Greetings.

I'm trying to work out using email clients on multiple computers, including a new one. I've been having various issues; one of the things that I started trying to do was to change our "legacy" email from POP to IMAP, using the suggested steps here:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switch-pop-imap-account

That hasn't worked however. I opened a separate query for that here:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1330505

So now I'm trying to re-enable my legacy POP settings - but it's not working! Now when I re-check "leave messages on the server" - I get this error message back:

The POP3 mail server (pop.aol.com) does not support UIDL or XTND XLST, which are required to implement the ``Leave on Server, ``Maximum Message Size or ``Fetch Headers Only options. To download your mail, turn off these options in the Server Settings for your mail server in the Account Settings window.

So it appears that something has changed in the way that TB sends this setting to the AOL POP3 server. The old method worked - the new method does not. And unfortunately unchecking and then re-checking the setting within TB caused it to now start using the new not-compatible method!

Help please!

Is there any way I can revert to using the old method? E.g. perhaps is there a way I can restore my old server settings profile?

Thanks.

(P.S. the more I read about it - the more I prefer POP over IMAP. I want to be able to use email across multiple devices while leaving emails on the server - but only leaving them for a limited period of time, for security and space reasons. This appears to only be supported in POP not IMAP (?), which seems bizarre if true.)

Hey there! I was just reading an article that said you should only download Firefox from the official website. I downloaded Firefox a few months ago, so I'm honestly not sure where I downloaded it from. Is there any way for me to tell if I am using a "real" Firefox?

Thanks :)

I'm trying to import my saved logins and passwords from Chrome to Firefox. When to try to do this I get prompted to create a Primary Password. Whenever I try to do this, I get a message saying, "Unable to set Primary Password." I also can't cancel out of this or switch to another tab--I have to ctrl-alt-del and close Firefox to get out of it. I also can't create a Primary Password through the options menu. Anytime I try to set a primary password it just says "Unable to change Primary Password."

Failed ImportExport of a large folder.

Input folder of several hundred messages inThunderbird 78.8.1 was exported using ImportExportTools NG to a 600 KB file with filename "Inbox" and no file extension - which I understand is an mbox file.

Importing that file into a Local folder gives only one message.

QUESTION: How can all the messages in that file be recovered?

tried OS update with Linux opensuse leap 15.1 - failed loaded opensuse Leap 15.2 - worked, wiped out my printer connections (hp deskjet 1510 all in one) have tried all of the options I found on website, failed. hp does not work with Linux products on line. there was a good printer CUPS file for opensuse 15.1 for deskjet 1510, but load of Leap 15.2 wiped it out. guidance/ help would be appreciated. email jimmylhill@q.com (Leap 15.2 wiped out send with Q.com because it is a two step send/receive process for Qwest, but receive works fine.)

Used to be able to download files from anywhere I chose. Now, cannot download from www.bluesound.com. ISP and I ran test that shows download and upload work, and AT&T e-mails are arriving into MS Outlook (although very much slower than in the past).

When download request sent to Bluesound, the wait cursor spins indefinitely. Once left it running overnight, still spinning the next morning.

Perhaps this has to do with security settings. Advice, anyone?

When i try and sign in to google in the popup window, I can't. I enter my email and then the page refreshes. It seems to be the old sign in design for google. I believe this is as a result of my hardening of Firefox. How to undo these changes for this sign in process?

Hello, I downloaded thunderbird on my new laptop via wifi/lan. Thunderbird POP 3 was running on my desktop. During the IMAP insallation it messed up Thunderbird on the desktop which was not working anymore. After setting it up for IMAP my.magenta servers (T-Mobile) I can receive messages but cant send, SMTP SERVER TIMED OUT. I am using webmail now. As I can see there are no more POP entries in the CONFIG file. I sent screenshots to magenta and E-Mails about three Weeks ago about the SMTP issue but never received a reply, meaning they don't know nothing about it. My main problem is the laptop: All settings are o.k. for the magenta servers but I seen in CONFIG that there is not one entry for magenta but I counted 10 POP strings. Error message THIS IS NOT AN IMAP SERVER Anfortunately Thunderbird is not making a complet new installation as long as it can find any old insallation on the commputer or any computer on the network no matter if it is a funktinal one or not. I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinsalled it on both, but no change what so ever. except for loosing all stored data. Is there a way to change the profile and correct the CONFIG ? OS for desktop is Windows 7 and the HP laptop has Windows 10. Thank you very much in advance. Best regards, Alf

I selected the setting "Always ask you where to save files". However, when I download files, Firefox automatically dumped the files into the Windows Temp folder. It never asked me where to save the files. I think this is a bug in this most recent version of Firefox (It used to ask me where to save the files in previous versions.) I suggest the Firefox team to correct this issue. It may seem a minor inconvenience, but it is distracting as I have to try to "dig out" the downloaded file among the sea of files in the Windows Temp folder.

I downloaded the latest version of Thunderbird for Windows 10. I installed it. I started it from my non-administrator account. I entered the server information. After a couple of minutes, I realized that I had forgotten to un-check the box to synchronize messages (which can fill gigabytes of my hard disk). I un-checked it. But Thunderbird kept downloading messages. I rebooted, then uninstalled Thunderbird. It kept my account settings. (I wish that the uninstaller would give an option to remove *all* files!) I opened Windows Explorer and did a search from the administrator account to try to remove old files and folders with "Thunderbird" in their name. It found nothing. I switched to my non-administrator account and tried another search. It found two folders named Thunderbird under AppData. I removed them. I rebooted. Then I reinstalled Thunderbird. I was able to be quick enough to un-check the box to synchronize accounts before it downloaded too much data (luckily I have slow Internet, so not too much was downloaded before I could cancel!). I tapped the Alt key to force Thunderbird to show the menu bar. I clicked the View > Toolbars item. It showed a list of toolbars.

The "Quick Filter" toolbar was greyed. How do I get the Quick Toolbar option? It works on all of my other Thunderbird installations. Thank you.

PS: I suggest adding a setup option to ask whether to synchronize all messages -- to prevent downloading gigabytes of messages that (apparently?) can't easily be deleted. My laptop has a total of 64 GB of storage.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and MS Office 2019 Professional Plus and need to re-install a lot of stuff. I want to download Firefox to use as my default web browser. When I download and install, the icon shows up on my desktop all right, but when I click the icon to open the browser, the tab says "Problem loading page" and displays "File not found" error message (screenshot attached here).

Does this have anything to do with the "Sync" option that keeps popping up? I don't know what that means, except it looks like it wants to "sync" my computer with my phone or any other devices, which I don't have any interest in.

Please help! Thank you!

Hi, I am attempting to follow the various posts/videos to migrate my Thunderbird account to a new PC. This is necessary as my old PC is having hard drive problems and keeps crashing. I tried 1 suggested simple fix of just shutting down my explorer from the task manager but I still got the class not registered error. Unfortunately I believe the faulty hard drive is the reason I am getting a class not registered error when I try and open my profile folder (at least from 1 post I read). Thunderbird has also been crashing, again likely because of the hard drive. Anyway I can work around this problem?
