When I try to use the find bar, it shows up black and won't search for text. It doesn't even say "phrase not found." I tried searching for words I knew were in the webpage and that I could see and it still wouldn't work. The quick search bar does the same. I tried restarting with add-ons disabled and nothing happened. I'm kind of at a loss at what to do.

Here's an image of the find bar if that helps any.

I got a new Dell laptop for Christmas and started using it a couple of weeks ago. Loading Firefox was one of the first actions I took. I have a McAfee subscription so I signed into my McAfee account so I could add it, and got a message asking if I would like to install McAfee Web Boost, an extension that automatically pauses videos unless I tell it to play them. I have a data cap, and this extension would help a lot with my data usage. I told it to install, and and it worked like a charm. My wife asked if I could install it on her computer, too. Here's where it gets weird. It's not in Firefox's list of extensions! Since McAfee loaded it on my computer, I contacted their tech support, asking it how I could load it onto my wife's Firefox browser. I was told the extension was for Chrome and they didn't make one for Firefox. I spent several minutes trying to tell the tech their Web Boost loaded into Firefox, the icon is there among my extensions, and the damn thing works. All the tech could do was load the extension into Chrome, which my wife hadn't uninstalled from her machine. The extension obviously works with Firefox, so how can I get it onto my wife's computer? The version is 1.0.0.25006.

I have Notifications blocking set to all websites. However, I was surprised to come to the website below and have a Notifications permission request pop up. What's the deal?

https://www.tckpublishing.com

Also, related - in Preferences, under Content Blocking, it says:

"Heads up!

Blocking cookies and trackers can cause some websites to break. It’s easy to disable blocking for sites you trust. Learn how"

But when I click on the Learn how link, it doesn't tell me how.

When I click on the Manage Exceptions button right next to the Content Blocking heading, I get a pop up that says, "Exceptions - Content Blocking" and "you have disabled content blocking on these websites." Yet there's no way to add any URL provided there.

When I go to a website that I want to not block tracking on, I click on the lock or shield symbol, and click on Permissions and am taken to the pop up and again cannot add this website address.

How am I supposed to set any Permissions if this functionality doesn't actually work?

I purchased a new laptop running windows10, and had the tech install Firefox (free version) as my antivirus software. I did the same thing with a new desktop PC six months ago. Without any add-ons or extensions, ads never pop-up, display, or otherwise run on my desktop. However, on the new laptop, with the same Firefox settings, I am seeing ads on many sites. The ads are unrelated to the site I'm visiting, and in some cases are a bit objectionable. I don't understand why the same settings don't produce the same results in Firefox on different computers. I've read about installing extensions or even another product to block ads, but if I didn't have to do that on the desktop, why do I have to do that on the laptop?

Greetings and felicitations!

Deprecating the ability to change keyboard shortcuts (read as: disable) is probably the most abhorrent thing to me about Quantum. I am sick and tired of losing work because I hit delete and Firefox randomly decides to go back a page rather than deleting a character in some text I'm writing.

Is this even possible anymore?

Please don't suggest the two addons out there that function in 65+. They simply do not function for what I need.

What I would like, if it is possible, is to know where all this is in config. I found how to disable browser.backspace_action, but I'm not sure where to look for the others.

A list would be great, or even a prefix/word to search for in config would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

PS - Why does moz seem so bizarrely intent on NOT allowing users to change these?

Updated Firefox to 65.0.1 yesterday now a number of websites do not work including firefox support site (Will not let me log in, had to download Opera just to post this issue.)

Examples include Facebook not loading all content or allowing me to follow links (Links do not work at all.)

Youtube can't play single videos (Again acts like link is not a link.) Playlists will somewhat work if you right click and open link in a new tab but only play about 5-10 seconds of a video before moving to a new one for another 5-10 seconds of play while also taking a lot longer than normal (more than the usual 2-3 seconds from before the upgrade) to start the next video link 10-15 seconds.

Would add info from "about:support" but it will not allow me to attach a pdf (The only way I can do that since "Automatically add" button reqires using Firefox and I can't right now(Not logging in.)

As stated before no log in ability on the support site here.

Most other sites I have tested are missing content or links randomly work or not with no real reason, at least any that I can figure some work some don't and some work some times but not others.

I have done a full un-install and re-install to see if that had any effect and it did not. Also this is the only change to my computer in a little over a month, just the update to Firefox 65.0.1.

Since upgrading windows N with the windows media pack, Firefox immediately crashes on opening various different websites - mostly video ones (Netflix, any youtube.com/watch...) but also mozilla support. Prior to installing the media pack, youtube videos would play but Netflix would not (but no crashes).

Problem persists in safe mode, with DRM content allowed and not, and with hardware acceleration disabled. Flaser player and video drivers are installed and up to date; Microsoft Silverlight is also installed.

Most recent crash report IDs are:

Like the title says, when I right-click, a left-click is triggered immediately, which usually results in the "back" arrow in the context menu being clicked. This is quite annoying. I'm experiencing this issue on multiple different computers.

These computers have in common:

  • all run Linux (Arch Linux)
  • Kernel 4.20.7
  • Firefox version 65.0.1 (though I'm pretty sure I've had this issue in previous versions)
  • all Intel CPUs
  • all use Xorg (not Wayland)
  • all (I believe -- at least one, though) have the correct Intel video driver installed
  • I don't experience any other weird problems related to the mouse, screen, etc. in other applications.

What I've already tried:

  • safe mode: starting Firefox in safe mode does *not* solve the issue.
  • someone else on these forums had the same issue, and solved it by resetting the `layout.css.devPixelsPerPx` setting to -1. This does not work for me, as the setting was never anything but the default of -1.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I just did a Refresh to my Firefox 65, 32 bit. My OS is Windows 7. I held onto the previous legacy version as long as I could. When I did upgrade a month or so ago, a few legacy add ons carried over. With the refresh I just did, I lost one that I cannot recover from. The mailto allowed me to connect to an online website where I email from. Now I cannot assign that. The new mailto option only allows applications, not hyperlinks.

I used to be able to hit the mailto button and go to: https://webmail.centurylink.net/mail?view=compose&to=mailto%3A%3Fbody%3Dabout%253Ablank%26subject%3D#2

I think it was an add on I had. It seems that now that feature is incorporated into Firefox, with less flexibility.

I would like to find that add on and install it. I have researched and tried to adapt with the Firefox version but I cannot have the mailto set up the way I used to. I have visited the github site where legacy add ons were saved, but I haven't a clue how to find the mail to add on I used to have.

Thanks to this loss, my efficiency for emailing has regressed back to copy/paste instead of a easy click button.

To correct a problem in MS Word, Microsoft Support created a new Windows 10 profile on my laptop and reinstalled MS Office. Firefox is still on my laptop in the new profile, but its appearance is changed. It has lost all the profile data from the old Win 10 profile. I have looked at the articles under "Manage preferences and add-ons" but I don't think they solve my issue because I don't have a backup of my Firefox profile. Or, if I still do, I don't know how to find it on the old Windows profile, which is still on my laptop.

I had a lot of bookmarks, add-ons and preferences that I would like to retrieve for my browser. Is that possible?
