I'm so unhappy now I don't know where to begin.

I was having trouble loading a website (lowes.com), continually getting an "access denied" error message. It occurred to me that I'd read somewhere that if you told Firefox to "forget this site," it might solve the "access denied" problem. I didn't remember how to do this, though, so I searched online and found a site that said that adding the "Remove" button to the Toolbar and clicking it would solve the problem. I dutifully added the "Remove" button, then, before clicking it, I triple-checked that the "Forget the last Five minutes" was selected and not any longer period of time. After all, I didn't want to lose everything!

Well, I did.

I had literally hundreds of tabs that I was working on open — they're all gone. All of my history — years worth — is missing. More things may have been deleted, but, to be honest, I'm afraid to check.

What did I do wrong? Or is the "Remove" button buggy?

And while I believe that everything that's missing now is irretrievably lost, if anyone has a hack to recover anything, I would be so, so grateful if you'd let me know.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I wrote this post up once, hit "Submit," then, after an interminable period of time, the screen went to a blank page. My original post has never appeared. Is there perhaps something wrong with my Firefox (which has been perfectly fine up until now)?

I downloaded the new version, 89.0.2, not realizing how really horrible it is. Since, trying to return to the old version (88.0.1), I've managed to delete my entire firefox directory, and have to reinstall FF from scratch. I've lost all history and bookmarks for the past 10 years. I can get by that. But, how do I set a photo from my pictures library to my FF homepage? Thanks for any relevant responses.

I used to run Firefox 88.0.1 (64 bit) on a Windows 7 PC. With lots of help from this forum I wrote a userchrome.css file to make several changes to the appearance.

On a new Windows 10 machine I installed the same version of Firefox (since I don't care for the latest one). I added my old profle to the new installation and selected it as the default.

Unfortunately, when I opened the program I was prompted to create a new profile; there didn't seem to be any way around this. So I let it happen and tried simply copying my old chrome folder into it - I thought at least I could make the visual changes even if I couldn't import my bookmarks and so on.

But this didn't work either: when I run the program, none of the expected changes are there.

Presumably I've done something wrong, but what, exactly? I'd be grateful for any thoughts. Ideally, I'd like to use the whole of the old Win7 profile but if that's not possible at least changing the appearance would be pleasant.

Many thanks.

Webpages saved as PDFs using FF are very large files compared to the same webpage saved as a PDF using Safari. FF will create a 2-3 page pdf that is over 3 MB of data, while Safari saves the same pdf as 325KB. I never noticed this to be the case in the distant past but as my available storage space started shrinking rapidly on my MacBook I realized this might be the culprit.

I don't know when these large pdfs files started with FF but as I reviewed some similar files from several years ago, the same type of 2-3 page pdf in FF was in the KB, not MB of data. Can anyone help me understand why this is happening? Is there a setting that should be changed so these pdfs are not so bloated in size?

I am still using FF 88.0.1 having not made the leap to the newer versions of FF because of all the bad reviews. That said, I have not seen any info which indicates that FF scaled down pdf file sizes in the newer versions of FF.

In FF's Preferences pane PDFs are set to open in FF. Would it help reduce the file sizes if I changed that so they open in Mac's default application which I assume is Preview? I don't know if that's what the default preference was years ago when FF pdfs were much smaller files, or if changing that would make no difference at all.

Also, for what it's worth, I previously disabled FF's new-ish Print Preview Interface in about:config because it was consistently overriding the preset positions I set for my headers and footers, resulting in them being cut off the printed pages, however, the bloated pdfs were a problem long before FF introduced the Print Preview Interface feature.

Any suggestions on how to reduce the size of pdfs that FF is creating? I don't have and don't want to get a 3rd party application like Adobe Acrobat to deal with this, when I can simply use Safari as my browser. Thank you.

Greetings. How do I set a photo from my pictures library to my FF homepage? I asked this several months ago, figured it out, then lost it again, and can't regain. I'm using v88.0.1, because the update to 90 doesn't work for me, so I assume anything later won't either, if it's built on top of it. Thanks for any relevant responses or suggestions.

When I open Firefox with a dozen tabs showing, Task Manager typically shows Firefox to be using 1.3% CPU, 715 MB Memory and 0.1 MB/s Disk. However, as soon as I open www.walmart.com in a new tab, Firefox CPU goes up to between 34% to 52%, Memory to 13,900 MB and Disk to 50 to 200 MB/s. If I reboot, it is repeatable. I have an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with 16 GB. What's going on?

Hi, lately I have been trying to tackle my secondary HDD being spun up for no reason in the background and one thing that keeps popping up is Firefox.exe accessing a bunch of fonts contained in the Solidworks installation on the HDD (which is a secondary drive, while Firefox is installed on the primary SSD).

I really cannot understand why it happens, since I think nobody is supposed to install Solidworks along with Firefox. Of course I don't want this activity to wake up my drive, but also, is it normal? I have to admit I'm kinda worried.

I'll attach screenshots from Sysinternals Process Monitor

Thanks in advance to anyone that will help :)

Two Oct 2017 microprocessor chipset vulnerabilities have been used on phones manufactured through July 2019, that allow Foreign Bad Actor APT groups to develop cofe, based on reverse engineered Open Source code, to download multiple apps, including browsets, GBoard and other alternative keyboards, and communications apps (Gmail, text and messaging, phone ) applications.

These copy apps run in the OS at startup (using a thumbnail hackede Opera version - but not the expected Opera Mini version for Android), and are oberved as duplicates when clearing app cache, as repeating application responses to a command. They also appear as phantom duplicate app notifications, in Rent Apps List toggles, and hidden apps in hacked desktop Launchers)

The malware payload launcher may also be appended to poorly written apps, from third party app stores, but also from malware originating from Chinese made inexpensive phones with continued 2017 chipset vulnerabilities, eg older chipsets not soft patched or replaced eith hardcoded newer code.

Therefore, we suspect tens of millions of compromised phones are in use. These phones leak small communication pack streams of scavenged user information while the phone is on, regardless of hacked Launcher UI status indicator (off) and through hacked BlueTooth and Nearby Share applications using javascript and Lineux remote toggles, that can activate and use camera and microphones to record user calls and environment.

Perhaps authenticator checks buried in code, could alert users of duplicated browsers, as all other FF privacy protections are nulled by these hijacks.

My primary machine has (FF 88.0.1 64-bit) has all the FF tweaks for privacy and annoyances I care to have. Last outstanding issue is floating videos -- but that's posted as another topic by me. Big questions:

1. Can I bring FF on the three other laptops and server to the same FF revision level at this machine and copy across all files that would capture settings this machine's settings/changes in Config and Policies ?

I currently make quick work of syncing UBlock and AdBlocker on all machines by simple export/imports of text files. Everything tweaked exactly the same on every machine with respect to FF is what I am after...

Hello - I've been looking around the Firefox site, and the Internet in general, and so far haven't found out the answer to my question: how do I get Firefox 104 to work on my Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon Sonya 32 bit? Specifically what I haven't been able to determine is whether or not I first need to upgrade my Linux, which I suspect. And if so, what's the minimum level of the OS that is required? I may be overlooking the simple answers, but so far I cannot find them. And so far the Firefox website upgrade feature does nothing that I can detect. Thank you for any assistance - Doug.

Hi All,

I'm trying to modify various userChrome.css attributes of Tabs in Firefox 109.

However, code that worked in FF 88 is seemingly no longer working.

Is the below code outdated?

I would also like to change the appearance of #TabsToolbar from translucent to either a solid color or a background image. Is that possible? Right now, you can see icons from the desktop through the Tab bar, and there appears to be a strange curved, black overlay colorizing it. See attached screenshot.

Thanks for any input!

Hello FF community. I come here for a question, maybe a confirmation (I'm gonna try to be as short as possible ).

I'm using for years infamous Aris-t2 customCSS. I'm about to "jump" from FF v88 on my desktop to V115.0.3esr. I tested everything on my laptop, and set everything on the customCSS so it looks like my actual V88. It's almost identical, but one thing is bugging me: the scrollbar.

Scrollbar on FF115 isn't the same anymore than in V88 as you can see on the screenshot I posted (test scrbr for V115, scrbr2 for V88). The clean one with "3lines grab button" I actually use is less "eye catchy" than the new one. I've made some researches, and apparently, starting FF V97 about 2 years ago, scrollbar has been change to use W10 "flat like" one, and at FF106+, every older code was apparently removed. I tried to changed a few things in about:config, like "widget.non-native-theme.enabled" or multiple commands about scrollbar, nothing changed.

So I just wanted to know if someone could confirm me that the old scroll bar I use is now impossible to get back, or if there's a command I miss that could do the thing.

Thanks, have a nice day ^^

When I try to print from Firefox 88 on my Mac Laptop running OSX 10.12.6 the new print preview window takes a very long time to load the preview before I can print. I could not find a work around.

I tried switching to the Classic print system via (print.tab_modal.enabled - False) Now I don't have the preview to deal with so I can print immediately like I used to. However, if I try to open a PDF in Preview from the Print Dialog window, it takes a very long time to load the preview which it did not do in earlier versions of Firefox.

I am surmising that one of the Firefox updates added the print preview function which doesn't work quite right on my Mac.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Andy

I use an iMac with 3 displays as follows:

[1080p] - [1080p MAIN] - [2048x11152 Retina]

I use all 3 displays for browser windows but primarily the centre one.

When I drag a Firefox tab from the 1080p screens to the Retina screen, the UI is way too small to work with. All other applications seem to scale the UI properly though.

I'm attaching screenshots of: 1. the same website in Chrome vs Firefox on the 1080p display (both have suitable UI sizes) 2. the same website in Chrome vs Firefox on the Retina display (Firefox's UI is too small)

Is there any way to resolve this short of increasing the Firefox UI scale globally (which would take too much space on the 1080p screens)?

I'm using: MacOS 11.2.3 Firefox 88.0

thanks! Dean
