I am so glad I make regular complete backups. Version 146 is a hot mess. Highlighted subject lines flashing, folders disappearing, On the second start of Thunderbird 146 I could no longer connect to hotmail, gmail, aol, juno, yahoo, All broke. Ended wiping 146 off the computer with REVO, deleting the profiles and reinstalling 145 and recovering the profiles and messages I used with 145 from backups made 2 days ago. Running the latest version of Windows 11. No need to reply, just a fair warning.

When using shared group calendars (as it's commonly found in small companies) all events that are marked as "public" are visible with details on personal calendars that are shared on some public calendar. Changing to "private" solves, but one need to remember doing this while creating an event.

It would be very useful to have an option for switching to "private by default" when creating a new event. Any possibility? Anyone else with the same need?

Good afternoon, I am using Thunderbird for many years now. In the last ~2 years I have seen several times the subfolders of the mail folder disappearing from the list on the left panel. All of them are correctly subscribed. I would like to know if there exists a way to recover them different from deleting the account and recreating it. I am currently running Windows 11 Pro 25 H2 with Thunderbird 145.0.

Hello, I just upgraded to a new mac and installed a fresh download of Thunderbird. Things are working well except for trouble subscribing to this astronomy calendar: https://cantonbecker.com/astronomy-calendar/astrocal.ics It works OK on my old mac/Thunderbird setup, but not on the new setup.

Details: New system, where the astrocal calendar doesn't work: MacBook Air M4 2025, running MacOS Tahoe 26.1, Thunderbird 146.0

Old system, where the astrocal calendar works: MacBook Air Intel i5 2017, running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6, Thunderbird 115.10.1 (64 bit)

My steps to subscribe are Event and Tasks tab click Calendar On the bottom left I click New Calendar This opens a Create new Calendar window. Click On the network, Next I select "This location doesn't require credentials" and "Offline support" I fill in the URL: https://cantonbecker.com/astronomy-calendar/astrocal.ics, then click Find Calendars At this point on the new Thunderbird I get the error: Could not find calendars at this location. Please check your settings. (screenshot) But on the old Thunderbird I get that astrocal is available, and it actually works.

Any ideas? Is it a bug in the latest version of Thunderbird?

Peter H. PS: The new mac's default Calendar app subscribes to the astrocal calendar OK. It's just the new Thunderbird that has trouble. PPS: The new Thunderbird does successfully subscribe to another calendar, of Japanese holidays https://ics.calendarlabs.com/54/44bd6152/Japan_Holidays.ics That makes me more confused as to where the problem lies.

I tried changing the value of the field "Displayed name" (I am translating this from the French, I hope it is correct) and select the default email address of that contact, then clicked "Save". It briefly (for a second or so) displayed the contact correctly (with the new displayed name and selected default email) but then reverted immediately to the previous values. When I clicked to edit it, the changes I had made had disappeared. How do I set the values in a contact??? Thanks.

I am very excited about the new PDF signature feature in Thunderbird, awesome to not have to do this externally.

However, I am still trying to find a way to streamline a common workflow for me: I get a an email with pdfs attached where I need to insert signatures in a few places and send this back. My current workflow is the following: i open each pdf attachment, add the signature, save it to a file, and then open the email reply and reattach the correct files and all of them. It is this indirection via files that actually created the biggest headache for me, as it's a bit too easy to mess up here.

I also tried going via the "reply with attachments" extension, to have the reply email with all attachments already, but there seems to be no way to then edit them in thunderbird.

Am I missing something obvious for how to do this? Given that I am surely not the only one doing this, I am hoping someone has already figured this one out?

I have Mozilla Thunderbird installed, the Yandex mail instructions say - The server name is imap.yandex.ru and the server name is smtp.yandex.ru . with such constructions, the mail does not arrive. Mozilla uses ru - com instead by default and everything works, but it feels like it's wrong because everything slows down terribly. I'm new to Thunderbird. Today I installed and exported ALL my data from Outlook for Mac. I then used Olminator to successfully convert to eml and ics files for import to Thunderbird. The eml file import for my email worked great, as did my contacts. However, when I try importing the resulting ics file, I get this error:

we use Thunderbird for several business e‑mail accounts (for example info@… and similar), all configured as IMAP, and the same mailboxes are used by multiple people on several computers. Our mail server hostname is nickel.studio4web (Studio4web hosting).

We have noticed the following strange behaviour of messages (usually customer orders):

A new message arrives normally in the “Inbox” folder.

After some time, for example the next day, the same message also appears in the “Trash” folder, but it is still visible in “Inbox” at the same time.

We checked the headers; the Message‑ID field is exactly the same in both Inbox and Trash, so it looks like one and the same mail that exists in two folders at once.

In Thunderbird Server Settings we configured the delete behaviour so that messages are either moved to Trash or removed immediately (we tested both options), and after that we ran Compact on both the Inbox and Trash folders. However, some messages still remain simultaneously in Inbox and Trash.

We know that other team members open the same accounts in other clients / on mobile phones or in webmail, but we are not sure whether that alone can explain this double appearance of the same message (Inbox + Trash).

For example, two order emails from 03.12. were in Inbox only on that day, and today we see them also in Trash, while they are still in Inbox. No one remembers explicitly deleting them.

Questions:

Is this behaviour normal for IMAP in Thunderbird, or does it indicate some bug or wrong configuration?

Is there a way to prevent a single message from being present in both “Inbox” and “Trash” at the same time (so that it is either only in Inbox or only in Trash)?

What else should we check in Thunderbird settings or on the mail server (filters, special IMAP options, automatic cleanup, server‑side rules, etc.) to avoid such “duplicate” messages?

5 accounts are defined. Some filters work on startup, but new ones do not. Manually running filter results in "could not get folder db"

Hello there, i use CachyOS and use Thunderbird for my mails, but recently realized that i can login into matrix chat too so i decided to use it because its pretty simple, but when i want to verify my session, i got a problems and even passcode phrase wont help

On phone its continiously "loading" secure check but in fact trying 3 times and cancel verification cause of failture, what i should do with it?

Thunderbird shows the number of emails downloaded but I can not see them in my inbox, or anywhere else. Using Thunderbird 115.5.2 (64-bit) on an older iMac on OS 10.12. Email account is gmail, and using POP. I've tried 'repair folders" with no change. I've deleted old emails from the Gmail server. Would appreciate any help.

I use a search-based folder that simply combines the messages from the spam folders of multiple accounts. There is no actual query, it's set to "Match all messages". For several years now, that has resulted in a search folder where the first message in the list appears twice. I can't delete both of them, but if I delete one, and shift away, then go back, the duplicate is always gone.

This is not exactly a critical bug, but it is annoying and causes a little extra work. It would be nice to have it fixed.

I am currently running 140.5.0esr (64-bit) under Windows 10, but this has been true for quite a few versions back.

Is there other information I can provide that would be useful?

Thunderbird version 140.5.0esr 32 bit now seems to dismiss reminders on its own -- i.e. without authorization/permission.

This makes the calendar/reminders feature worthless, at least to me.

Am I missing some setting so the old behavior can return? (Previously, each reminder would have to be dismissed or snoozed manually before it would vanish from the reminders window)
