Please let me the support for Silverlight applications on Mozilla Firefox. Since, Google Chrome has been restricting usage of Silverlight from Chrome v42 with few workaround and completely eliminating the usage after v.45 . I want to if Firefox is also planning anything similar, on the usage of Silverlight plugins and application that support Silverlight. Also, let me know if there is any workaround if the support is stopped.

Thanks in advance !

I got one of those pop ups, your FF is loading slow, so I said ok, then kicked me into updating sync... I had trouble logging in change my PW twice, and it worked once then not again. Soooo, questions are: 1) are firefox account and sync account the same? 2) do they have different pws? 3) do I log out of them separately or together?

4) how do I tell if I am in new Sync or old. [first time I tried there was no "disconnect" on my sync page]

Once I get accounts and PWs straightened out, I'll be back with more questions.

Sorry to be critical, but I think many of the faq and help pages are close to worthless. They are carrying too many assumptions about what you already know if you ask a question. One solution, ANYTHING mentioned [e.g. sync, account, logon, usename, etc] should have a <learn more> link.

thanks look forward to answer[s] tom

Hi All,

Recently I noticed that downloading files using file manager is stopping at random times giving an error that hard drive can't keep up with the incoming data. I checked the Task Manager and noticed high I/O read bytes for FF. I was monitoring this for some time. After initial opening the amount of read data increased to 200MB within 5 seconds. Then when I was using the FF it increased to 1GB. On one occasion it reached 16BG within 4 minutes. This is causing my disk to slow down. The amount of data read I think depends on how many tabs I have open and how intensively I'm using FF.

Can someone help me to identify what is causing this?

Latest version of FF is used Add-ons and plug ins up-to-date Windows 10 x64

Thanks

EMET and Firefox have coexisted peacefully for as long as I have used both of them --- until now. O/S in all cases is Windows 7 Professional, SP1, with all patches current. I ‘ve been running EMET v5.2 without any known issues. Based on security notices from various sources, Firefox was upgraded to 41.0. Immediately after this upgrade, EMET started blocking Firefox execution on five systems where Firefox was upgraded. EMET reported the following error: “EMET detected Caller mitigation and will close the application: firefox.exe”. Screenshot of this message is attached. I’m not sure if the actual problem exists in EMET or Firefox. A person on the Microsoft EMET team suggested installing EMET 5.5 BETA. Regarding Norton Security, it is always being updated by LiveUpdate. The onset timing of this problem did not coincide with a Norton update. It did coincide EXACTLY with when Firefox was updated from v40.0.3 to v41.0 with EMET 5.2 (pre 03/16/2015) running. The Firefox v41.0.1 upgrade did nothing to change this problem (“EMET detected Caller mitigation and will close the application: firefox.exe”). Firefox appears to be left in the system as a comatose zombie process. I tried EMET 5.2 (post 3-16-2015) and EMET 5.5 BETA. The caller mitigation problem carried across all referenced EMET versions. I tried turning off both ROP [caller] options for Firefox, but it made no difference. While removing and installing different versions of EMET, I tried running Firefox v41.0.1 when EMET was uninstalled from the system. Firefox ran with EMET removed from the system. Currently I am running EMET 5.5 BETA with Firefox sidelined right now on a test system. EMET will not let Firefox run at this time. Has anyone else had this experience?? If so, how was the issue fixed?? Thanks.

I'm using firefox for windows 7. My firefox now has version 41.0.1. This problem, however, was happened in older versions too.

When I visit https://www.google.com/, then drop down the menu [Tools]-->[Page Info]-->click the [Security] icon-->click the [View Certificate] button. In the Cerftificate Viewer dialog, click the [Details] tab and it will show the Certificate Hierarchy tree. The tree shows like below:

GeoTrust Global CA <- Google Internet Authority G2 <- google.com

But when I use "openssl.exe s_client" command to test www.google.com:https, it shows below hierarchy:

Equifax Secure Certificate Authority <- GeoTrust Global CA <- Google Internet Authority G2 <- www.google.com

Does it mean that the certificate "GeoTrust Global CA" is still a intermediate certificate which is issued by Equifax but firefox think it is a root CA ?

I checked the public key of the certificates "GeoTrust Global CA" retrieved from both firefox and openssl, and they are the same as below:

BEGIN PUBLIC KEY-----

MIIBIjANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEFAAOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEA2swYYzD99BcjGlZ+W988 bDjkcbd4kdS8odhM+KhDtgPpTSEHCIjaWC9mOSm9BXiLnTjoBbdqfnGk5sRgprDv gOSJKA+eJdbtg/OtppHHmMlCGDUUna2YRpIuT8rxh0PBFpVXLVDviS2Aelet8u5f a9IAjbkU+BQVNdnARqN7csiRv8lVK83Qlz6cJmTM386DGXHKTubU1XupGc1V3sjs 0l44U+VcT4wt/lAjNvxm5suOpDkZALeVAjmRCw7+OC7RHQWa9k0+bw8HHa8sHo9g OeL6NlMTOdReJivbPagUvTLrGAMoUgRx5aszPeE4uwc2hGKceeoWMPRfwCvocWvk +QIDAQAB

END PUBLIC KEY-----

Maybe this is a bug that firefox will miss the intermediate certificate when it encounter the circumstances like above.

Firefox has been depreciating extensions and native add-ons in favor of high level JS add-ons; and moving away from Adobe flash and NNAPI support. All this is culminating in making it difficult to support Microsoft ClickOnce applications on FireFox (and Chrome) platforms.

There are two issues at hand: 1/ To launch an application that will initiate the ClickOnce .NET launcher 2/ To launch the installed application

Both from the web application. To put this into context the business application launches a scanning device for a Saas application. I have been using Microsoft Net Framework Assistant extension for many years and recently Firefox admin has removed it. To further compound the problem; Chrome and Firefox are both dropping NNAPI:

3/ How to launch on the OSX platform (not a Click-Once app)

Chrome (yes I know this is a Firefox forum) is going PPAPI. Firefox has no plans for PPAPI - stating that WebAPI should be sufficient for mime support. However, in context of Click-Once I am not sure.

So, I am reaching out to you. I am a developer and am not adverse to writing my own solution if you can point me in the right direction for the technologies I need to use. Any advice and support will be greatly appreciated.

The question simply put: How can I launch a Click-Once package from within a Firefox hosted web page and have it install and launch the application? I am OK with asking the user to install an extension/plugin/add-on (but given the industry - this will either have to be a commercial solution or one I write).

Hey all, The Developer version of Opera now includes a free and unlimited built-in VPN. I have clung to Firefox for years because of its features and open-source nature but Opera is now making a very good case to switch as a VPN seems a very important addition to a browser. Are there any knows plans for Firefox to develop a similar feature in the coming releases? So far, no add-on has really convinced me of its reliability in this matter. Best, Lou

today i created a new profile to FF to start over. i noticed that some config settings i set a few years ago (and kept them with each upgrade) no longer work/exist. FF seems to somehow kept them in his "memory" and they working fine. i tried to create them manually but FF doesn't recognize them.

these are the config entries in question: browser.tabs.animate browser.fullscreen.animate

so i want to know if there is a complete list by Mozilla of all config entries so i can take a look.

I refer to the classic case where I have an SSD and don't want to "consume" it by watching endless videos on YouTube (and/or other sites) that are being buffered to the disk. Or does the buffering of such videos occur in RAM by default in Firefox?

I also want to speed up Firefox at the maximum.

What are the downsides of having the entire cache in RAM and, if none, why isn't the default instalation with no cache at all on the disk (browser.cache.disk.enable = false) ?

What is the best configuration of Firefox (regarding cache) on a laptop with the an SSD and 4 GB of RAM?

Thanks in advance.
