Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
5. Now click the Clear now button.

Thanks Tyler, thinking about it, a cookie issue caused me to have a different problem once with Facebook in XP. Facebook actually looked ok but Yahoo didn't when I first put my computer on. I was going to have a play around and accidentally set myself in private browsing mode which actually seems to have fixed things. I haven't tried adding Adblock Plus yet. Aside from the fact it seems to work a bit slower, I think I'll leave it like this for now. When I get fed up, I'll try playing with the cookies.

I think I am having the same problem. My wife and I just bought new laptops which both have windows 8. We had no issues with firefox for a few weeks and then on the same day we got this same problem. We can clear the cache and the problem goes away but it comes back about 4 hours later. Originally when this problem happened she was on firefox 20 and i was on firefox 14. I downgraded hers to 14, because I hadn't had that problem yet, but then a few minutes later I got the same problem. I have re-installed firefox, I have reset it, I have deleted my profile and created a new one, and I have upgraded my version to the latest release. None of that has permanently solved the problem. We own a small company and everyone uses firefox extensively and only the new laptops with Windows 8 are having this issue.

A little more about the problem: clearing cache temporarily fixes the problem. Problem Re-occurs about every 4 hours (the software we use for work is online, so we use it extensively). Hitting ctrl+F5 will also fix the problem for that page only. On some pages it seems like some javascript files are loading while others files are not. For example in firebug i am getting script errors where the page is not recognizing the JQUERY references because it is not loaded, so the page is reading the script that uses Jquery, but not the Jquery source file?

Hi, sorry for the delay, I've been offline for a while. I had wondered about it being javascript related. I haven't had chance to play around too much as I've been having Window 8 intenet usage issues (I have a limited package and Win8 ate it all). I'm still using private browsing but do intend to have a play around, it doesn't look like I have Java on this laptop though that hasn't caused me problems like this on other machines.

I'll update if I have any success with anything.

It was with the Samsung support center on my computer. I don't know if you have a Samsung but if you do then that is your problem, if not then this isn't your solution.

So far, all I've done is uninstall the Support Centre and all seems ok now. Hopefully it will stay that way. I don't know what the point of the Support Centre was as it told me stuff that wasn't correct and everything else is also covered by things in the control panel anyway.

samsung is one thing - anyone with a HP pavilion G6?

I don't mean to bump up this old post, but +1 me to this list.

My personal website and other web apps that I use all the time stopped working when I got my Windows 8 PC. It's not a Samsung, it's an ASUS Ultrabook. No fancy plugins. Tried them disabled, tried fresh install with no plugins, tried new profiles... all nothing.

I recently changed media.windows-media-foundation.enabled to false, which seemed to fix the Vine problem. Yet I still can't get certain jQuery elements on select webpages to work properly. These elements work on Internet Explorer but not Firefox.

Anyone have any more answers?
