(The automatically collected mail-connections als well as the ´by hand-added-ones´) I still do have a "healthy-version" of the Thunderbird before on my Notebook; but I cannot find the place, where the Adress-Datas are stored (and I dont know the name and type of the adress-data-files.) I have been a Thunderbird user for many years and am on the release update channel. My calendar tab disappeared when I updated to version 68. I have followed the steps outlined in re-setting Lightning to no avail. I have verified that Lightning is version 68 also. The google calendar addon is version 68 also. Not sure where the problem lies or how to fix it but not having my calendar tab is a show stopper for me.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi there, I'm trying to use an ics calendar from the file filesystem of my iMac generated from org-mode (in emacs). When I enable generating VTODO's importing fails at this line in calIcsParser.js:

cal.ERROR("Error Parsing ICS: " + rc + aICSString);

with the following message:

Lightning: Error Parsing ICS: 2152333568

I tried using the Developer Toolbox to debug the issue, but I can't figure out how to debug calICSService-worker.js where the actual parsing takes place. If I make the following call before the string is passed to the service ( i.e. in calICSCalendar.js ) it seems to parse just fine.

ChromeUtils.import( "resource://calendar/modules/ical.js" ).ICAL.parse(str)

So I'm stuck. The call to cal.getIcsService().parseICSAsync(...) is just a black hole where something goes wrong.

I'm happy to try to debug it myself, but I need some tips. I'm also happy to provide more information or clarify if anything is unclear.

Thanks for your help with this.

-Doug.

P.S. I googled around for a while but found nothing useful.

All the rest is working fine, creating event, modifying events... Only the convert email to event/task.

I have tried to disable all plugins but Lightning, the problem remain.

dear community,

whenever i receive an ics invitation to a calendar event, information about this event is shown directly in the email. however, i'd prefer if the ics file would be shown as attachment (which it isn't currently!). i couldn't find any setting changing this behaviour (e.g. tried "inline attachments" on/off, searched around in the advanced settings editor). according to some google searches the rest of the internet seems to have the opposite problem, that they don't want to see ics files as attachments. so also here no luck. i'd be grateful for any pointers.

cheers tim

Difficulties importing Calendar from Outlook 2007 to Thunderbird

HI, I have recently bought a new computer and as part of the changes I have decided to ditch my previous Microsoft packages as I do not wish to pay for Office 365.

Part of this change has meant exporting my emails and Calendar from my long serving Outlook 2007 and I have decided to use Mozilla Thunderbird for both of these functions.

The emails section is now working ok but I am having issues with both Calendar and Contacts.

I followed guidance for exporting the Calendar from Outlook 2007 and importing it to Thunderbird. The individual Diary/Events do appear in Thunderbird but there are no details included in the entry. The Event simply has the start and end time and the title "Busy".

I am not sure whether my error is in the exporting from Outlook 2007, the importing to Thunderbird or something else?

Hopefully you can give me some guidance to resolve as I really need my diary to function effectively. Thanks

Just got back from 8 months out of country, and when moving my profile from my laptop to my desktop, my Lightning Calendar does not appear on the desktop. Calendar still functions correctly on my laptop, but never appears on the desktop. Both machines running Tbird 68.9.0 and Lightning 68.9.0. Procedure I use is to copy profile folder on my laptop (when Thunderbird is not running), then move that copy to the profile folder of the desktop, rename it to the correct profile file name, and start Thunderbird on the desktop. Can anyone help me get my Lightning Calendar running on the desktop? Thanks, Jeff

I have TB 60 on a Mac with OS 10.9. Every morning when I wake the computer, Calendar automatically updates to show the day and date for the new day. I have TB 68 on another Mac with OS 10.15. Calendar never automatically updates to show the day and date for the new day. It's not a big deal, but, at my age, it's nice to have an accurate display because sometimes I do forget the day and/or date, and I have to remember to manually update the Calendar display. Thanks for any feedback.

Provider for Google Calendar - 68.2.1 Thunderbird & Lightning - 68.4.1 Windows 10 Home 1909 (18363.592)

Almost all of the commands dealing with the calendar in Thunderbird are grayed out. My Google and other calendars no longer show up as an entry in the list of calendars. Individual calendar entries appear on calendar tab with existing info but are read only. I can not open/edit an individual calendar entry or create a new one.

I used to be able to recover from this situation by closing the calendar in Thunderbird and then closing Thunderbird. Create new event or edit an existing event by logging into Google Calendar directly. Logoff Google Calendar and then logon to Thunderbird and either open the Today Pane or the Calendar tab.

I have reported the problem on the forum for the Provider and been told that my problem looks like it has to do with Thunderbird and Lightning. I have tried several of the suggestions on this forum but they have not resolved the problem. The best result was with Safe Mode & Add-ons Disabled which lasted for just one application restart after doing that. Any help would be appreciated.

For some weeks now, updates that have been carried out automatically have bugged me, even though "Check for updates, ..." is set. The last version was 68.10.0 a few days ago. Again and again I had problems with the calendar function due to the automatic updates. I use "Provider for Google Calendar" to synchronize appointments. I do not want to make address data or birthdays accessible to Google and I used Thunderbirthday to display birthdays locally. A few days ago, there was again an automatic update to 78.0 (32bit) and total failure of all created (Google) calendars and the birthday calendar. "Provider for Google Calendar" is no longer compatible, eat or die ...! I'm getting tired of this (Thunderbird)! Why can't I turn off these goddamn automatic updates, why do I have new updates in quick succession that always cause calendar problems? Why is there no built-in tool to restore the previous version? How can I solve my calendar problem under 78.0 and also bring the local birthday calendar back to life?

Thank you for all you do! I'm a longtime user of Thunderbird, and I rely on it tremendously. (I also regularly donate!)

I've recently had to install the Owl for Exchange plugin (https://www.beonex.com/owl/) due to my work changing its Exchange system. It has worked relatively well for several weeks, but now I've encountered a major problem.

Calendar events do not update. This includes not just the calendar that Owl uses, but also my two CalDAV calendars on a separate system. If I disable the Owl plugin, the others still don't work. If I create a new event in TB on one of the CalDAV calendars, it appears remotely, but not on TB.

I imagine something has gotten mucked up in the calendar database. Perhaps there's some way I could wipe that locally and re-sync with the remote calendars? I actually now can't even delete calendars. If I try to unsubscribe from one, when I restart the program, it's back (though grayed out).

I am running Thunderbird 68.10.0 on MX Linux. The plugins are up to date.

Thanks so much in advance for your assistance with this.

This morning I open my laptop and there's no Thunderbird. Icon is missing and a search of the hard drive comes up empty. A truly WTF moment. I Googled this phenomenon and ended up downloading and reinstalling Thunderbird. All email folders and email returned (thank god).

The lighting Calendar now only shows events from one of five I had enabled with the others all saying "The provider for this calendar could not be found. This often happens if you have disabled or uninstalled certain addons.

The location shows the URL (e.g., googleapi://...) and an email address, but the Enable This Calendar check box is greyed out.

All I did was the forced-to-update reinstall of Thunderbird.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
