Why not leave Firefox as a security/privacy conscious browser and put out a separate AI browser (FirefoxML?) for those that are not as concerned. How does Mozilla ensure that no information is leaked through AI from sessions for professionals that must protect physician/patient, attorney/client information or other legally confidential information?

I have strong ethical objections to the current generation of LLMs, and really strongly dislike contributing to Google's massive monopoly on most internet spaces, hence my using Firefox instead of Chrome. I was disheartened by the addition of an AI label to Firefox, and really would love to be able to continue using a good browser that doesn't shove AI slop down my throat. I was going to random name generator sites yesterday and I went to one that is called www.behindaname.com and it 'dropped' a web app into my firefox browser somehow. I am running version 143.0.1
Now, there is an icon in the taskbar, right in the address box between toggle reader view and bookmark this page. When you hover over it, it drops a popup message "add tab to taskbar".
In my Windows 10 menu, it shows under recently added on the start menu, as "behindaname"
If you right click on this and click on 'open file location' it opens a directory "C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Firefox Web Apps" and in this directory is behindaname and under file type .lnk
If you right click on the recently added on start menu "behindaname", and select uninstall, it opens up the Windows 10 uninstall menu, but it isn't listed in there anywhere.

I would just delete the link, but since it is putting that icon on my taskbar and it is giving that target, it is hiding somewhere. I am just not up to speed on web apps and other browser malware, at least I consider it browswer malware, to know what is going on and how to completely get rid of it. I can edit the HTML code, but I'm not sure how to correct things like the image not importing when the link is correct and how to get rid of the dotted line border that shows up in Thunderbird when it does not appear in my current email client signature. I'm using Thunderbird 140.5 on a desktop Mac running Sequoia 15.7.2
In Local Folders, my subfolders have subfolders. In both levels of subfolders, Thunderbird has spontaneously started disordering both newly created subfolders, and folders which I move from one subfolder to another using right click 'Move To'
Up until ten days ago, all folders whether new or moved, were listed alphabetically. Now, day by day, the disordering is getting worse and as someone with ongoing conversations with hundreds of clients, it is becoming impossible to work when I have to give so much time to slowly scanning through every folder looking for the relevant subfolder.
I don't know why I can't update this version, but I tried installing the newest version available (145) and used the 'reset folder option' which did not work either.
Also, setting up a whole new account instead of upgrading my existing account is a colossal faff and I'd rather not have to!
Aside from manually reordering (also a colossal faff), can anyone suggest something I might be missing in stopping this happening?

I have Thunderbird 140.5.0 installed. It keeps moving my mail folders. I had them sorted in alphabetical order but a week ago it started moving my folders. For example, I have a folder named "FunWithTubes" but it keeps moving to the bottom of the list after "Y" and if I move it back then a day or so later it will be back somewhere else near the bottom. This is not the only folder it does this too but does not do it to all of them. How do I get it to put my folders back where I had them and leave them alone? This has got to be a bug.

I'm running Thunderbird 140.5.0esr (32-bit) on Windows 10 Pro Build 19045. After the last few updates the columns in the email listings are changing widths from what I've set them, this seems to happen after I close then reopen Thunderbird; which I'm having to do more often these days to resolve weird calendar malfunctions. For instance, the data column would appear so narrow that only the month/day show with "..." at the end, when I know I've looked at this yesterday with the full view of the date and time showing. I've reviewed my options and I've set them individually, set them globally and it makes no difference. Of course I've rebooted, etc. I have over a hundred local folders and they all change differently, of course some look the same but others don't. Most have the same column headings selected but it doesn't seem to matter. Some have the "Correspondents" column selected but many don't.
This is very irritating and I'd like to know why Thunderbird is doing this, and more importantly, how can I prevent this behavior in the future. Thanks,

1) No one asked for this. 2) It is bad at doing whatever it is designed to do. (It's not helpful, it's not even neutrally unhelpful, it's ANTI-HELPFUL.) 3) It is always on by default, or worse, impossible to turn off.
At the very least AI features need to be off by default, because it's rubbish.
Firefox is meant to be a bastion of sanity and safety in a world of exploitative techbros trying to steal our data and trick us into making money for them. So-called "AI" goes against this. Please, Firefox, be better.
As of 20th Nov 2025, here's how to turn off AI features. Go into about:config and set all of these to false (yes, you’ll have to copy and paste them one by one):
