hi today thunderbird started showing yahoo popup login and after adding credentials i always get "something went wrong.We could not sign you in. Try again from a different device." Also popup once closed it opens instantly.

i can sign in normally from browser. thunderbird version is 147

is there any fix about this?

While trying to retrieve new messages for one of my email accounts, I keep getting the message "Login to server xxx.xxx.xxx with username xxx@xxx.xxx failed."

I click the "Enter New Password" button and enter the same password that I use to successfully login to the account on a browser, and it STILL fails and keeps showing the same message box.

This started happening this morning. Have others reported this problem? What do I need to check to see if there is a problem in either Thunderbird or in my email account settings?

Hey Forum, 2 problems.

1. 1. - I have been having some problems w/my paypal account. Someone has been trying to hack into it. Twice in two weeks. I talked to a paypal tech and was told that they are accessing my emails. And she advised changing my email password. I have use Tbird for several years and don't remember having a password. But if I do, where is it, and how do I change it?
2. 2 - For awhile now I have been getting an error message when trying to send an email. (I can recieve, but not send). it says: "Enter your password for ***********@suddenlink.net on smtpsuddenlink.net" Where would I find such a password and where is smtpsuddenlink.net? Also could the above problem be related to this one? They started about the same time.

Was kann Ich noch tun um mich anzumelden.

my password. I did it and now I have to update my various programs and apps to the new password to access my emails, but the Thunderbird mail program that runs on my smartphone (Redmi Note 13) doesn't allow me to change my password. It almost seems like I have to delete the account and add it again from scratch. Is it absolutely necessary or is there an alternative system?

Hello. I have a yahoo email address, but I receive all my emails on Thunderbird. When I set the Thunderbird account up all my settings were put in automatically by Thunderbird and everything worked fine. Since then, I have logged into my Yahoo account online and changed the password.....for security reasons. My Thunderbird account no longer works as it cannot retrieve my emails from Yahoo, and I cannot find how to change things in my Thunderbird account. Any ideas?

Bonjour à tous et toutes, Je ne dois pas être le seul à demander ou redemander, cette question auquelle je ne trouve pas une seule solution éventuellement proposée, qui règle le souci Explication J'ai donc thunderbird avec 5 comptes de mails d'opérateurs différents dont, l'emmerdeur FREE En effet, en plus du logiciel, j'ai un vpn sur mon pc et mon mobile pour le travail et autres Si par malheur j'interroge mon mail free avec mon vpn actif soit sur pc ou sur le mobile, tout se passe correctement mais trés rapidement dans la nuit cet emmerdeur de free bloque mon mail, annule le mot de passe car il a détecté le MAL !!! et bloque toutAlors les ennuis commencent avec thunderbird Je m'arrache les cheveux, car à peine déclencher evidemment il interroge free et là !! bim !!! refusé ! et c'est le caca !! la fenêtre de connexion pour free, n'arrête pas de revenir bloquant tout, tout !! tant qu'il n'aura pas un bon m d passe ! et je ne veux pas supprimer le compte mail pour débloquer, car cela fou la merde avec tous mes dossiers de mails free enregistrés dans thunderbird , et c'est pénible de tout remettre et relancer et reconfigurer comme on le souhaite Je voudrais savoir pour les ingénieurs et leurs grandes antennes de thunderbird, ne font rien pour ce souci a priori réccurent et connu On m'a dit de décocher des cases pour essayer de "sauter" free mais aucune solution ne fonctionne C'est une vraie plaie à l'appréciation de ce logiciel. My Hotmail account suddenly stopped working today (was working yesterday). Thunderbird shows a popup saying authentication failed, but doesn't ask me to try a different password (not that I changed it recently).

The error details are only visible in Error Console:

Got an error name=oAuth2Error, the server said: Authentication failure: unknown user name or bad password.

Using server: outlook.office365.com, port 995 (POP) user name: ****@hotmail.com SSL/TLS, OAuth2

I transferred Win 7 Thunderbird Profile (TB)to a Windows machine. It left behind all the other settings, such as when picking up/sending email, passwords are required at the IP to login, get email/send email.

QUESTION: Is there another TB area where the passwords are stored so I can copy those over to the new computer.

I posted this about a week ago, and when I come back, it's gone. That's why I am repeating myself.

A long timer ago, I was told by a user that Thunderbird does not need passwords. It does if you what to get your email. They are setting for each email user. There are 34 under the one TB.

I hope there is a transferable file because changing all the passwords and preference for each account would be the hard way.

I get the error message "Login to server pop.cybermesa.com with username mmwh failed." It won't accept my password and continues to go in a circle asking for password but won't accept or allow to reset.

I can't log in after changing my email password. My email address is [edited]@telia.com. I can log in with my new password using Telia Webmail. I have been in contact with Telia and they refer you. Best regards Anita Bodin

Hello, I am using thunderbird for two different aol accounts. Both receive mail on thunderbird. However, one of them does not allow me to send messages when I am in that mailbox. I checked the saved passwords, and both have the regular password for incoming mail, but a complex password for outgoing. oauth:login.aol.com(mail-w) Please advise. I did not want to do anything that might erase my saved emails for the one account. Thanks!

I migrated my Thunderbird installation to a new computer. The installation has 25 email accounts and is now requiring passwords be entered for each account including a couple of gmail accounts.

It was my understanding passwords would be migrated when using the export/import tool within Thunderbird. Is this not so?

Do I now need to change passwords for all email accounts? (because, of course these may have been written down years ago but cannot be located at this time. :-( ) Or, is there some way of restoring the email account passwords?

• • • side note: The migration was not seamless but mostly due to my own ignorance. When using the export/import tool from one Linux machine to another I found the following:

- Thunderbird versions must be the same on both computers - After export, file on USB drive was only accessible by root on new computer - export zip file needed to be copied to user account on new computer (from within root account) and ownership changed to [user]: -R (I imagine you could just change ownership on the USB but this seemed easier)

Sending of password for user lehmannc@hispeed.ch did not succeed. Mail server pop.hispeed.ch responded: [AUTH] Authentication failed.

After many years for whatever reason I decided to change my log in password using Thunderbird with Ionos.com and my S23 Samsung and my Windows 10. This was Saturday December 25, 2025. On same day my S23 and my email account using Ionos.com stopped receiving email sent to my Thunderbird email account. I called Samsung they were of no help except to change my password and tell me to log in again in an hour. This was done while my account was maybe still being looked at by Samsung helper. Today is Sunday what worries me a bit is everything in my email account could still be seen by technician who helped me or anyone else. I went for help this morning at Best Buy. Not much help. I tried to log into my Thunderbird and do not see my password and not sure if I should in using my Firefox log in. I am not receiving any emails to my email account on my windows 10 or S23. Please help be with what to do. And something else. How will I get reply if it is an email and I cannot see it??????????? Thanks

This morning, I repeatedly received an "Authentication failed when connecting to outlook.office365.com" error. I removed the Outlook account from Thunderbird hoping to solve this by reconnecting and starting from scratch. Upon entering my email and password, my configuration is successfully located in the Mozilla database, but upon selecting the IMAP configuration and after a brief password check, I received the error message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password". Is this an issue on Outlook's end, or is something not set up properly?

Accessing my yahoo email with Thunderbird have worked fine for several months. Now I cannot log in. Yahoo mail is not accessible from the web either. But the web login works fine from Windows. I tried to change authentication method from OAuth2 to password but that didn't help. When I start Thunderbird there is either a dialogue which requires password or a window (see added picture) with a long string at the top of the window. That string cannot be edited. The rest of the window is empty.
