I have 374 saved Passwords & User names in Firefox on my computer. Just bought a new PC and want to transfer the data to firefox or chrome on new unit. How can I do that? Is it possible to transfer the data?

Hello . 2 maybe 3 days ago when i went to use Firefox to check my email etc there was an update available.

I did the usual thing and accepted the update , that id seam to go as normal

However since that update all of my short cuts to my save/favourite site as now disappeared completely , now even any blank icons ??

Your advice please.

I'm an older pensioner, I've no wish to learn more tech stuff which is unconnected with my question. For years I've been concerned at the invasive nature of Microsoft products and so want to get rid of Win10/11 and install another OS. (I have hundreds of documents in Wordpad (.rtf) and MS are just cancelling it!) It'll probably be Linux based. So, simply I want to take my existing Firefox browser with passwords etc., to my new OS. I asked this question in Firefox and it seems Mozilla can't get over the fact that I don't want change my iOS browser to a synched up Firefox. I don't want my phone connected to my pc. Perhaps that is difficult for today's tech whizz-kids to understand but I can't help that. I'm not really technical but have had Firefox for nearly 30 years, so can anyone tell me if it's possible to copy my Firefox into a folder somewhere perhaps, and reconstitute it to work with my new OS? It certainly used to be possible. Thanks.

Tell me how to get all my bookmarks to appear again after they recently disappeared. When I got the bookmarks back in the toolbar only half of them show up. What happened to the bookmark icon on my toolbar? Microsoft edge still has my bookmarks easily available!

i attempted to update my Firefox this morning and the app froze and refused to reopen after multiple attempts. i decided to throw the app away and re-download firefox on my desktop, but now have no access to my bookmarks, open tabs (history) and passwords. please assist!

Yesterday I opened Firefox and found that it had completed a factory reset (without asking me) and I have lost all of my data and settings, particularly from plugins (Simple Tab Groups for example). I have a folder called Old Firefox Data on my desktop, and I have copied the files into the profiles folder from about:support, but I have still lost all my settings.

This is extremely frustrating and will take a lot of time to get everything back to how it was. Please let me know how to restore to my old state.

Hello, I had 2 firefox applications open on my pc and on these 2 applications I had different separate tabs/sessions then if I closed one after the other. This caused the one that was closed first to not reopen when firefox was launched, only the other, is there any way to bring back the session that was closed first

Apparently, there was a Windows Update last night (Windows 10). Bookmarks disappeared on Firefox. Went to Manage Bookmarks tab. Went to Import and Backup. Then Restore. There's a prompt to Choose File, but nothing appears. Also, on the left side of the Library window it is blank. On a support page, it showed some sort of list of bookmarks. Nothing like that when I pull it up.

Firefox quit working on my bench window 's 10 computer. I finally had to uninstall Firefox. I then installed a new version of Firefox. Question: did all my saved website locations that I had on original Firefox version get wiped out too? If not, how can I locate them and bring them up again.

I managed to find my Backup-files in my Mozilla-files, but upon copying it i only got my closed Tabs back and not my closed Tab-Groups. I lost like months worth of Tabs and dont know how to restore them.

Hello, after a power cut I lost all my bookmarks. When I try "Manage Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Restore -> Choose File..." nothing happens.

In the folder ".mozilla/firefox/6924v31j.default-1728390329118/bookmarkbackups" there are several backup files, but the newest has the date Jun 25, though the name suggests it's from Jul 2: -rw-r--r-- 23850 Jun 25 13:07 'bookmarks-2025-07-02_184_mg1znof1NbBiyJ14ZcO9SluvTvLZI-rxPSm20YZUJww=.jsonlz4'

In the directory ".mozilla/firefox/6924v31j.default-1728390329118" there is also places.sqlite from Jul 4 11:59 (that was the moment when the power was cut).

How can I restore my bookmarks?

I did my monthly Norton 360 system scans and updates last night, and maybe it is coincidence, but all of my Firefox bookmarks are now missing, and there is no browsing History showing. I have tried the import/restore steps but each date I try to restore from I get an error message - "Unable to process the backup file".

I reinstalled windows on my pc after syncing all my browser data (bookmarks etc) everything but some bookmarks, i have 4 folders and 2 of them had all that was in there and the other 2 where empty is it possible to get them back somehow?
