I made a mistake. I had 128 and went up to 140. It pretty much looks the same, but a big difference is an extension I always use says it will not work with 140. I don't care how good 140 might be; if I can't use my app, QUICKTEXT, then I don't need this. How do I go back to 128 or to a version that works with my extension?

I have been using Thunderbird since its first incarnation. I currently monitor (some for non-profits, some my own) five email accounts in Thunderbird. They are all IMAP accounts. However, my own main account also has an extensive system of local folders that adds up to about 12GB of data, and probably over 100 folders (don't ask; it was necessary until I retired last year, but I need to keep all of those saved emails, as I still access them frequently).

I've searched the forums and have found good information on moving Tbird to a new computer, but that's not what I'm looking for. Chances are what I need is here, and I've missed it, so please forgive if I'm rehashing old questions.

Currently, my Thunderbird profile and folders are stored on my C: drive, as is the default. I have been manually backing them up several times a week (for years) to OneDrive, because I can't afford to lose everything if my laptop decides to bite the dust. Using that method, I've successfully moved the setup to a new computer several times. I'm not sure why simply redirecting the setup to a different location on the same system has been a bugbear for me. ::smile::

It would be much less labor-intensive if I can simply point Thunderbird to the OneDrive files so they are always up-to-date and "there," should I need to make a computer change again.

Note, that I am not looking to access the Tbird installation with multiple computers.

I have tried (and failed) to do this in the past. Either my emails are not there, my address books are missing, or a variety of other issues that indicate an incomplete move.

I'm ready to give it another shot, and I appreciate your time and help.

Since the Sequoia install on my Mac I have had many issues. Most of them involve getting logged in to sites I use frequently. Yesterday and today I was unable to load the most recent firefox update and then the most recent thunderbird update. The wheel keeps spinning but nothing actually happens.

I was following instructions for the problem of some task bar icons showing as grey boxes. Still have that problem plus added the problem that thunderbird launches with the setup accounts dialogue page. The 'help>troubleshooting information>profile file location' reveals the correct profiles that have been updated to the hour before I caused the problem. I have saved the '...roaming/thunderbird folder to an external SSD, and made a new new thunderbird installation following the instructions for moving files to a new computer. Problem persists. Thunderbird will not 'see' the profiles therefore I cannot see my emails.

Trying to set up existing email address. When I type in info, it says "Configuration found ..." When I hit done, I get "unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password."

I have a Mac and have been using Apple Mail. I'm not sure what to do next. I was able to open my Apple account, but that password does not appear to work.

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks

The first problem cropped up immediately: Thunderbird has done a pretty good job for years of recognizing my email preferences for Inbox, Trash and Junk; now it no longer delivers email to my Inbox or Trash at startup. Almost all of my email goes to the Junk folder, including that from whitelisted senders. All of my individual spam filters and my whitelist are set to act when email is received, but I have to run the whitelist manually to get it to work (sometimes more than once). The only way I can get things into the Trash folder is to put them there manually, as TB apparently has forgotten everything it learned about my email preferences. I did take the opportunity to update my Whitelist (though to no avail), so I guess I'm sort of glad that I was goaded into doing so. But it hasn't helped.

As of tonight, I can't write or reply to an email or edit an email draft because TB locks up while it is "Copying messages to Drafts..." I've had to close TB ten or twelve times, and I've not been given the opportunity to make a bug comment during the closing routine.

I have emptied the TB cache in hopes that doing so would clear up these issues. Though that works well in Firefox, it didn't help with these problems.

I also am not too happy about the disappearance of the File Edit ... folder bar and its being replaced with a hamburger drop-down menu at the upper right, but at least it will suffice once I've unlearned almost thirty years of doing things a certain way.

I really don't want to stop using Thunderbird. I like the program, and I'd hate to have wasted the two solid weeks it took to get Yahoo! Mail to acknowledge its existence and let me connect to their service, which I did under duress. Not that I'm a masochist or anything.

Hello,

My Thunderbird is on 140.0ESR - just updated yesterday. This morning I am noticing that when I open an email to read, and then close it, my inbox automatically scrolls from the top of the box to the place where that just read email is located. It used to just close and I could open the next one - now it goes through this momentary, fast scroll and then stops at the most recently read. It doesn't seem to matter if there are unread messages in the mailbox - it does the same thing when all messages have been read.

Very strange behavior - and just started with 140.0ESR.

Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!
