I had a crash on my SSD (WIn7 Ultimate) - " Operating system missing" error. I saved the data and want to reinstall Win 7 and import previous Bookmarks data to new install of Moziilla Firefox.

I transferred the sqlite file (s88qn337.default) from the previous install (now non working system) to the existing working Firefox directory (C:/Users/My Name/AppData/Roaming/Firefox/Profiles/xxx.default.

I then renamed "default.XXX.old" (the previous install had only one file in the Profile directory - ie s88qn337.default)

When I try to open Mozilla Firefox, with the single file (s88qn337.default) in the Profile directory, I get the error "Can't find user data".

When I then open fresh install of Mozilla Firefox on working SSD (Win 7 Ultimate) and try to Import Bookmarks, the options are only "Import Bookmarks from Explorer" or "Import from html file".

How to resolve this problem, please?

As of a few days ago whenever I start Firefox the window appears with the Bookmarks sidebar panel already opened. I click the "X" on the sidebar and it will close - until the next time I start Firefox. If I choose Menu->View->Sidebar->Bookmarks and uncheck it the panel will close - until the next time I start Firefox. No matter how the Bookmarks sidebar is closed, it will always reappear when Firefox is restarted. Even if I switch to some other sidebar, Bookmarks will replace it on startup.

I've searched about:config and found no setting which seems to control sidebar behavior on startup.

I assume this is the result of some recent update. Is there no longer a way to permanently disable the Bookmarks sidebar?

MacOS 12.7.5 Firefox 127.0 (64-bit)

I'm using Firefox 100 on Win10 and can't save any bookmarks. They do NOT appear under the App Data Profile, which would not be acceptable even if they were. This change has made it impossible for me to continue using Firefox, unless I want to go back to Win7.

I simply need Bookmarks to work the way they did before!

I export all my passwords to usb, went to other computer and ........................... needed a 2e browser (edge) to import them?? How to import passwords from usb-stick to firefox? Is this even possible? i cannot find anything to import them.!

When I use Microsoft Edge Browser in the top row it shows my Bookmarks and to the left it also shows an icon that allows you to jump back to the Edge Browser.

In Mozilla Firefox there is no icon to take you back to the Firefox browser. Occasionally a site will Hi-Jack you and trying to use the back arrow to get back to the Browser does not work. The only solution is to shut down the Firefox browser and then restart it again.

I would rather use Firefox as it support HTML 5 audio which is not supported in Microsoft Edge.

Can you please advise.

Hello, I upgraded my windows 8.1 system with firefox on it to windows 10. The windows 10 upgrade saved my windows 8.1 files. I installed firefox on windows 10. I deleted the files created by the install in the folder 'profiles'. When I copy my old firefox profile contents into that firefox profile folder, firefox does not pickup my bookmarks and extensions as I had hoped. Is it possible to get firefox to recognize my old profile contents? Thanks, Doug

I think this started after my most recent upgrade - I'm currently on 108.0.1, but I suspect it was an upgrade from 107, not just from 108.0 (I use PortableApps and only upgrade through PA, and it takes time for PA to prep new versions of app, so sometimes short-lived versions are skipped, and the 108.0.1 changelog only mentions one tiny bug fix). When trying to access a bookmark or folder on my bookmarks toolbar, nothing happens (color change or tooltip on hover, nor clicking) unless the mouse is at the very bottom edge of the button area, well below where the icon and text are. Is this happening to anyone else? I use the bookmarks toolbar heavily, so this is very annoying.

I'm a gamer and alt+tab considerably often. Most of the time I end up on FireFox because I need to look at a map or browse reddit while I'm in queue. However, whenever I alt+tab frequently a bookmark will get selected as if I am clicking and dragging. The bookmarks on the bookmark tool bar always end up in different places. Is there a way to lock these links in place so I can't move them or do I have to resign myself to fixing it every day?

Hi all; once again and seemingly too often, a Win 10 BSOD and Firefox was reset and where are my bookmarks ? Normally I had them on the LHS of the page but this is getting too much as I cannot find them anymore. Can someone give me a nudge to where I can find them ? rJ

Is there a way to delete a bookmark from the book-mark drop-down window (accessed from triple horizontal bar/right side of browser) but retain the same book-mark that had been saved in a folder created in Other Bookmarks? I discovered that when you delete a book-mark entry from drop down menu, the same entry is also deleted from its saved location in Other Book Marks. I was trying to reduce number of unsorted entries in drop down menu while saving (and retaining) the same link in the Other Bookmarks section and folder. I want to continue using the sorting and discrete folder saving possible with the Other Bookmark section but clean up the clutter in the unsorted bookmark section.

I've had this site that i have no recollection of visiting always there, pinned at the top of my search suggestions but i never bothered with it, till today when i decided to remove it.

I tried all the things i can think of and searched for a solution to no avail, any help is appreciated.

When I enter the first few digits of "amazon" the first suggestion is always "amazon.com". That would be nice were it not for the fact that, as a European, I don't have that much use for prices in dollars and imperial measurements. I have bookmarked "amazon.de" but due to alphabetical order .com always comes first. Naturally, I have tried to purge "amazon.com" from my bookmarks but I have been unable to find anything that I could delete. Thus, I am wondering whether anyone might know how this issue might be tackled and I would be much obliged if anyone could help.

I am not too good with the computer and have just starting using Firefox. I will do my best to describe my question so please bar with me. I have 2 rows of websites that I frequent...actually only using the first row and 5 spaces in the second row. When I go to a different website Firefox is automatically adding that website to one of the boxes in the second row which I do not want. How do I stop this? Question 2...using Ebay as an example...if I keep searching on Ebay and have looked at lets say 5 different pages how do I go back to the home screen without having to hit the back button 6 times? Hi everyone

I can no longer drag a bookmark to a folder and insert it where I need to in the folder, which previously was very useful.

Now when I drag a bookmark and try to insert it where I need to it defaults to inserting it as the first / top bookmark in the folder. Which means I have to drag it a second time to its desired position.

Please could anyone advise about how to get the functionality back.

Hello there; I had installed the "savefrom.net" extension. This extension automatically generated the website address to the "bookmarks toolbar". I deleted the extension and deleted the shortcut as well. But when the bookmarked website shortcut "firefox" is closed and reopened, it adds itself to the bookmarks toolbar again. No matter what I did, it didn't work. I don't want to delete Firefox completely and reinstall it. Because there are too many shortcuts and data that I use all the time. How do you think I can solve this problem?

I installed the latest version of Firefox browser and now my bookmarks and passwords are gone.How can I get them back or can I go back to before the update to the previous version to get everything back. I'm disabled and I rely on my computer to stay in touch with everything and I can't remember all my bookmarks and passwords. I tried one method from the website and it said that I had 11 bookmarks but it didn't restore them. Anybody that can help I would greatly appreciate it.

When I bookmark something, I often apply tags. I have noticed that when I use a very long tag, combined with many tags, it prevents tags being used. For example, the word "internationalization" prevents tags being stored.

A bookmark that is tagged like this: one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen internationalization will not have its tags saved.

However, this is stored successfully: one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen internationalization

This also stores successfully: 'one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen'
