I just updated to Firefox 23.0 for Macs and installed Flash & Silverlight updates; now Google's "search tools" & image search don't work properly. Suggestions?

When I click on "search tools," the options are no longer displayed (for ex., the tool that allows one to do a date-limited search or to search for videos of varying lengths). I happened to have one search page open prior to updating, and the drop-down menus for the search tools still appear on that page, but if I click on them, the menu doesn't drop down, so I can't change the options. When I do an image search, the results page only displays 20 or so images, and the rest of the results show up only as grey rectangles w/out any image. The search tools are working normally in the other browsers I have installed, but Firefox is my default browser (and I'm happy with that), so I'd like to fix the problem. I'm not sure whether it's associated w/ the updates I made yesterday, but that's the only thing I can think of that's changed. Prior to that, the search tools were working properly.

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Thanks so much for the help! I didn't want to clear my history (as I find it useful), so I just cleared the cache and the cookies separately, and now Google's search options are working again. I really appreciate your having taken the time to respond.
