In previous versions of Firefox, using an alternative search engine was seamless: I just typed my keywords and clicked the specific search engine icon.

With the current update, the workflow is much longer. Now I have to:

1. Type the keywords 2. Click the dropdown arrow 3. Select the alternative search engine icon 4. Hit Enter

Why was this UX change made? It feels like a step backward.

I am confused because I downloaded Firefox and I thought that was going to be my new browser replacing Safari and then I downloaded the DuckDuckGo thinking that was going to be the search engine that replaces Google now it looks as though their arrivals and then I don't understand how they both work and I'm very confused can you please help explain what each of them are and what their uses are and if I should have both of them are only one. i have bit-warden, u-block-origin and stylus installed (but they shouldn't be running on the 'new-tab-page' - is my firefox sync-profile containing some firefox-breaking-errors? (latest Win-11)
