I'm a newbie to TB, and I'm trying to learn its ways. In order to test my various email options (Insert image, signature, html formatting, etc), I send test emails to myself (ie, through one email address & server to another via another server).

I'd thought I'd licked the problem of getting a 'letterhead logo' inserted via Insert Image, along with the desired font, font size, and indentation, only to find that the email, once delivered back to me (via the other email address and its server), had lost all html formatting (tho', thankfully, the logo image remained). As far as I can see, this was not a case of sending the email to a recipient who doesn't receive HTML.

I've searched TB's composition parameters (at least the ones that I can find), and can't find anything relating to this, other than the options available when TB doesn't know the recipient's format preferences (ie, re. html or plain text --- which I've set to "Send both html and plain text.").

Any tips/help would be gratefully welcomed!

I can do most of the usual accents in French in T/bird but am stuck with the cedilla. Normally I can insert a symbol but I don't have this option on T/bird. Anybody know how to do this?

Thunderbird. I am trying to locate a sub-folder that contains several emails. If I use some key words in the "Search" facility in Thunderbird, I can view an email that has those keywords in it, but I have not "located" the email in the sense that I have not determined which Thunderbird sub-folder it is in. I do not want to know where the email is to be found in my operating system folders, just in my tree of subfolders within Thunderbird.

I am using TB 31.7.0 on a MacBook Pro running the latest version of Yosemite. I use BusyCal as my calendar software (although I think that is not relevant to the problem I am experiencing).

When people send me an email with an ICS meeting invitation attached, the attachment does not arrive. I get the email but there is no attachment. So I always have to send a reply and ask them to manually type the meeting details into an email, and then send it to me. It appears that this problem occurs when meeting invitations are generated with Outlook. (That's a guess on my part.)

I've read through the forums to try to find a solution to this problem, and I haven't been able to find it.

Any suggestions?

I've attempted to set up my outlook.com account in thunderbird. I've followed the directions *precisely* as they are delineated at both outlook.com and here and still thunderbird insists there's a problem with either my username or password. Since I can log in at outlook.com with said info, I am at a loss.

Since I downloaded the latest version of Thunderbird for windows, I get a request to allow 245885873.log.optimizely.com to set a cookie. Assume that Mozilla is doing something with the information collected. What is this data used for?

Sometimes when I receive an attachment 'paperclip icon' there is no option to 'open or save' it and I cannot see contents. It is not every time but enough times that it is very frustrating, and cannot find any solution online.

I just began using Thunderbird for my email as I'm so sick of "Comcast/Xfinity" dumping advertising and other junk on my computer when I just want to get to my Comcast email. I have customized Thunderbird email (options, etc.) to display the way I want. However, I am using a shared computer that I've set up to require login to several user or the Admin accounts and now T-Bird puts up a notification on my user account (on the Windows Login screen) of new email having arrived and how many new emails I have. I do not necessarily want other users to know if I have new email and how many new messages I have. Is there a way to turn this "feature" off? I don't see any option in any of the T-Bird tools.

can't send email no matter how I change settings - I have done every imaginable configuration, filling in fields differently - I have done all that Mozilla suggests - firewall/virus on and off - new passwords - contacted isp which made things worse as they "don't support thunderbird" - I have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried to revert to old Thunderbird (but was too dumb to figure that one out), switched ports, gone through mozilla support and knowledge base - half the problem is I don't understand what it's asking me to do. It has taken me days just to figure out how to 'sign up' for help - I could only see the sign in area and just finally now, after days, managed to set up my mozilla account. After a week of this and about 30 hours in, I have been willing to pay tech support, only to find out that Thunderbird has no third party tech or phone support - my ISP however, who will not assist, said they can help if I subscribe to a third party service for a monthly fee. For obvious reasons, I'd rather not. I have added my screen shot of the current settings - but believe me, I've switched them all around many times. Thank you in advance for any advice, and apologies in advance for my ignorance in figuring out something that is quite likely simple.

long version: I use thunderbird because it's closest to Outlook which I was used to, but didn't come on Windows7. A week ago my boss required we have a Gmail account. I already have two that I set up just to take the names, both of which I added into my thunderbird no problem so I could see them without going online. This new one I set up is for work only - I added it to Thunderbird like I did the others ( I think) and all of a sudden my sympatico account was gone - I didn't even realize except that when I checked email on my ipad, there was no mail and I finally figured out everything I sent off my desktop was going through this new gmail account and my normal sympatico email was gone. I deleted the gmail from my Thunderbird and tried to put sympatico profile back on - days doing this - it was at the bottom - couldn't get it to the default, etc... Finally got it back and then couldn't send or receive - called my ISP - got new passwords - could receive but not send - isp Tech said it was their end. 24 hours later it worked - but only for the night - spent two more days with three techs and they all said it was how Thunderbird was set up and not their problem. I have gone through all the knowledge bases I can wrap my head around, called isp again today to ask if they're blocking my port (which the Mozilla help said to do)- of course they said no and laughed at me. I fear they have done something so I can't send email. They kept telling my I shouldn't be using Thunderbird.

I would be so grateful if someone could help me and understand my limited knowledge. Although, the information I've gleaned over the past week is immense!

I've created a stucture of folders and subfolders on the server side of my IMAP email account. I'm able to subscribe to these folders in Thunderbird. However, I do only see one level of folders in my interface.

Example: Inbox\Games is shown, with the mails that are in there Inbox\Games\Steam is not shown, even though I subscribed to it.

When I get an attached .doc or .docx file I want it to open TextMaker 2016. right now it opens TextMaker 2012. How to fix that? Same thing for spread sheets. Right now it goes to PlanMaker 2012, it needs to go to PlanMaker 2016. I can't find out where these default applications are set up. And I don't understand why it should be so hard to find the setup! Please point me to the answers to these questions! System is PCLinuxOS 64-bit KDE. Present Thunderbird is 38.4.0. Thanx--doug

Is there such an identifier on Firefox vs Firefox ESR?
