This is a newer, better version of a question that I previously bungled badly. As of this morning, I was running TB 68.1.0 (32-bit) on Windows 10 Pro (10.0.18362). Every day or two, I was getting a pop-up window warning me that TB couldn't update to the latest version and I needed to download a "fresh copy". This warning had a whiff of strangeness about it, so rather than using the link provided, I downloaded the latest version from the Mozilla site and installed it. Even though I'm now at the latest version on the release channel, I'm still getting the same warning, (see attached screenshot). Is this a legitimate warning coming from TB? If so, what do I need to do to dismiss it?

I want to return to version 28. Version 29's interface is hideous. I installed the add-on which supposedly makes it look like version 28, but it doesn't.

I have downloaded version 28. All I need to know is: Do I uninstall version 29 before installing version 28, or can I install version 28 over version 29 without uninstalling it first? I want to keep all my bookmarks.

I have already turned off automatic updates.

For the last few days my Firefox does not display the downloads window. I have tried to follow the suggestion set out in Firefox Help ie Tools --> Options --> General

But my General Tab doesn't show under Downloads the option to check the box "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file". Under Downloads, the only option shows "save files to Downloads" and "Always ask me where to save files".

Any suggestions on how I can get to --> Downloads the option to check the box "Show the Downloads window when downloading a file".

Thank you in anticipation

im not sure i can live with this. i need my original firefox back. this version is no good. how do i get the previous theme with my orange firefox button and grey top ?

im am positive that i did not say to update. it just did it on its own. now its gay blue. whats worse is there is a gradient into the gay blue. horrible and i need help to get rid of it.

it wouldve made more sense to put the icons on the left. and leave the search on the right where it belongs.

if i redownload 28, how do i stop it from updating again?

How can i revert back to my last version with all my tabs/windows/history restored? I will do a system restore if i have to and then cancel all automatic updates. I honestly dont care if it gives me a bigger security risk.

Firefox 28 was working fine, but when I was asked by a pop up upon opening firefox to update to 29.01 i found there were lots of security issues for 28 so i manually updated to 29.01 by going to "about, check for updates, etc." Once it downloaded 29.01, and told me to restart, I restarted firefox. When I opened it, I found it is unusable. It won't open a single website. It won't load my homepage. It has all my favorites from before on the favorites toolbar, but I can't go to anything. I closed it and tried to run cc cleaner as I always do, but I keep getting the message "firefox is taking too long to close would you like to force a shutdown" but the forced shut down doesn't close it either. I opened task manager to try and shut it from there, but firefox isn't showing up. I have no idea what to do. I am typing all this from Chrome b/c I cannot use the latest version of firefox.I've never had this happen before. I also ran it in safe mode and the same thing happened. Please help, and please answer in layman's terms, because I am not a computer expert. I took a couple screen shots I will attach. Actually i don't see anywhere to attach an image so I can't. I also don't understand the green "automatically add" button that is underneath this box on the mozilla support page. Also, when I went to the help, about page in the top corner of firefox just now to check the version it says "firefox is being updated by another instance." What the heck does that mean? Never seen that ever. Appreciate any help.

The old page now has stubs only, there is no full version on it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Separate but valid question: Searching Mozilla Support on this very forum yields no answers as to where to download the full version of the program itself, around which this entire forum has been set up with all the numerous questions in it about the program... yet there is no answer on how and where to actually *GET* the full version of the program... this strongly suggests that the forum administrators went out of their way, to make it difficult to impossible for users to get the FULL VERSION of the program...

There are many valid reasons for needing the full version of the program, don't you think it's pretty incredible that it has always been difficult to download the full version of Firefox? The old page had it buried in between the Acholi and Xhosa languages, even though English (US) is probably needed by millions of users vs. relatively few for Acholi and Xhosa... Millions of users had to go though gymnastics of finding it buried in between all the worlds languages with every consecutive version, and now they completely removed it even from that page...

What is the the reason, and you have to agree there is a reason, for Mozilla preventing us from having the full installation file? And what is the reason, even when the full installation file existed on that page, for this forum to make it almost impossible to find that page when searching the forum, or the entire internet for the official full version download page?

  1. 1.) Because i am using Windows 64 bit does that mean when i update Firefox it automatically will update to 64 bit Firefox version or do i need to uninstall the Firefox i am using and re-install it with the 64 bit Firefox version if i want to use the 64 bit?

I saw the utter uselessness of version 29, removing many of the useful buttons etc. Once I saw it I pretty quickly went back up to v 28, a useful version. Since then it has gone back to v 29 4 times, despite being set to never update itself, precisely to avoid it doing this. Frankly this is a virus like behaviour. If the v29 was actually an improvement over 28 I would have updated to it, but it is crap so I do not want it. I have set everything to stop it updating and it just keeps updating itself to this useless version, probably going to have to go to pale moon now, a browser which seems to actually work and do what it is told.

Hello awesome mozilla thunderboyd users! Please help me!

So I used to have multiple personalities. We each used different e-mail accounts on different Thunderbird profiles, of course. After much expensive counseling and electroshock therapy, my psychological personalities have been merged. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for our Thunderbird profiles. This user experience is worse than electroshock therapy when you have to pee really bad! With over 80 years of combined experience in technical support (all of my personalities were geeks) you would think that I (or we, as the case may be) could handle this. But no dice! So I turn to you, the subject matter experts, for help with this conundrum.

So I've got two Thunderbird profiles on two different computers, each having different e-mail accounts within the profile. I can copy the Thunderbird profile folders over to the same computer via my NAS box. So that part is not a problem. But after I have my two profile folders sitting comfortably side by side in my Documents folder, (or in root, or on my desktop, or wherever) I'm at a loss as to what to do next. I tried speaking very loudly in pidgin English to Thunderbird, but even that hasn't been working. I'm sorry I can't remember exactly what all I tried but for example I said stuff like "PROFILE... YOU USE PROFILE! YOU USE OTHER PROFILE ALSO... YOU BRING INFORMATIONS THIS PROFILE OVER HERE TO THIS OTHER PROFILE. BRING NOW! MAKE HAPPEN!" And while I was yelling this, I was clearly pointing to the profile folders in question. I know that both my web cam and microphone are working because I was able to place a Skype call to my counselor on the same day as I was doing this troubleshooting, so I know Thunderbird could hear me and see what I meant, but it still isn't working.

So I was like, can I export a profile? Can I import a profile? It appears that Thunderbird can maybe import from other programs like Microsoft Exchange, but at the same time, Thunderbird can not import from... Thunderbird... ? Kind of an oversight there, eh?

So one thing I was thinking of, is if I install Microsoft Exchange, and I import one of my Thunderbird profiles into Microsoft Exchange, then will I be able to import that profile into Thunderbird? And if I do that, will Thunderbird merge the Microsoft Exchange profile with the active Thunderbird profile? But I don't have Microsoft Exchange. Does anyone have any idea of what the most inexpensive way is for me to get Microsoft Exchange? Damnit, now I have to set up WINE or something just so I can install Windows so I can install Exchange just so I can use Thunderbird. In fact I don't even have a Windows license now that I think about it. This is getting to be a hassle!!!

Are there specific files I need to copy over from one profile source folder into a destination profile folder, so that both the account's e-mails, e-mail folders, and account settings will all get added into the destination profile folder? If so, which files does one copy?

Thank you!
