hello kermitlewis, i'm not familiar with the exact way in the australis redesign to access the sidebar, but presumably the old shortcut ctrl+h will still work to open it.

You can access some menu items via the 3 bar button at the right end of the Navigation Toolbar.

There is also a toolbar button for the developer tools that you can enable in the options of the extension (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and a few other settings (tabs on top).

ctrl+h still works. Thanks. I'm still disgusted with the changes, but that gets me where I'm wanting to go. I appreciate it.

Hi kermitlewis, are you using the UX preview? I think I saw in a video somewhere that tapping the Alt key will display the old menu bar above the tabs so you can access the View menu (Toolbars, Sidebars, other good things).

F10 also still works to bring up the menu bar or right clicking toolbar area.
Hiding the Navigation Toolbar is no longer possible.

You should get used to using the "Customize and Control Nightly" button with the three bars that replaces the Firefox menu button and is customizable.

I downloaded the add on, which helped. But the three bar button doesn't provide all the options that the old setup did. I'm sure the developer tools are great for those who are skilled at that sort of thing, but for the rest of us it's confusing and frustrating.

Which items in particular are you missing?

Did you try the Customize button at the bottom that allows to drag items to the drop down and reorder existing items?

You can't access the history sidebar without opening the menu toolbar, whereas you could on the old setup. At least, that's what I thought, until I learned about CTRL+H. But I imagine that lots of users like me don't know about CTRL+H, and I've been using Firefox for years. And why is there no way to simply click to open the sidebar, without using the keyboard? It was much easier the old way. Also, in the old setup, it was easy to click the orange box and restore previously closed tabs or previously closed windows. Even with the add-on, that doesn't work. The layout of the bar that opens below the three bar symbol is confusing. You can't search your history there. And there's an ease to scrolling through all my history that doesn't exist with opening history in the three bar setup. I finally found a way to open the bookmark sidebar simply by clicking the proper buttons; why isn't that available for the history sidebar?

So now that I know about CTRL+H, I can get basically where I need to go. But it's a poor layout, and confusing. I'm sure some people will love it, but I will have to differ with them.

There is a toolbar button to open the history sidebar that you can drag from the toolbar palette onto the Navigation Toolbar if you want to, just like previously was possible.
There are two History buttons available, one with an ellipses and Ctrl+H indicating that a window will open that shows the content of the History menu and a second button that open the history sidebar.

Okay, it wasn't there before, and wasn't working that way, but it is now. Much better. Thanks for your help.

Oops, sorry. I forgot that some of the icons are added by the Classic Theme Restorer extension.

It is good to know about CTRL-H, but can you please restore one-click functionality to the history button? I am used to doing it that way since the first versions of Firefox. I don't know why you would take this away.
