When I use Facebook and play a game on the website, FireFox and FireFox Nightly both tell me to download the latest version of Flash. It doesn't give me the option or HTTML version at all. What to do??? I like Firefox Nightly a lot, but there's that one issue. Thanks bunches, Donald Rock Jr (Donnie)

On Youtube, on a clean, up to date version of Firefox 64-bit, Youtube will not stay signed in, either on its on board hotbar on the left, the main center console in and outside of individual video pages, or both. Attempting to sign in via the normal means usually sends the user back to the main page as if they had not signed in at all (and if the account is signed in for a given attempt, it will only remain so until the page changes, for example when a search is conducted or a video loaded), and the sign in button on the hotbar is completely non-functional. Additionally, Youtube's other functions such as commenting, saving videos, accessing video history for an account, accessing or creating playlists, etc, do not work at all on Firefox 64 in this instance. This remains the case even when all of the troubleshooting options, such as changing assorted cookies settings, cleaning the cookies that are stored, changing how cookies are stored and what sites have permissions to store or save cookies, changing which are deleted regularly and from which sites or how which are to be deleted is determined, running a clean install of the browser, running the browser as an admin, turning off all ad-ons, running the browser in safe or secret modes (and also these as an admin and not, each), adding Youtube as an exception for tracking protection, and so far as completely uninstalling and reinstalling the entire browser do not fix or change the problem. The problem is not persistent on Chrome or Edge, only on Firefox, and changing which Firefox account is attempting to sign in, or which other accounts (Google, Youtube, etc) are signed in also has no change. Another post with the same problem has determined the source to be Kaspersky Antivirus, however the only posted solution in that thread is to turn off the antivirus, which considering that doing so leaves one's computer unprotected is not actually a solution - I'm maintaining this thread in the search for an actual solution.

PS - While I will be contacting Kaspersky as well to see if we can come about a solution on their end, the fact that no other browser that has been tried replicates this problem, even in the presence of an active Kaspersky agent, indicates that the problem is not with their software, but rather with Mozilla specifically.

This is not a question, more like a complaint, and DDG sent me here. The word complaint may seem inappropriate for sth like a browser which is the result of thousands of work hours of volunteers. Right? Thanks for that hard work, much respected!

Now, I did see that this very subject has already thousands of filed complaints, which naturally means that millions of people are annoyed about the very same thing, one that Firefox introduced some years ago. Fewer than few people even bother to write in, you know that. Because they feel, it's wasted time, "they do anyway what THEY want".

Maybe so. I write in, because I have hope. Still.

So: What is going on in the minds of "software programmers"/developers... since around the 90ies? Why always this PATRONIZING? Do you really, honestly, seriously, believe that you are any smarter than I am, or my neighbors, or you or your neighbors (you who reads this, probably not those who NEED to read it and act on it) ??

Well, I will say, for sure you are not, you are patronizing. And ADULTS. That's Grotesk!

I know perfectly well if I want to visit a site or not. And while I appreciate your concern about my health or what not, leave it at that concern, don't open it up to patronizing. Permanently. Everywhere. It's ridiculous!

I will add a screenshot here, so that YOU understand, this time. It documents that these "sw developers" leave NO option at all, even after you click this equally ridiculous "Advanced" button, to open a site YOU want. You as the owner of the computer you are using!

Such foolish patronizing is beyond words. To me. To many. I trust that at least words as clear as mine finally open up the minds of those responsible for this permanent annoyance. Yes?

We'll see. You're rolling out more updates than people change their pants. So, within a day or two we should see an update that will finally!!! STOP THIS PATRONIZING. Hm?

I would never use Chrome, the sniffer of everything. I am sad that Firefox introduces gimmicks all the time, but fails to listen to its user base. What THEY want.

And if you don't want to listen to what the users want, then why do you bother to write code for others? Just write for yourself then. Think. Amen. :)

You will deserve more praise when you stop this patronizing, this thinking, you are smarter than the rest of us. Not before.

The tab bar should distinguish the active tab (in part) by removing its bottom border. When I restart Firefox, the tab bar displays correctly but before long that bottom border of the active tab reappears. Changing to a different theme doesn't help. All I can think of is that perhaps I have too many add-ons or bookmarks installed. (I currently have just under 50 add-ons.) What can I do to keep that bottom border off the active tab?

I want to disable checking for updates, but the setting to do so has been removed. After updating fairly recently, I noticed that the setting located in:

about:preferences#general

Was changed to "Check for updates but let you choose to install them" WITHOUT my permission. As a result of this change, I get nagged while I am working ALL THE TIME. Like, several times a day. Not just when the browser first starts, but while I am working. I am getting sick of it! It's become spam at this point, drawing my eyes away from work. and if you think spamming people will make them do it, think again.

In Windows 10 I got so fed up with the automatic updates disrupting work that I outright destroyed my computer's ability to EVER get a system update. If the nuclear option is available for Firefox I am prepared to do so if only to make it shut up already.

So anyway, please tell me, how do I make it stop nagging me about updates? and while I am at it, how do I kill the notification system entirely? because I never want any type of notification ever disrupting me while I am working.

Obviously Mozilla understands this sentiment, since the default behavior now is to hide notifications as described here:

https://blog.mozilla.org/firefox/block-notification-requests/

So why be so in-your-face about updates?

NOTE: I am not against updates in general, but back in the 90's when software updates was optional I updated things far more often because I enjoyed having the ability to do research on an update before accepting it. This personal policy has resulted in me avoiding lots of bad updates that damaged other people's computers, but software that updates without permission like Chrome, for example, would constantly introduce bugs or change behavior without my permission in such a way that makes it largely unusable to me. On my chromebook computer I was able to temporarily block chromebook updates by manually setting the version number to a maximum value but the moment google found a way around that an update was pushed that screwed up touch screen functionality, so, realistically speaking, the heavy handed approach to updates is ultimately what causes me to stop updates. Ironically. While I understand a desire for security, these big companies just don't seem to realize that my computer is my own personal property so they can't treat it like it was under the authority of their IT department. I just want control over what my computer is doing. If and when I update it will be because I am ready to, not because someone else decided to force it on me.

Hi all,

I have a issue with firefox, when i browse through sites i noticed a popping sound through my laptop speakers. I noticed this for a long time now and i thought it was driver related so i updated my drivers but the popping didn't go away. I tested the edge browser in windows 10 and did swap through the same sites as i did in firefox and that browser does not create popping noices.

Is there a fix for it ?

Best regards, Michel

After moving to Firefox 78 ESR, get/setCookieString() is no longer working. For example:

       if (cookieService != null) {
           cookieService.setCookieString(cookieUri, null, "CertCheckDone=1;", null);
           myTrace("cookie is " + cookieService.getCookieString(cookieUri, null));
       }
   }

Firefox is running in kiosk mode and this code was executed with a hook in browser.js. Can someone please help me with this? Are there APIs I can use in place of these or are the Webextension APIs the only way to set a cookie now? I have tried playing around and can load a temporary extension but it's removed when restarting the browser and this also has to run in kiosk mode.

For some reason, my long column (about 1,000 bookmarks) have an intolerable indent space/empty area to the left of each entry...about 2-3 in long and for all bookmarks, so that I have to stretch out the names and reduce my main viewer window as a result.

   IF I try to just move the whole lot leftward, that cuts out the "bookmarks" with the black star as well as search bookmarks entry bar. A long time ago, I thought it had a left right scroll tab at the very bottom. All support entries talk about moving the whole column to the right side of the screen-what I need is 1) an ability to move all bookmarks titles to the left edge as much as possible while keeping orientation with the top "star/bookmarks".
   I do use a zoom button for browsing the web, but reducing screen size has nothing to do with the overly fat/wide bookmarks area-there has got to be a way to put it on a diet!!!

BONUS: if anyone knows on a Mac running High Sierra or any other os, how the heck do you increase size of other menus that don't respond to zoom (command + or _)..even ones not on Firefox? Any recommended zoom apps for menus intrinsic to macs in general?

I would like to give my opinion, but your survey link is not working (https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/Give-feedback-landing-page)

Well, I wanted to say that firefox for windows needs better integration : - fingerprint reader for unlocking passwords instead of master password - windows trackpad gestures needs to be integrated (example: slide two fingers to left/right to go backward/forward in navigation)

Chrome and Edge do them already, I think you really need to this.

When I record screencasts, I don't want people to see what extensions I'm using. For one, it's distracting, for second, it's a privacy issue.

In chrome (iron, opera...) I can quickly drag and resize the extensions area so nothing is seen. Fast an easy.

Is there a way to do this in Firefox. I am open to extensions or keyboard shortcuts as well!

(Pinning to overflow menu is not a solution. It takes many clicks and a long time.)

Thank you for any help.
