Thunderbird 145.0 (64 bit) with Windows 11 Pro.

In the message editor window, new message or reply or forward, when I want to insert a hyperlink using either CTRL+K or via the Insert menu, a popup window to insert the link into does not appear, and the write windows hangs. Becomes unresponsive. The only way to close it is by ending the task in Task Manager. I notice a crash helper in the Thunderbird group in Task Manager. Everything is on 0% CPU though.

What went on before this is that I modified the property editor.link_color in the config editor (because links are not readable in dark mode, but that's a different story). I then did reset it to default and restarted TB, then pc and TB, that did not help.

In troubleshooting mode, there is no problem. In normal mode, I deleted the only plugin I had (a theme) I cleared cache, refreshed Thunderbird, to no avail. It's not set up to generate crash reports yet.

I have TB on another machine (W10 Pro), I can copy my profile folder over quite easily.

Any suggestions please?

I keep having an issue on my desktop of every new tab I open crashing. I can access the homepage, but if I put anything into the search bar, the screen goes to "Gah. Your tab just crashed. We can help! Choose Restore This Tab to reload the page." And when I try to restore the page, it brings me back to that screen again. I couldn't even access Mozilla Support on my desktop to report this, I am on this site through my phone.

I am trying to empty my Junk folder, but TBird just hangs "Not responding". This doesn't happen with emptying the Deleted folder - that works fine. I have recently moved to Windows 11 - this didn't happen on Windows 10. I am running release 128.7.1esr (64 bit).

This started yesterday. Opening Thunderbird I get a popup saying its from Yahoo and it has my Yahoo mail address on it. If I delete that popup by clicking the upper right "X" another popup takes its place. And so, and so on. One popup after another all for various Yahoo products. Meanwhile Thunderbird can not be used - can't write, can't send and can't receive anything on Thunderbird.

What do I do??? If I reinstall Thunderbird I will loose all my saved emails, and anyway will that work???

I have run my antivirus, checking my whole disks, and nothing.

How do I get rid of the Yahoo popups???? Please someone help me.

Hi - I'm trying to install Thunderbird on my mac to get away from a google workspace account. I've downloaded it a couple times and it crashes immediately after the login screen. Same thing in Troubleshoot mode. It's a work computer so it might have something installed preventing the desktop app from working. Thanks for any help you can offer.

For about the last year when I try to open Mozilla Thunderbird calendar, instead of taking me to the active calendar page, I get a “Not Responding” message and an hourglass for about 1 minute. That eventually disappears. I then have to select “Calendar” and wait another minute or so with another “Not Responding” message before I can finally get to the active calendar page and do what I wish to do on the calendar. When I remove the app and reinstall it, the problem disappears once ONLY and reappears after that. Can you suggest a solution to the problem, please. I have a Dell Inspiron 3793 laptop.

Sadly Thunderbird often hangs, particularly if a network disk goes down. It is a strange hang, with the Inbox shown when hovering the task bar, but selecting it does not open the window. I have been observing this for perhaps 6 months.

In the past, it was sometimes possible to Close Window, else End Task, but neither have any effect. It seems that End Task is disabled.

Consequentky when Thunderbird hangs, the only way to restore Thunderbird functionality is to tidily close all other applications, restart Windows, which fails, hold power button for 5 seconds, then manually start again.

Why isn't Thunderbird killable?

I have downloaded Firefox through the official website and I have installed it through the terminal for Chromebook's Debian Linux.

I have a Chromebook c214ma with a Intel Celeron 4020 with 4 GB ram every single browser on my machine works properly just Firefox keeps closing and crashing

Hello, I'm using Thunderbird version 140.2.1esr (64-bit). I want to create a new account with a different email address. In the first dialog, I'm asked for my "Full Name" and "Email Address." After that, I only have the option to click "Continue." Thunderbird then crashes, and even after several minutes, it doesn't continue. I've attached a screenshot. Creating multiple accounts is actually quite common for me; I've done it several times in the past with previous versions of Thunderbird without any problems. Thank you for your support. I upgraded my Dell PC to Windows 11 yesterday via Windows Update, since support for Windows 10 is ending. Now Firefox crashes often when I close the browser. Everything works fine while I'm using Firefox, it's only when I close the browser that sometime later I will get a crash message on my desktop. I have tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it, and the problem persists. From what I can tell, there's some process which is ongoing after the browser is closed, which isn't terminating properly and that's why it's crashing. Thunderbird pushed out an automatic update last night (July 13 2025) to version 140.0.1esr. Since then I cannot complete creating and typing a new message without Thunderbird freezing completely during entry of the text of a new message. I am running Windows-11 home, version 24h2. I have rebooted, etc. multiple times. I also ran thunderbird in troubleshooting mode and the problem still exists.

Please help - as of today Thunderbird is completely useless to me.

When I try to add a new Mail Account, the "Looking up configuration" step hangs indefinitely. I have to force a hard exit to reopen the app. I was able to add my hotmail account without issue, but now that I'm trying to add @yahoo.co.uk , it just freezes up. Thx

Windows 10, newest Thunderbird.

In recent weeks, Thunderbird often hangs when I'm replying to another email and have written a sentence or two. It never recovers, and I have to close the program from Windows.

It doesn't always do this. On a few occasions, if I wait a while, close Thunderbird from Windows, and restart it, the partial is in the Drafts folder.

I'm running Windows 11 24H2, but I've been on 24H2 since December, and this problem is more recent.
