Hi, I use thunderbird 140.6.0 esr for Linux (Debian 12 with KDE 5). After opening Thunderbird, I am asked for the password to retrieve mail. If I make a mistake when typing it in, I have no chance to correct the password and have to restart TB. There is a correction window for the SENT password.

Hallo, Ich habe eine Emailadresse mit @gmx.at. Leider kann ich mich nach mehrmaligen Versuchen bei Thunderbird nicht anmelden da es mir immer wieder eine Fehlermeldung anzeigt, dass meine Daten nicht korrekt seien ( sie sind korrekt und konnte mich auch schon auf einer anderen Plattform anmelden). I´m well trained employee in user support and server administration for more than 30 years now. So long for my skills... I´m the administrator of a Microsoft 365 tenant. A user asked some days age, as he can´t login into his M365E3 account using Thunderbird. I tried this scenario in my private Thunderbird profile and indeed I get an weird dialog box. I can insert my password above the first line, input above the second line is readable in clear text, the checkboxes are selectable, but no button for continue. I have examined https://support.mozilla.org/de/kb/microsoft-oauth-authentifizierung-th..., but have no success. Whats going wrong here and how can I help for debugging? Environment: TB 147.0, disabled extensions, Windows 11 pro german 01-2026 patch M365 account with MFA, (Microsoft authenticator app as primary option)

Can't change incorrect Gmail password

I have just installed Thunderbird v146.0, set up the first mail account (POP3) OK, then tried to set up a GMail IMAP account. I inadvertently gave it the wrong password, … (funda kabanzi)

I have just installed Thunderbird v146.0, set up the first mail account (POP3) OK, then tried to set up a GMail IMAP account. I inadvertently gave it the wrong password, so the Account hub throws out the connection with an Authentication error "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password".

The problem is I can see no way of amending the password; if I try and set up the account again, it just skips the "enter password" step, presumably because TB thinks it already knows the password for this email account. I have tried the following:

- The "edit configuration" feature in the account hub doesn't have a change password option - The Saved Passwords section in Settings > Privacy & Security doesn't show the Gmail creds, presumably because it failed to set up this account in the first place - I reinstalled TB, having previously deleted the Profiles folder in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Thunderbird; everything I've read on this suggests this is the one and only place where TB keeps its data. However, when re-entering TB, the POP3 account I set up is still there, so there must be somewhere else that TB is storing its data, I guess the Registry?

Am I missing something? I can't be the only person who has had this problem!

For many years I have been using my Windows 10 with Thunderbird and a cell phone. Something happened when I updated Thunderbird on my laptop three few weeks ago. No emails go to my S23. Can someone please help me? I downloaded current Thunderbird version to my laptop. Problem might be being asked by Micros for my account email and password going back many years and I have not clue what it is. There is a chance Microsoft as blocked me from changing though I have no clue how to restart with them. April will be 3 years since I purchased my S23 and everything was good prior to me changing my Thunderbird password. Please help me.

If I try too many times I am blocked. I was able to see what I would have to to get a QR code but not anymore. When I tried to get code last a few days ago There were black vertical lines moving from left to right so I could not take picture using my S23. I did some search and it I have to change some setting on my S23. I have new version of Thunderbird on my S23. No password since I have not been able to take QR image. This is not working for a week now. No emails to my S23 account. Please help me.

After I set up my IMAP and SMTP settings for my iCloud email account in Thunderbird I click my inbox and a prompt to donate comes up. I ignore that and focus on the second prompt to input my password. I had already went into my Apple iCloud account and created a third party account password. I thne input the password. It continually rejects that password. I am thinking that the prompt for a donation may be interfering. Also, prior to the password issues the app was running very slow. I went online and blocked Thunderbird from my contacts and that seemed to work. Could the issue be one of the inputs for my incoming and outgoing settings. I ran the test in IMAP and things looked good for the test. But always, the password fails. Please help.

Okay, I am trying to set up Thunderbird for my wife's service club's email (gmail account). It just will NOT recognize the password during the account setup. Everything goes along fine until the available configurations come up and I hit "Done" (same for either configuration + trying to use the "manual" function).

Pop up window opens that says "enter credentials" in the header, but page is blank. Alternately, if I exit setup but stay in program and then use the "new account" option, no pop up, but same as with popup, I get "Checking password" for an extended time and then error message about user name or password. I have verified we have the correct password by logging into gmail directly using it.

I am totally stumped here. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 running Win11 and Tbird version is140.4.0esr (64 bit)
