I use the Thunderbird calendar in version 147.0.1. The calendar syncs with CalDav and works great. Although when the reminder pop-up appears i am not able to snooze (postpone) an event or delete na event. Nothing happens and the reminder keeps popping up every 5 minutes (as in the settings) untill the event has passed. Even worse, when i enable show missed missed events, i cannot even delete the old events in the list.

I wanted to create a calendar event from a message. My purpose was to have a reminder and have the information that was in the message.

I knew this could be done, because I had stumbled on to it before, but I could not remember how I did it.

Again I stumbled on to the procedure. You right click on the message. Select Organize / Convert To and then select Event or Task.

This information should be in Help. I am sure I am not the only one that would like to use this option.

when starting a new calendar entry, this may look like this: textline one

textline two (three spaces at begin)
textline three (6 spaces at begin)
     textline with tab right

end of testtext

After closing the edit, the text looks like this: textline one textline two (three spaces at begin) textline three (6 spaces at begin)

textline with tab right

textline with bullet point

end of testtext

However, the edits on my phone, as shown in the image, show that the text structure commands are still there (except bullet point got lost).

So here is my question: how can I get the calendar entries show the obviously maintained text structure?

The Hilton hotel reservation produces the following .ics file (with some edits for privacy), which fails on import. Deleting lines like the second block will import correctly. I can make this edit when needed, so this is more of a bug report than a question. I have not tried to narrow it down more, this is something I do once every couple of months.

I have been using ThunderBird on Linux Mint for some time now. I am using Outlook.com for emails, calendar and contacts and I sync with another laptop and mobile phone. All fine until a few days ago when I noticed calendar events were not syncing with my phone. I found one calendar event in ThunderBird had an error when I manually synced with TbSync. The error report did not say anything specific. I deleted this calendar event and TbSync ran successfully uploading 2 events that it had not uploaded due to the calendar sync error. I then wanted to manually recreate this calendar event in ThunderBird. When I clicked on "New Event", the Calendar New Event pop-up window did not appear. When I minimised the ThunderBird window, the New Events was not behind it. The ThunderBird icon pinned to the panel had a "2" in the corner. When I hovered over the ThunderBird icon in the panel, it showed both the ThunderBird window and New Event window preview. When I selected the New Event preview window in the panel, it still did not become visible. All I could do with with New Event preview window in the panel was click in the 'X' to close it. I checked for Lightning Calendar Tab add-on updates. It was up to date. I check the settings. All OK. I disabled and enabled this add-on. Still not working. My Windows habits made me shutdown and restart my device. Still Not working. When I checked the other ThunderBird functions, New Event pop-up windows appeared for Emails and Contacts but not Tasks which had the same symptoms as the Calendar.

When I receive an event invite and I accept it Thunderbird only gives me the option to save the event to a local calendar and not to any shared calendars located remotely on a NAS. Is there a way to have Thunderbird also display the remote calendars? And after I accept an event is there a way to move the accepted event to a different calendar? Thank you for your inputs in advance!

I'm new to Thunderbird. Today I installed and exported ALL my data from Outlook for Mac. I then used Olminator to successfully convert to eml and ics files for import to Thunderbird. The eml file import for my email worked great, as did my contacts. However, when I try importing the resulting ics file, I get this error:

If you’re seeing this message after snoozing or dismissing a reminder and this is for a calendar you do not want to add or edit events for, you can mark this calendar as read-only to avoid such experience in future. To do so, get to the calendar properties by right-clicking on this calendar in the list in the calendar or task view.

I've tried importing to the 'Home' calendar, and also creating a new calendar for the import but nothing works.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thunderbird doesn't carry over calendar events alerts/reminders after updates to it or reboots generally, at least in Ubuntu (24.04).

I expected my events and reminders to carry over even after updates and computer reboots. They don't. I missed an important appointment because of that oversight. Thunderbird used to work.

I doubt that there's an existing fix for this, so Thunderbird Calendar needs to be updated so that Calendar events alerts don't disappear after updates or reboots. Meanwhile, I'm looking around for email and calendar apps that don't have this problem.

Thanks

When using shared group calendars (as it's commonly found in small companies) all events that are marked as "public" are visible with details on personal calendars that are shared on some public calendar. Changing to "private" solves, but one need to remember doing this while creating an event.

It would be very useful to have an option for switching to "private by default" when creating a new event. Any possibility? Anyone else with the same need?

I have a new issue with Event invitations.

Previously if I received an invite, the email would display a button to accept, and if I accepted it would - send an email response - add it to my Thunderbird calendar.

Now if I receive an invite, there is simply a blue banner at the top saying "This message contains an invitation to an event".

It usually does not show the event details at all, and there is no integration with calendar. No button to accept no way to interact with it.

Until the latest ESR update of Thunderbird, invitations worked perfectly. I switched to Release update (v147) and still seeing the same issue on Macos.

Hello,

I accept Teams events over the email, but cannot join them because the Join Meeting hyperlink is removed in the event's description. When I try to edit the event's description manually, the Edit option in the event's context menu (right click) is grayed out as can be seen in the attached picture. I also did not find any other way to change the event's description to insert the Teams meeting URL.

How do I fully edit events, including description and event dates? I need to have calendar events based on Teams meeting invitations work out-of-the-box. How do I achieve this?

Note: Exporting an individual calendar event would also help me solve this problem, but I don't think such a feature exists. If there would be, I would have exported the broken event, correct it manually, delete the old one from Thunderbird, open the event with Thunderbird and then add back the corrected version.

Thank you, Razvan Chisa
