My old email server was Mediacom (mchsi.com). I had that email account plus a gmail account on Thunderbird. Sometimes people said their emails to my gmail account would bounce. I changed email servers and no longer have the mchsi.com email or Mediacom server and have 2 gmail accounts on Thunderbird. The new one works fine. When I send an email to the old gmail account it bounces back saying "address not found. Your message wasn't delivered to ------@mchsi.com because the address could not be found or is unable to receive mail. 550 5.1.1 I had the tech that sold me the PC look at the settings on Thunderbird for the gmail account and he said they were okay. Where else can he check? Somehow the pc thinks that just that one gmail account is run through or attached to mchsi.com Kathy foggiak@gmail.com

I've read this is a common issue but hoping maybe things have changed? Trying to make a filter that says move to the junk folder email where subject starts [SPAM] (the hosting service adds that) UNLESS the address is in an address book, BUT I also need to accept everything from numerous domains. I see work arounds "if the address ends in @somedomain.com" but then I'd have to do that for every domain I want to receive from. Any email from any address where I have put *@domain.com in my address book should be let through. But I know TB doesn't accept wild cards in the address book. There MUST be some way around this? Hi there, since recently, I encounter the following error message when trying to send emails via Thunderbird on my mobile: Failed to send some messages. Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable DNS MX or A/AAAA resource record 1MgvvT...

The SMTP server settings are as shown on the attached screenshot. I haven't changed them since installing Thunderbird and the problem appears for the first time. Thunderbird version is 15.0.

Is there anything I can do about it, e.g. by changing my Thunderbird settings? Since gmx.net is a webmailing service, I cannot change their server configuration. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot to all of you!

I am trying to send emails from a software program through Mozilla to individual customers. I am receiving an error message. "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Message detected as spam. [1768849024-673587]." Can you help??

BlueHost has confirmed that our email (joe@wrigleyranch.com) and/or IP have not been blocked or blacklisted. We tested this together using the BlueHost WebMail app directly and can send and receive emails without an issue. We then tried again to send through Thunderbird. This is the exact and complete error message we received as we attempted to send a test message:

This did not occur until the latest update by Thunderbird/Mozilla on Jan 14, 2026 at 7:35pm, MST. It is ONLY Thunderbird that is refusing to send messages, returning this SMTP error message. BlueHost contends that since we are not blacklisted anywhere that this must be an error generated somehow by Thunderbird as we can send email through BlueHost web mail without an issue or rejection. Spamhaus.org also confirms that we are not blacklisted nor restricted. We are only affected when trying to use Thunderbird that we have been using for well over 5 years without any type of problem whatsoever... ever.

We are, however, getting a very odd message from you as we reset our password when we had trouble using our stored password:

WE ARE ON MAC OS X VENTURA 13.7.8. AND THE BROWSER WE ARE USING IS "BRAVE," NOT CHROME. Does this indicate or imply anything that may be wrong??? We are North of Phoenix in Flagstaff, AZ. So, this seems correct as an estimated location (150 miles North).

After thoroughly searching this database, I could not locate an answer to the issue I am facing, although there seem to have been several similar cases.

My former university has recently decided to delete alumni email accounts, so I am using Thunderbird for email transferring from university to GMail (added both accounts to Thunderbird and then began copying emails and folders). Transfer is slow, depending on the server capabilities etc., but I am going folder by folder and so far it has been fine. I began the transfers a week ago.

Last night I noticed my Thunderbird inbox for my school is not showing anymore. The profile folder is only showing one file (.msf) for Inbox, instead of what should be, in my understanding, two files.

Thunderbird is still communicating well with the university email server because I made a folder rearrangement on the university webmail service (outlook.com) and it showed on Thunderbird. In addition, all my Inbox emails appear fine on the university webmail service (outlook.com).

Any ideas? This is obviously important and urgent.

I have been using Thunderbird on my laptop for a few years. It stopped retrieving my emails and I have not been able to get any emails on Thunderbird since June 24, 2025. I have tried changing the pop3 & smtp settings to those currently recommended by at&t but it hasn't worked. Please help!

Around Jan. 4, I tried moving all of my Inbox contents to a new subfolder "Inbox 2025". This process was taking a long time and I didn't see it complete. Afterwards, I can start Thunderbird OK (version 115.3.1 (64-bit) running on a Windows 10 system). I see the new folder "Inbox 2025" and it seems complete. I also see other folders which look OK. But the incoming messages have frozen at 01/01/26 [for one e-mail account] and at 01/04/26 [for a second e-mail account.]

It is also true that all of my Thunderbird sessions end by crashing after a certain period of time. What can I do to restart Thunderbird so that it will connect with the relevant servers, get new messages and not crash?

Normally I use thunderbird via a spectrum isp. Am currently out of the area and am using a cyber street isp. I can receive emails in thunderbird but can no longer send emails. Server SMTP settings appear to be correct. server: mail.twc.com port: 587 connection security: STARTTLS

Spectrum help tells me that since I can send emails through their web mail interface, that the problem must be with thunderbird. Not sure I believe them, but here I am looking for suggestions. Thoughts anyone?

Outgoing email message states: Sending of the message failed. The message was not sent due to exceeding the allowed number of recipients. The server responded: Insufficient system storage.

I am not getting specific emails from ' Marcie Tilton Fabrics' . She sends 2 per day. I haven't gotten them for a couple months. I WANT THEM! I've called her company; I've resubscribed.

They are not in my bulk file.  Where are they?

They do not appear on my Thunderbird (PC- Mozilla), on my I-pad (Apple), on my phone(Samsung)

If I begin typing while before I begin a new message, sometimes a message will disappear and I can never find it again. For example an "A" will move it to the archives. But whatever letter I press, the message disappears. It's not in archives and not in trash. How do I find it again?
