Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

Thank you guys for your emails. I did check plugins and for flashwave and java and I am updated (while office, picasa and nitro are "unknown"). I have been on the faq link, I started there with the instructions to install the extension for shumway in firefox. But this is alien territory for me, I am just following the instructions (with faith but no knowledge). THANKS!

Hi vickymarq, I think the confusion is that the difference between the current release version of Firefox (25.0.1) and Nightly (early test version of Firefox 28) isn't spelled out clearly. Here is my understanding, although I have not tested it myself:

Firefox 25: you need to use the extension, there is no setting in about:config

Firefox 28: no extension needed, but you need to turn it on in about:config

Hi jscher2000. Thank you for your reply, I guess I got confused between the firefoxes... Would you be so kind to explain what "use the extension" means? What i did was to click on "download shumway" from here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/979793#answer-509708 and followed their link to "configure the extension". I assumed shumway installed itself and needed some tuning. What should i do instead? THANKS!

Hi vickymarq, I'm not sure how the extension works.

After installing it, when I visited the Adobe test page (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/), the version number box had a Shumway banner in the lower right (and the wrong version of Flash, but that sort of makes sense). However, Youtube just displays the message to activate Flash and Shumway doesn't seem to fire up there.

I've uninstalled the extension for now.

Hi jscher. I tested the page you included in your message and i also see the shumway box (but underneath the flash banner). .. I guess I stuck with flash to watch you tube...

cheers!
