I bought a new computer. I want to transfer all (a lot) of my Contacts in Thunderbird email. Tried several times. Can't do it. Watched the video. It crashes every time. Please help. Thanks, Wayne [edited email from public forum] @centurytel.net

I have been trying to add a new contact to Personal Address book. This process refuses to complete through the "New Contact" panel. However, I have Thunderbird set to add addresses from all sent emails to the address book, and if I send that same person an email, the email address does get added to contacts list.

I very rarely use the "Add Contact" process, so I don't know how long this fault has been present.

Any help please?

Hello - My Thunderbird address book has disappeared. I used to access it in the Tools menu, but Address Book is no longer an option in the menu. There are still several abook files in the profile folder, but no way to access them. I think this happened after a recent Thunderbird update, but I am not sure which one. I am currently on version 140.1.0esr (64-bit), on Windows 11 Home version 24H2. Thanks. Glen

I would like to share all my contacts in my Address book. When I click on Export, Thunderbird exports my profile and address book into one file. This file is unreadable by others. All I want to do is share all my contacts.

I recently had to upgrade my computer to a Dell Optiplex 5070 to be ready for Windows 11 next month...

When I got it back home and reinitiated Thunderbird all seemed well... All my email repopulated, along with all my Archived email from the past 6 years... The only issue is my Address Book is still completely empty now and hasn't repopulated... Please tell me there's an easy solve...

We just got a new PC, moving from Windows 10 to Windows 11. We backed up old PC to external hard drive and transferred everything to new PC. Emails were not coming in, but I found directions on our server's website and set it up. Emails are coming in now, but I'm having trouble importing our contacts.

What I've done so far:

• Searched for sqlite files in Explorer.
• Used Import Tool to import address book
• Chose file format SQLITE database file (.sqlite)
• Typed in path from Local disk C:\
• Start Import, which seems to be successful.
• Ends with Complete - Finish - Restart Import Tool

How do I restart the import tool? I tried exiting and then reopening Thunderbird. My husband has been the main user of the PC and did not set up a Password with Thunderbird. Do we need to do that first? Then are there special instructions to restart the import tool, or just sign out and sign in again?

Help: Unable to copy my email lists when using export function to migrate profile to new computer.

It is March 17, 2025. I am using Thunderbird 128.8.0ESR (64bit) on Windows 11 Home (version 24H2) on BOTH COMPUTERS! When I use the Thunderbird Tools Export function from my old Window 11 computer to my new Windows 11 computer it copies all my email and folders correctly. I can send and receive email fine on the new computer. However, it fails to copy over my Thunderbird address book and my email lists (the address book and lists are blank). I tried multiple times. My profile is 76GB large. So I tried navigating to C:/Users/Profiles/app data/thunderbird/roaming/profiles/profile name to perform the move manually. Still no luck.

About 2 years ago. Thunderbird versions had the ability to export address books separately. That option is no longer available. So if you know of a way to export my lists of addresses (each lists is a thousand email addresses) That would also solve the problem. -Eileen

I recently installed Thunderbird on my Android pad where all my email contacts came in fine. However, I just went to my Windows 10 laptop where I've previously used Thunderbird and my contacts are missing. How do I get them back to my laptop?

When I click on address book and new contact, a dark area covers half the screen and I can only see half the new contact page, and cannot move the page up (after entering First Name) or up (to enter email address),

Good Morning, I donate to Thunderbird on a regular basis. I have had bought for me a new Lenovo Laptop. I have managed to install Thundebird OK but my address book has not moved over to my Laptop. Why has this not happened & could be so kind as to instruct me on how to resolve it. Iam 86 & registered as disabled & my Computer skills are a little limited. Trying to set up a mailing list for emails. Not sure how to set up a group that I can use to list names and emails. Went to help. Instructions said to > open address book > select file > new > mailing list. I went to address book ok but cannot find 'File' there.

Am after assistance in getting mailing list set up.

There is an attachment with searchresults. This searchresult belong to an accountname with an emailadres of my own. But in the searchlist there is another To: address. Here it is Gospel Music Hoogeveen | Tineke

I want to send an email to most (but not all) the members of a mailing list - as I used to be able to. In the historic (2015) Help article "How to create and use mailing lists on Thunderbird" the first of 2 methods of "Create email using a mailing list" was "Via the Address Book"; "each contact in the mailing list will appear in a separate To field. This allows you to remove a name, if desired. " To do this, the 3 steps were:- 1 Click Address Book to open it. 2 Select the mailing list. 3 Click the Write button. Using 128.7.1esr (64-bit), step 3 is not available; the 4 options after selecting the mailing list are

• Edit list
• Export
• Print
• Delete

Is there a way of actually doing what used to be possible before the improvements took place (and IIIBDFI was forgotten?)
