread.
In previous versions of Thunderbird, the "new mail" icon would disappear. This was a good thing.
In the current version, the "new mail" icon stays up. This is not good.
