I am trying to download an youtube video of large size. due to some reasons suddenly i shutdown my pc. After restart pc i am trying to resume that download file. but there is no resume option there. so please put resume option in downloads (ctrl+j). kindly do the needful.

Try these steps:

  1. Move the old .part partial download and the final file without the .part that has size 0 to another location.
  2. Start a new download and pause it, don't close Firefox.
  3. Copy the two files (.part and 0 byte final) that you moved above back to the download location to replace the new files that were created.
  4. Resume the download in Firefox.

If that doesn't work then the server may not support resuming.

we know these steps. but we need resume opton. are firefox trying to remove the user friendly options. this is a stupid thing

If you pause a download then you should be able to resume the download, even after a restart.
If the download is interrupted by other causes then Firefox doesn't resume such a download without this extra effort to make Firefox think that this is a paused download.

The built-in Firefox Download Manager only has some basic features, so if you encounter this situation often then you should consider a more sturdy external Download Manager.
