Let's start all over. Thunderbird automatically updated and I have lost all entries in my calendar. I have had help with solving my problem which have not worked. How do I launch the Thunderbird about.config? I have been told to go to TOOLS and select OPTIONS. There is no OPTIONS to select under the under the TOOLS menu. I have 3 calendars and all are shown as ENABLED. What did the update change and how do I get my entries back?

So. Thunderbird released an update, I updated, and all my custom event colours, that I really need, have gone from old to current see attachments. This was asked https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1326997?utm_campaign=questions-reply#question-reply

And a solution found that worked. Now Mozilla in their ludicrous wisdom have somehow screwed this up again. Anyone have a solution that works? I and lots of other people like the whole event title bar being a single colour. These 'dots' at the end are useless to see. Thanks PS Stop screwing with the settings. What to add something new, then create an add-on.

Since the latest upgrade to version 91 the Calendar has become unusable. To start with, after the update my main Calendar has completely disappeared taking with it very important upcoming appointments. In addition to that if I create an event all the data entered does not appear in the relevant day in the calendar and it will also not allow me to import any future events from other calendars.

To put bluntly, as a calendar it is totally useless. Any suggestions please?

[Nov 17 I deleted "TB78" from the subject line when I realised the problem goes back earlier.] ICS makes message text invisible!

I have an online booking system and I can send and receive email messages to and from my clients via this. These emails contain both a text message, plus an ICS of the appointment the message relates to. All was well until I updated to TB78. Previous TB would show me both the information in the ICS file in an unboxed freeform format, plus the vital text message from my client at the top of the screen.

Now that is broken. First - this bit is not broken, this is just different - the ICS appears in a blue box in a structured layout. And - BIG problem - the text message appears nowhere in the email, neither before, in or after the blue ICS box. Ie the point of the email, the actual message, is not shown!

The problem is with TB78. If I go back to emails from before TB78 in which I could previously read the message, the message has no longer displayed. And if I access any of these emails in webmail, they all have to the old freeform unboxed format and the message perfectly visible.

This looks very like a bug in TB78 and I hope can be fixed or a setting that changes it.

Many thanks

Can't add a Google CalDAV calendar on Thunderbird 91

Hi all, I'm trying to add a Google CalDAV calendar to my Thunderbird. I obtained the URL (of the form https://apidata.googleusercontent.com/caldav/v2/...@group.calendar.g… (funda kabanzi)

Hi all,

I'm trying to add a Google CalDAV calendar to my Thunderbird. I obtained the URL (of the form https://apidata.googleusercontent.com/caldav/v2/...@group.calendar.google.com/events), but when I try to add a network calendar nothing happens (see screenshot – spinner goes on endlessly).

I am using Thunderbird 91.0.3 on Mac; a friend of mine has experienced the same with Thunderbird 91 on Windows. When asking another friend, who uses Thunderbird 78, to try and add the same calendar, the interface was a little different (he had to explicitly mark it as CalDAV as opposed to iCal), and then he was redirected to a web browser to login to Google for authentication – I guess that's what should happen next, but for me it doesn't.

Note: I can also get an iCal URL for my calendar from Google, and adding this to Thunderbird 91 does work, but is not good enough, as it only grants me read-only access to the calendar.

I'll appreciate any help – thanks!

Calendar Broken in Thunderbird 91 on Win10

I was on vers 78.12.0 and Thunderbird told me a new version was available. Since download and install from Thunderbird has never worked for me, I went to the Mozilla website, and did a download and install. The version that was available is 91.0.1. But now, Calendar which was working in 78 is no longer working. There are new Enable buttons on the left for the various potential sources of events for the calendar, but clicking on any of them has no effect in what is displayed in the calendar grid. If I close Thunderbird then reopen, what I previously selected to be Enabled is now disabled, and still no calendar grid.

Since it looks like upgrading to 91 was a mistake, I tried to reinstall vers 78, but I get an error message that the existing profile has been updated for the newer version, and that If I want to use the old version, I need to create a new profile and reload all my accounts, add-ins, etc. Wait, what? Why was the old profile not preserved and a new one created for the new version to allow for reverting back from a bad update?

BTW, I previously paid to support Thunderbird.

When we connect with a webbrowser to Synology Calendar we still can edit and after doing so it is also possible again for Lightning to edit a calendar item which was non-editable to change.

However the item was not in readonly or private mode. Does anyone have a clue where this goes wrong?

I need some help. I started using Thunderbird a few months ago. Lightning was installed day-1 but has not been used as I favor a very old calendaring program called WinDates. Today I exported my WinDates calendar to .ics and tried importing it into Lightning using the instructions for adding a Holiday calendar found in the KB. It was very straightforward and should have worked perfectly -- except it didn't. It caused Thunderbird to hang. Force-closing Thunderbird & relaunching failed. Force-closing then restarting the computer & relaunching failed. Force-closing then doing a cold boot & relaunching failed. Force-closing then relaunching in SAFE MODE (thank you, KB!) got Thunderbird running again. Disabling Lightning and restarting in normal mode showed Lightning to definitely be the culprit. I removed Lightning & relaunched Thunderbird in normal mode and all was happy. Then I re-installed Lightning and restarted Thunderbird at which point Thunderbird hung -- again.

So I am thinking there must be something in the .ics file that is messed up (it's only 248 kb) or something fouled in a cache file that Lightning left behind.

Any help and/or ideas will be gladly appreciated.

UPDATE 15:09

So I've got Thunderbird working, but Lightning continues to be a problem. I thought the issue was the add-on Lightning extension, but now I know it isn't; it's the built-in Lightning. When I go through the steps here (Calendar Updates Issues Thunderbird) Lightning is there as it's always been, and hangs just like it did when I first tried to import the .ics file.

I did find a temp cache folder at C:\Users\myprofile\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\nwipuw2i.default-release\cache2\entries which has 20,976 files of varying sizes, but I dare not delete anything unless I know what is safe and what is not.

My only work-around right now is to disable Lightning.

OS: Mac / 2020 Macbook Pro Thunderbird version 78.7.1 (64-bit) (most current) Provider for Google Calendar Add-on version 78.0.1 (most current)

Been having this issue for a while now - Calendar entries suddenly don't show up in the calendar tab and in the today pane.

I go into the calendar pane and click the eye shaped icon next to the google calendar I want to see, it all becomes visible again in both the calendar and today pane.

The next day it's usually gone again and I have to go in and make it visible. I don't shut down my computer or thunderbird. Calendar settings are set to "Show all calendars"

It's not a huge deal, but tedious to do every day and the whole point of having the today pane is that I'm not thinking about those things, I see them, I remember to do them. I don't always remember to refresh it and it's caused me to miss some things.

I have tried removing thunderbird and re-installing, that doesn't affect it. I have tried disconnecting/reconnecting the Google calendar, that doesn't affect it either.

Please help! Thanks

I have been using Thunderbird and the Thunderbird Calendar for years without any problems. I am using Windows 10 and Thunderbird 91.0.3 (64-bit). About 2 weeks ago all the entries on my calendar disappeared many of them birthdays which had been there for years. I have re-entered and saved some new events but when I come back to the laptop after an hour or so without closing and reopening Thunderbird, they have disappeared. Replies to other questions suggest importing but as I have never exported it and have no other calendars there is nowhere to import it from.

I would like my default calendar to be the first in the list of calendars so that when I am creating a new event (I usually use "convert to event from email" option). However as I have multiple calendars, the first in the list is I think the one I may have created first and it resets itself to as such after each restart, even though I re-order the list to my liking. Setting my preferred calendar as "default" calendar also does not help because this setting really does not seem to do anything, the default calendar is the one that is last left selected in the calendar view (and it is usually the first calendar in the list if I do not actively change it to another calendar).

I am happy to even edit the setting in configuration file - if there is such a setting for this list. If so, please advise. - Thanks!

Version: Thunderbird 91.7.0 (64-bit) [Flatpak from Flathub] OS: Xubuntu 20.04

Issue: The times indicated on the left side of the "Day" and "Week" view are wrong. They seem to be 5:30 hours behind the actual time. This calendar is synced from Google Calendar where the times are correct. Even the current time indicator is offset by the same amount in Thunderbird. In fact, even the times I set for start and end of day are offset by the same amount. See attached image for details. What is interesting is that my timezone is IST which is UTC+5:30. Now I did look this up on bugzilla and other forums, the only remedy I found was to set the timezone in Preferences>Calendar>Timezone. This was already set for me and I have tried changing it back and forth, but got no effect.

Please suggest a course of action. I am not averse to going through config files, getting logs and/or writing a bug report if this is indeed a bug.

I am running Ubuntu 20.04 with Thunderbird 68.8.0 and Lightning/ Google Provider.

I have two GMail accounts I access without issue, and have ensured both accounts are configured to use oAuth instead of the Normal password that had been working until today.

I can access emails on both accounts without issue, but, and this seems bizarre to me, one calendar works fine, and the other will not allow changes, but I can see the calendar.

Every time I try to dismiss an event, I have the authentication dialog which has no effect.

In my passwords, I have two entries for both accounts, one for the mail and one for the oAuth login.

The passwords for all 4 are different - and relevant to the accounts - or else I would not be able to log in!

I have tried following all the advice I can find, including changing a setting in the config settings, but that has had no effect.

I have removed Lightning and Google Provider, reloaded TB, and reinstalled Lightning (with a reload) and then Google Provider (with a reload) all without success.

I have also reset my Google security to allow less secure apps to access the Google data (but that should affect both calendar and mail).

Any help would be really appreciated.

Many thanks,
