I am posting this issue at the request of E from Firefox's app developer feedback after I submitted an app review.

The app continues to be unstable on my Pixel 6a (latest OS, Android 13) after freezing up on what appears to be any heavily scrolled pages or those that create a heavy cache. This freezing then causes abrupt phone restarts shortly thereafter, but not always immediately. Usually the culprit seems to be linked to Facebook album viewing, Imgur albums with article-length descriptions, etc. The abrupt phone restarting occurs whether force stopping Firefox and clearing the cache right away or not (although the restarts seem to happen faster if I force stop the app). I have simply closed the app during the freeze, put my phone down, and come back minutes or hours later to it having restarted on its own.

In addition, open tabs have a tendency to lose their scroll spots on a non-infinitely-scrolling page (e.g. an article not requiring expanding) when the app is minimized but not closed. This is probably unrelated(?) and isn't as critical as the spontaneous restarts, however.

It looks like many Pixel 6a users have had this issue, although those support threads from 8-9 months ago have now been archived. Someone else mentioned scripts from the websites themselves may be to blame? Would be curious to hear of any specific fixes. Thanks!

Frequently crashes without warning, pages lag constantly where scrolling down is impossible, even after the page is refreshed. Creates way too many new tabs (like 50 a day) and ads mess up the design of the webpage.

Webpage freezes randomly recently. Need to close the app manually every time and restart all the searches or type the website afterwards. Please fix the problem. I am using the most updated version of firefox in IOS.

Have never been encountered this problem before.

Hello Since the release of 116 for iPhone, my iPhone 8 freezes. I have to switch the phone off and reboot it. Only for it to occur a few minutes later. I know from the comments on the App Store that I’m not the only one.

I’m running iOS 16.6, with around 21GB of free space.

Thanks for your prompt attention. I’m having to use the G**gle app to get round this problem, which doesn’t sit well with me.

As per title, if I perform a Google search, and leave the results set to "all", the first results shown are images. If I tap on any of those images, Firefox freezes completely. Sometimes it recovers after about a minute but often it requires a restart.

When using Firefox on an iPhone 13 mini it keeps locking up stuck on a web page and nothing will clear it unless I reboot the iPhone the all ok it’s so bad now I can’t use Firefox as my default browser

I’m having a issue with the app on iOS where sometimes if I leave the app to do other things then return to the app later on it will be frozen. Sometimes I can open the keyboard and type but nothing happens. I also can’t scroll web pages and the app doesn’t come back alive. Instead I have to force close it.

Hello, on my new powerfull Poco X5 pro, Firefox get often stuck, remaining in white page or in the previous page, and I often need to close the tab and reload the desired page in another tab.

I noticed that this happens often (always??) when clicking a ling in other apps (Firefox is the default browser)

Any idea what's happening here and how to get back my beloved fox?

Hello, henever I tap a link that subsequently opens to an app of some sort, say for instance YouTube, and then come back to Firefox, Firefox will become completely unresponsive.

I can get it working again if I gesture into my open apps and "refresh" Firefox by opening it again. This happens frequently and is quite annoying.

Any suggestions or is this a reoccurring issue?

While searching for something in Google, and when I'm tapping on the suggested images with the search results, the page is freezing. That's happening everytime when searching something in Google. Note: I'm using the Google search fixer add-on.

I've been using Firefox for decades on all my devices and all my many Android phones. In the last 2 or 3 months Firefox (on my mobile only) randomly becomes completely unresponsive. All the tabs I have open are still visible but nothing moves, I can't change pages or make be searches. It's completely frozen. I tried closing the app, restarting the phone. The only thing that fixes it is to uninstall the app and reinstall it. That works for a few weeks until it freezes again.

I've now uninstalled it 3 times already. It's starting to get quite inconvenient. I have to use Chrome because Firefox won't work.

I have an Oppo A74 5G my operating system is always up to date and so are all my apps. Please fix this problem. Thank you

I've had this problem of on my iPhone 14 Mac Firefox (now v113.2 where )tabs are taking long to delete and they freeze once I try to. After waiting awhile, anywhere up to 30 seconds or more, they either finally delete, but still slow or the app crashes and that seems to make the deletions fast, like they originally used to be. I've seen that other people seem to have this problem and I just wondered if a solution for this has finally been found?

Hi, I have the latest firefox on my Samsung A54 5G (and previously on my A71). I'll open firefox, do a few searches and eventually I'll do a search and firefox goes back to the last search results and does NOT show any links related to the new search. If I kill firefox and restart it, it works again. The problem is more irritating than it might sound because it seems to happen too frequently when I am trying to look something up - but when I try to reproduce the issue it's hard to reproduce. The key element may be that I need to have firefox open and idel for a while before the problem occurs. Any advice is welcome!

When reading the site https://hellasjournal.com after a while Firefox freezes and crashes. It's not a site problem because with Chrome works fine.

I wanted to report an issue I've been experiencing on a popular news site, which seems to have been ongoing for several months now. I'm not sure if anyone else has been having this problem or if it's just me, but I thought it was worth bringing up.

My expected behavior when browsing this site is to be able to open links and download files in the background while continuing to browse. However, I've noticed a few issues:

After opening a few tabs, Firefox for Android will hang for almost 30 seconds before doing a deep redraw/repaint of all tabs. It then functions normally until I try to open another background tab from the same website. During the hang, the tab interface continues to redraw, but the pages themselves do not repaint, and no tap events work. When the hang time ends, the pages appear to redraw from scratch, and the context pop-up for the third long-press appears on top of the tab I was looking at. This issue is 100% reproducible for me. Long-press fails when attempting to open the third background tab, but the repaint failure occurs earlier. There seems to be something toxic happening.

Interestingly, when I go back to my Android Home screen after experiencing this issue, there is a deep refresh/repaint, as if the phone has been swapped out or the garbage collector has run.

I have tried clearing all browsing data and using a guest account on my phone, but the issue persists. I don't have any add-ons installed, and neither Chrome nor Firefox Desktop exhibit this behavior. It seems to be specific to Firefox for Android.

My phone is on Android 13 with the latest Firefox update. Under "Crashes" in Settings, there isn't much.

When I open a link within another app, like Facebook or Discord, it usually opens a version of Firefox inside that app, without all the full features. And that's fine, because usually I just want to read whatever it is quickly, and move on. However, I've noticed that if I change apps or let the screen time out when I have one of these links open, the screen will be black or blank when I open it again. I have to go back and click the link again to make it load. Refreshing doesn't work, and if I go to the menu and click "Open in Firefox" after this happens, that tab will never load. I have to copy the URL and open a new tab to load it.

Obviously, I can get around this by choosing the "Open in Firefox" option as soon as I load the page in the first place, but I don't really want to have to open a new tab in my browser every time I want to read a news article on FB or open a meme someone sent me. Overall, I really love Firefox, but this is a problem I didn't have with Chrome, and I'm not seeing anything in the settings to change it. Is this a common issue, and can it be fixed?
