Why Favicons aren't displayed and no addon can solve this problem ?
This problem occurs in Firefox and Nightly. Is it normal our it's a bug. I find favicons useful and I hope to see them again like they exist in IE or other browser. Thanks for answer.

Does the website have a Favicon?
When you click on a website without a favicon, does a favicon load on the bookmark?
When did this issue first start?
What is displayed on the bookmark instead of a favicon?
Traditionally, Firefox will display the favicon on the tab, not the address bar. It should work for most sites.
Thanks for your reply. I don't know if the site has any favicon here's what I type to reach the site: http://gestionbox.lan it's a site to manage a box which is used for internet , phone tv and wi-fi access. How to know if a site has a favicon ?
Here are two things you can check:
(1) Does this file exist? This is an old convention not used on all sites.
http://gestionbox.lan/favicon.ico
(2) If you view the source of the page (while viewing the page press Ctrl+u) and do a find (Ctrl+f) for the word icon, do you see anything like the following? If so, this link tag gives the expected location and file name of the favicon.
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://gestionbox.lan/somename.ico" />
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="/somename.png" />
If you don't find any of the above, then probably it doesn't have a favicon. Have you compared IE?
Does the about:addons page show a favicon on the tab?
Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
If the website has a favicon, it will have an icon where the Firefox logo is on the left tabs.
If the website does not have a favicon, the tab will look like one of the right ones.

First, thanks for your promt reply. Secondly, the file "http://gestionbox.lan/favicon.ico" doesn't exist. Thirdly, in the source of the site above, NO line contains "icon" and when using IE, it displays the same icon as that contained in the IE shortcut i.e. an earth. Endly, this brings to me a question: Why isn't in the properies of any tab (or bookmark) a text box and a browser button allowing the user to insert there an icon adress? This seem to have existed in an add-on named "bookmark favicon changer" but it doesn't work anymore. Regards
Hi michel.bertholle, I can't think of an officially supported way to change a favicon.
Based on what I have read, the Bookmark Favicon Changer needs a substantial rewrite to work in Firefox 22 and later; the original developer has declined to do it since she isn't using Firefox any more. Someone else with a strong interest would have to step up.
Perhaps there is a way to inject an arbitrary site icon into a page, but for security reasons, I hope that's not especially easy...

This is a wonderful idea.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.
That addon is almost impossible to recreate due to the API for it was removed in Firefox 22, I think.
thanks to all of you who tried to help me with my favicons problem. I couldn't imagine how it was difficult to bring back this functionality. Unfortunately i'm unable to write any code line, I think i'm too old to learn a programming language else it whould have been a plasure to, as we say in France, "bring my stone to the building"! thanks again
