I recently got a new computer running W11. As always, the first thing I did was download Firefox and set it to my default browser. Then I logged in and synced. Firefox picked up some things - like my passwords, but not a single instance of history, not a single bookmark, or the tiles of frequent websites seen on the new tab page. Thinking something had gone wrong, I uninstalled FF and then reinstalled it. No change. As I was researching what to do when FF syncing fails, I realized that FF is not saving any data in history. NONE. I fiddled around with this situation for about five hours and it showed NO history of websites/pages visited. I went to a few common websites by name, typing www.ebay.com into the search bar (for example) and since that was a website I had now "frequented" I expected it to show up as a tile in the new tab page, but it didn't, even after closing it and opening it several more times to demonstrate (to FF) its frequent-ness.

What could be causing all this? I assume some settings in about:config are off, but can't find any information searching the web. No matter how I state the question, I only get responses like what to do if FF doesn't sync, NOT what to do if FF doesn't collect any history. Honestly, this is a standalone private home computer. It doesn't actually HAVE to sync with work. But it's not very useful to have a browser that collects NO history.

After a re-start, my Firefox browser on a Dell laptop lost all history and has since also not been collecting websites visited. When opening a new tab, the shortcuts and recently visited websites are also gone and no longer being collected. My CCleaner recently updated itself to a new version but I unchecked the delete history for Firefox (which treacherously is clicked by default - I fell into that trap before). Happy to blame the new CCleaner but that would not explain why history is not being collected now - to me the fault seems to lie with Firefox instead. Another possibility that went through my mind: Is Microsoft sabotaging users of Windows 11 to force them to buy new? PS: Under "Privacy", "History", the setting is "Firefox will remember history", as it always has been and should be. But it has forgotten all previous history and it is no longer collecting any new history either!

Restore previous session, in history, is an important setting. It has now disappeared completely as an option even though restore windows and tabs is ticked. Need to go deeper than the superficial help .

This is a new issue, starting yesterday, 09-30-2025. When I went to delete some (NOT all) websites in my browsing history, and after using the X to remove said websites, and then when that didnt work, I pressed on the website & hit the delete tab... thinking I had deleted all I had wanted deleted, then went back into my history to make sure they were removed, and I discovered that ALL of my "deletions" were back, and, in fact had "children". There are over 180 deletions that are back in my history. They keep growing! I've tried 5 different times to delete those that I longer want in my history to no avail. What has happened here? Thank you for your assistance with this frustrating issue.

I reported an issue with Firefox 143.0.2 where History would not stay deleted. Same problem as reported by Bojan Nesic 5days ago. It looks like the bug is fixed/closed. (Sorry- this is first time I've reported a bug). I updated to 143.0.3 but bug remains. Is there another update? Thanks

Recently, after I manually delete selected pages on Firefox browser History, those pages keep coming back in History after I close and then reopen Firefox browser. I have not changed any settings. This just started a few days ago. I have always manually deleted History and/or selected pages and not had this problem before. Thanks for your assistance.

Firefox keeps restoring deleted history on my cell phone.This option is not available to me in settings: To prevent Firefox from restoring deleted history after a closure or crash, disable the "Open previous windows and tabs" setting in Settings > General under the Startup section. Also, about:config does not work on my cell phone.

The Firefox mobile app for Android won't let me highlight more than one word when I hold down to select and copy text. Within the last week, tabs I delete from history reappear the next time I open my browser history.

Since the 143.0 update, when I delete links I no longer want in History, they all come back the next time Firefox is opened. Any help with this little problem will be appreciated. Thanks, Roy I have a Samsung S24 running Android 15 with August update.

I am asking for this to be FIXED!!! I have ALWAYS had "Delete browser history opon close" set. However, now this latest update DISREGARDS MY SETTING and KEEPS my browser's history (shows in history tab now) ! I am OUTRAGED and ready to end my use of Firefox! So many of the recent updates IGNORE HOW and WHY we use Firefox.
