Hey, so, I've seen this question a couple times when I searched, but (a) there didn't seem to be any solution and (b) they were all regarding Macs and I'm on Windows 11 v 23H2. I keep getting bubbles saying that Firefox wasn't able to check for updates- not that it couldn't download or install updates, but it couldn't search for one. I also did the "about Firefox" thing and it gives me the same message. Both of these have been going on for a couple days and I have attempted restarting Firefox multiple times and did a manual update [125.0.1 (64-bit)] just in case there was a problem there. Now, I've tried the tips from the other threads (turning off the proxy, checking any anti-update policies, and checking the add.update.url in the config settings) with no luck. So in an effort to either bump the question or get any Windows oriented answers... Thanks muchly

Anytime I attempt to send an email in the CCC ONE application, I get this error message from CCC ONE:

"Unable to perform selected action while the email application is open. Please close your email application and try again."

This error message persists whether I do have Thunderbird open or not. I also checked Task manager while I had Thunderbird closed and found no instance of it running. Is there any way that Thunderbird is running in the background? Or could it be if Thunderbird loads at start up that it's tricking CCC into thinking it's open all the time?

I contacted CCC ONE report and they advised me to attempt to change the name of a DLL file so a new one would be created to replace it. I tried that, the issue still persists. They also told me to try and uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird, which I did, and it still won't work.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi, I am running Thunderbird v. 115.9.0 on Windows 10 on my desktop. I have been forced by Rogers in Canada to migrate my internet service from their legacy internet service to Rogers Ignite with its Ignite (Comcast) gateway. My email accounts were supposed to be migrated automatically, but, for reasons unknown, were not, and a tech support representative had to migrate them from the old legacy service to Ignite. After that was done, I opened Thunderbird, and was asked to authenticate my 2 Rogers/Yahoo email accounts, one of which is my primary account, the other a secondary account. I was asked to authenticate the secondary account first, which went well. I then clicked on my primary account in the left-hand pane and was again asked to authenticate, but the dialogue box showed it was for the secondary account. Thinking that this secondary account authentication was just being repeated for no particular reason, and not thinking that the email address in the authentication request box could be changed, I clicked Agree. My primary account is now showing the exact same emails as are listed in the secondary account, and I'm extremely concerned that I will not be able to recover all of the thousands of emails in my primary account, many of which are business-related. When I log into my primary account on the Rogers/Yahoo mail website, the emails in the primary account are still showing, so I know they are still on the Rogers IMAP server. However, I really want to continue to use my primary account on Thunderbird. I'm not sure if I should delete the primary account and recreate it - the Rogers support tech said that deleting the account may result in an issue where my current password for a re-created primary account may not be recognized, so I'm leaving things as they are until I hear back. It the advice is to not delete and recreate the account, what steps can I take to recover the emails on my primary account in Thunderbird. With the recent update on Thunderbird, and installing it on a new computer, I can't seem to locate where the setting is that shows "Read" after so many seconds of viewing. Could someone redirect me? Thanks so very much!

Hi everyone. I have installed Firefox on all windows 10 workstations and I have also installed latest Firefox Group Policy ADMX on Server. I need to set some preferences on all Workstations. The preferences that I want to set are the ones that can be found in about:config.

But the problem is that only some of these preferences exist in Group Policy by default and it says "deprecated". I know that I can add additional about:config preferences in a Group Policy object called "Preferences". But no matter how I enter the format or how I change the JASON file, no preference policy is applied to Firefox in workstations. By the way when I change "Preferences" gpo in group Policy the next Policy called "Preferences (JASON on one file)" does also change. I have thoroughly searched the web and Mozilla support and have tested all suggestions but all to no avail. Can you please help me and Give me an example of how to do that? I would appreciate any answer in advance.

I clicked the 'a' key on a folder in my email and a stack of emails disappeared. Some unread and some requiring a response! They're not in the archive folder.

I accidentally pressed a lot of keys on my keyboard and for some reason the default colors of Firefox have changed. I found out that by using Ctrl+Alt+D that I can switch the colors back to normal or to the colors that now appear automatically, but this only works for one tab. If I open a new tab, it shows the weird colors (see images below). I tried looking up specific shortcuts for Firefox considering the shortcut mentioned before (Ctrl+Alt+D) only works on Firefox. But I can't find any shortcut tied to that combination. I'm unsure what to do and how to fix this.

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to fix this.

Hyperlink insertion only works in troubleshoot modes but not in main mode even if all extensions and hardware acceleration are turned off (used this guide: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird#w_the-problem-no-longer-happens-in-troubleshoot-mode)

First time posting here, so I'm hoping that someone can help me out.

I'm encountering a very odd issue on my Macbook Pro running MacOS Sonoma 14.4. I am unable to access two sites – allrecipes.com, and seriouseats.com on my home WiFi network on the Macbook.

These sites work on other browsers (tested on Safari and Chrome), and they also work on my iPhone.

Oddly, when I went to work and tried to access these sites via WiFi using Firefox, I was able to.

I am unsure what the problem is – the ability to access these sites on Safari, Chrome, and my iPhone at home suggests that it's not a network issue. I haven't encountered this issue with any other sites.

When I download PDFs on my MacBook using Firefox (currently 124.0.2 (64-bit)), they are always blank - I have attached a screen shot.

But if I download the same PDF using Safari, it opens straightaway - 2nd screen shot.

Is there something I need to adjust in Firefox to allow PDFs to open?

Anyone else had the problem of not being able to sign in to the Amazon Parent Dashboard via Firefox? But works on Chrome. Same on desktop and android versions of Firefox.

Amazon chat support not helpful and just told me to use Chrome!

Just updated a friend's computer from Windows 7 to 10. Installed firefox over previous ESR and now there's no way to remove the search bar from the new tab page. On my W10 system, the search bar isn't there, not sure how or why, but on her's there's no option NOT to show it as there used to be.

I found some VERY old (2014) info on this but doesn't seem to be up to date.

PLEASE give us our options back and stop taking them away, sheesh, getting as bad as Microsoft.

Is there a workaround for this to remove the redundant search bar from the new tab page since you can search from the address bar?

I recently moved to a new Windows machine and can not send mail from either hotmail or gmail accounts. I am able to send and receive from my account at outlook.office.com, but hotmail uses outlook.office365.com as the mail server.

Thunderbird Version: 115.10.0 Windows 11 Version: 23H2

The message I receive when trying to send is: Sending of the message failed peer's certificate has an invalid signature the configuration related to smtp.gmail.com must be corrected (also for smtp.office365.com)

I did try all of the fixes advised here, as the error message certainly matched what I was seeing: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1295861 so my settings in TB are currently: security.tls.version.min = 1 security.tls.version.enable-deprecated = true

The final suggestion in the above thread was to move back to Thunderbird version 68.11.0, which I will try if nothing comes of this thread by the weekend.

Ubuntu 22.04, TB 115.10.0 (64-bit). A system update occurred recently, and TB was in the list to upgrade. Now, TB transacts email & such w/o problem. However, when I use the window exit ('X' upper right corner) or the File ->Quit choice, a status bar shows "Clearing Trash" or the like, and remains on the desktop. Eventually a system message appears that TB is not responding (wait or force quit). Nothing happens until force quit is used.

Same behavior screen is seen if I try to use the TB troubleshooting menu option.

Any suggestions how to diagnose this? Thx.

I've been trying out Thunderbird and Spark for the past few weeks, and decided to go with Thunderbird to replace Windows Mail. After uninstalling Spark, I changed all my email passwords, and now Thunderbird can't connect. I deleted my Google and Xfinity email accounts from Thunderbird, then closed and reopened the program, but I'm still getting this error from Google when I fill in the credential info it automatically asks for when re-adding it to my account:

"400. That’s an error.

The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know."

On the "set up your existing email address" page in Thunderbird, I'm getting this error (see image), even though the copy/pasted password works fine when logging directly into Google.

I also can't reconnect to Xfinity at all. The 3rd party box is checked in their system, but when Thunderbird tries to connect, it looks like it's auto-filling and submitting a password on my behalf, without stopping on that screen so I can change it.

I have .menu-right { filter: invert(100%) !important; but it only turns the arrows white in some locations but not in the bookmarks menu and not in the right-click menu.

Is there a way to enable sounds when the built in pop-up blocker blocks a pop-up or make the banner more noticeable? I often dont realize a pop-up has been blocked and cant figure out why I' not getting the new content

I have had message filters set up for a long time. Recently I tried to make some changes (adding one filter, deleting others, changing the response). I find that if I close Thunderbird and reopen it, all my changes are gone! How can I get the filter changes to stick?
