It's a very bad idea to move the screenshot function from the context menu in the address bar to a toolbar item you first have to position by customizing. This is exactly the kind of unnecessary interface change which annoys so many Firefox users. Okay, so why is it bad? Most "normal" users don't fiddle with interfaces, they accept it as it is. They expect functions they often use to stay in the same spot. If it's no longer there they think it's gone (and they're frustrated). They surely won't go looking for it in a customization menu. For me as a web designer the screenshot tool was extremely handy when dealing with clients, because it was very easy to explain where to find and how to use it, to send a screenshot of a website problem. Again, many common users don't know how to take screenshots with their system tools, so this was really helpful. Now, instead of explaining where to find it, I'll first have to explain how to customize the toolbar, what the item looks like, how to position it, etc. etc. The simplicity and helpfulness is gone. Suggestion: leave the screenshot function where it is by default, but offer the advanced users a way to make it a customizable item. Everyone is happy.

P.S. I only post this here, because the feedback site is currently deactivated.

I am using Firefox 84.0.2 (64-bit) on Win 10 Pro and the menu font size and toolbar icons are minuscule, even on my 32" monitor.

I found a fix for this same problem in Thunderbird, but I don't see any way to make the menu fonts and toolbar icons bigger in Firefox. This has nothing to do with web sites, just the menu/bookmarks, toolbar icons, etc.

Thank you.

Please help me. I'm not great with this kind of stuff, but I really depend on Thunderbird! I've been hunting for a solution for hours, and have seen a couple of solutions from Toad-Hall, but I'm confused because those have varied, and I have another question besides.

1) Thunderbird disabled the add-on, but I have seen no difference in my fonts, which I'm happy with, but which is strange... Did this release actually fix the font sizes?

I have not yet removed the Theme Font & Size Changer add-on, because I don't want to be faced with the small text until I'm sure of a solution. In the past 2 days, Thunderbird crashed 3 times, having never crashed before, which brought me to learn about the add-on issue. Is that why it's been crashing?

2) So do I actually need to remove or work around the add-on despite its apparent preferred size? Or else in simple terms please explain how to work around the add-on, and also in what order I should remove the disabled add-on. I really appreciate the help.

Firefox has been saving images from some sites as webp instead of JPG for a long time. There have been repeated threads on this subject which get locked and then pushed into the long grass.

Sure, I could botch a solution by installing an add-on to convert them, or I could use something like XnView (which I do, periodically, and in bulk) after the save event has happened, or I can edit about:info to tell Firefox not to accept webp - but this breaks functionality for some sites (like eBay), but I have found that in the end I have had to start switching to Microsoft Edge to do my browsing for a number of sites because Mozilla Firefox are ignoring repeated user requests to provide a simple option to STOP doing this.

I don't want to save any files as webp - save them as PNG if you like, or jpg, but I use an ancient copy (v3.24) of ACDsee (from the days of Windows 98) for my image browsing, sorting, viewing etc because it is perfect, blisteringly quick, has no extra editing or other functionality which I don't need or want, and it doesn't bloat up anywhere with thumbnail files... but sadly webp didn't exist back then so it doesn't support it. I have used a number of much more up to date browser-viewers, but there is nothing can touch this OLD version of ACDsee for basically brilliant design.

I'm not changing my image viewer. It's non-negotiable.

I WILL however change my web browser if I have to, if the developers of the browser continually kick into the long grass to lock, hide away and pretend there's isn't an issue which has been repeatedly flagged as an annoyance for so many users.

I have been using one form or other of 'Mozilla' family of browsers since the days of Quarterdeck Mosaic. I don't particularly want to switch my loyalty, especially to Microsoft, but if they are listening to what customers want and providing it, and Mozilla are not, what else is there to do ?

I am a retired systems developer. I cannot envisage this being SUCH a big ask.

Modern software treats its users like idiots and takes away control, doing everything it's assumes on their behalf that they will want.

It is not difficult to provide an option within settings for when saving webp files to save as webp, png or jpg with conversion if necessary. All you need to do is hear the screams and respond. :)

About a month or so ago Thunderbird updated. After that one of my email groups of 54 addresses no longer went on separate Bcc rows but were all included in one row. That was around the time when my ip address became blacklisted by Spamhaus and MXToolbox. Now they want $100 a month in fees to ensure my emails get through because they are all being returned to me as spam now.

I want to go back to placing each of my address book contacts into SEPARATE BCC rows by using a global drag and drop, not an individual posting.

Can anyone show me how to do that as I have been unable to discover how to get back to that old way. Vic

I am a very long-time user of Thunderbird (and have been using it under Win 10 for several years) I do not know when my Thunderbird updated to 78.9.1

Encountering a weird problem today with Thunderbird when I try to create an outgoing email...

If I click the "Address Book" tab, all my saved addressees are intact, so that function is normal. If I click the "Write" icon (or "Reply" button when I am viewing a received email), I get a window (sample image uploaded) that has no email addressees from my address book to choose from, and even if I manually fill in an email addressee, there is no "send" button. Am I missing something obvious here?

If the recommended solution is to download and (re)install Thunderbird, will the (re)install keep all my old settings, emails, local folders, etc?

I am migrating from The Bat! email client (still adore it most, but switching primarily to Linux). I have thousands of emails and are prepping them for conversion.

From screenshots of Thunderbird, it doesn't look that like both clients have the same Message List Columns/Message Fields, so I may lose information in the conversion. I am looking for an official list of all the fields available in Thunderbird so that I may compare and make changes in The Bat! first.

One example, I currently use a Memo field, which is in addition to a Tag field. Will Thunderbird support that?

Any guidance or information is appreciated. Thank you!

I downloaded some extension (sorry, forgot which) and it changed the way the left pane looks like. Instead of each email separate, each with a sub-category of Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc., now all the Inboxes are grouped under one category, each "Sent" under another, etc.

So it changed from the first picture (or similar to it since I got that pic off the internet), to the second

Please how do I revert it so that each individual email has its own Inbox, Sent, etc. separate from another email's?

Is there a way to get an indication of unread emails on the taskbar icon under Windows 10? On the Mac version, there would be a red dot on the icon if there was an unread email, no matter how many accounts you have. I have the email notification turned on in my tray, but as soon as I open Thunderbird, and click on an unread email, it goes away, even if I have other unread emails.

Not a show stopper, but it makes it easier when you have multiple email accounts.

Many thanx,

Homer

Following the deprecation of the FTP protocol in Firefox I have, as a workaround, set Excel to open all ftp links in Firefox for me. However, ideally, I would like a custom PowerShell script to handle all ftp links for me in Firefox. But to do so you would have to pass arguments to an application (in this case PowerShell) in handlers.json file. I guess that is not possible, or am I wrong here?

I am able to add it from the Customize Toolbar... area but NOT back to where it was, in the Page actions area. Is there a way to do this? I tried this for 2h now and there is no explanation how that icon disappeared in the first place. Perhaps there is a way o moving icons around?
