I just bought a new computer and as a part of setting it up, installed Mozilla Thunderbird for my msn.com e-mail account. I had this set-up on my old computer and it worked fine except for initially getting the following error message: "Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server. If so use the Advanced IMAP Server Settings dialog to reduce the number of cached connections." I had followed through with that suggestion on my old computer and had no further problems. Unfortunately, I forgot to do the reductions on my new computer, and now I am getting the same error message. I have checked a number of online forums and tried a number of different solutions (including reducing the number of cached connections, simply waiting for several hours including overnight, uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird several times, resetting my router, and removing my Thunderbird account), all to no avail. The last step, removing the account has now resulted in my not being able to even re-add it to the new computer, getting a repeated message: "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?" after numerous attempts. So now I am totally stuck. Ironically, I still have my old computer and am able to use Thunderbird and that same account with no problem at all. Any input or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My mail email account is a hotmail one, however I have two hotmail accounts, a Yahoo, and a Gmail all conected to Thunderbird and all having the same issue.

I can see that I have new mail. I double click to open it, a new tab opens. It sits blank. The email ether never loads or takes far to long and I get it quicker signing in to live mail though firefox. Any suggestions welcome :)

Out of the blue the print facility has just stopped working. No changes have been made. We have two networked printers and also print to PDF.

Whenever we try any of these, including "Print Preview" thunderbird crashes and needs to restart.

Recently Thunderbird has started corrupting printed copies of my emails. As an example I have added a screendump to my question. The mail would easily print on one page but both print preview (as seen in screendump) and printout would print 75 pages :O I'm using a hp photosmart 7510 series printer or a hp deskjet 3630 series printer both with same result. If I use Microsoft print to pdf to a temp file and print that file afterwards everything is fine. Please advice. Thanks in advance :)

I'm testing from some time Thunderbird email client, and acidentally my antyvirus (MS System Center Endpoint Protection - SCEP) found old email with potential virus attached (I expected this thus never opened it), As late as on 2017-04-18 SCEP found it and suggested to remove it. Unfotunatelly without success. I found this email and deleted it manually. After that checked system against viruses again - SCEP from this time reports me that trojan is in two places - inbox and thrash. Different antiviruses dont see this treat (Symantec NPE, SpuHunter and ESET Node 32 - all trials). Pls help me to clarify situation and certainty that my system i clear. Hi, I installed thunderbird on my new computer shortly after the apple security updates which switched my account to two factor authenication.

Thunderbird didn't accept my password, so I went to the apple id website and created an app specific password. But thunderbird doesn't accept that either.

Have tried several times now, both with the old password and with several generated app specific ones. Nothing seems to work... (desktop computer running on windows 10)

I'm trying to add a new gmail account to TB but the last step requires you to log into gmail using the built-in internet browser. Said browser doesn't work. Wherever I click it's non-responsive, and thus not allowing me to add my new account because I'm stuck in that final step.

Ok, last week I migrated my Verizon Email to the new AOL/Verizon email set up. All went smoothly. I was sending and receiving no problem. All of a sudden, I am not sending or receiving. I can get mail from the AOL.Mail site, but can not get from Thunderbird. I have a G.mail Acct using Thunderbird and it works fine. Any idea why the new Verizon/Aol might be stumbling over Thunderbird? When I try to get mail it just hangs, when i try to send i instantly get this message...Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.verizon.net was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again.

I have been on ATT support all day wo luck. I can receive just fine, but suddenly can no longer send out e-mail. (I can if I go to ATT page directly, but not with Thunderbird). I have had my password on ATT changed - and it acts exactly the same - I can receive but not send. My settings look OK to ATT: outbound.att.net, port 465, SSL/TLS and normal password. Every time I get: "Login to server outbound.att.net failed."

Win 7 Pro 64 Thunderbird 45.8

I have three email accounts and need to add a fourth, but haven't been able to. When I click the "create a new account > email" button a screen comes up with two buttons, and neither button works. They're 'clickable' in that they change color, but there's no way to move away from this screen and neither button brings up a new window. Once I get here I have to force quit the application to get off this screen.

I'm on mac os 10.12.4, using Thunderbird 52.1.0. I updated thunderbird, uninstalled and reinstalled, and no luck. Any thoughts?

Subject: Account Settings -> Server Settings Occurrence: after update to 52.1.0 (32 bit)

My default setting was unchecked 'Automatically download new messages' and checked 'Fetch headers only'. After automatic update to 52.1.0 I could no longer download full emails from my email server by clicking on 'Download the rest of the message' hyperlink. However option 'Get selected messages' works and is active (available) from the start. I know this bug (inactive 'Get selected messages' after opening of Thunderbird) was on the Mozilla's back burner since ancient times :).

Setting opposite to default: checked 'Automatically download new messages' and unchecked 'Fetch headers only' loads emails without the problem but is potentially unsafe.

New install. Windoz. Connect to existing IMAP email account. Several messages have incorrect date and time in the "Date" column. That column shows today's date and time very close to the time I first connected to the accounts. Message header shows coeect date. Why is Thunderbird misinterpreting the date in some cases?

The two most recent versions of Thunderbird I've used, now 52.1.0, 52.0.1 before, have problems downloading some attachments. Seen with some, but not all PDF attachments. 27 bytes only downloaded when either opened or saved. Other PDF attachments work fine. The problem attachments are completely functional if I use a different MUA to open the e-mail off of the same IMAP server.

I am using Mac OS Sierra. I have an email that I am trying to send via Thunderbird. When I click on SEND, I get a popup that asks for my Gmail name. After clicking NEXT, nothing happens.

How do I get my email sent? Why is this happening?

I am having a problem with .WAV attachments being corrupted when downloaded from Thunderbird. As far as I can tell, this is the only filetype that is being corrupted. Also, as far as I can tell, this is happening to all my emails with a .WAV attachment, both new emails and old emails.

I am using Thunderbird 52.1.0. My email account is from Google gmail.

A little background, when our Cisco phone system gets a voice message, it creates a .WAV file and emails it to us.

In Thunderbird, if I go one of these emails, and double chick on the .WAV attachment, Thunderbird offers me Open with, and with that, Windows Media Player. If I then click on OK, WMP opens, but then gives me an error msg that it can't play the file.

In Thunderbird, I instead select Save File, save it on my Desktop, and then double click on the file, WMP opens, but then gives me the same error msg that it can't play the file.

If I go to Google gmail webpage, select this same email, download the .WAV attachment to my Desktop, then double click on the file, WMP opens and successfully plays the file.

Why the difference?

The "bad" file downloaded thru Thunderbird, is 231KB and if I go into Properties ... Details, has no Bit Rate. The "good" file downloaded thru Google's gmail website, is 169KB and if I go into Properties... Details, has a Bit Rate of 64kbps.

Again, why the difference? It should be the exact same file!

And, how can this please be fixed?

When I start Thunderbird, it asks to enter master password six times. I have configured 3 mail account and 3 Google calendars. I run TB 52.1.0, build 20170503142038 on Linux (openSUSE Tumbleweed). Whether I use the "reply" menu or "Reply" buttons a new email is created but there is no email address shown for the recipient. This has only started happenning after I upgraded to version 52.1.1
