When I load Mozilla 20.0 why does it load IE instead?
I have downloaded Mozilla 20.0 and have gone through the installation process. When I select to open the application, IE opens up and I don't even have that on my computer. I have uninstalled the program and tried to re-install but the same thing happens again.
Can somebody please help me?

No way! Let's first check your Firefox shortcut. If you right-click, choose Properties, and check the target, does it show a logical path to firefox.exe?
What version of Windows is on the computer with the problem (is the one you posted from)?
I have Windows 7 and yes this is the comp I'm trying to load it on.
I just re-loaded it and this is what comes up when I select properties:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
And the same thing happened, so I uninstalled it again.
So the shortcut is correct now, with Firefox 17, and when you upgrade to Firefox 20, it breaks? This is just the ordinary installer, e.g.,
Help > About Firefox > Check for Updates
No that is the shortcut when I load 20.0.
I will try the check updates way now.
I just tried, and IE came up again.
IE has improved a lot in recent years. Perhaps it's time to become reacquainted?
Let's try Safe Mode. If you hold the Shift key when launching Firefox, do you get the two-button dialog (Safe Mode / Reset)? Try Safe Mode. Do you get Firefox?
No it still doesn't work. I may just have to wait until the next update of Firefox comes out or hope that it finally works.
Thanks for your help!
This post has the steps for a "clean" re-install of Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/955471#answer-423757
The same thing happened again. It has the Mozilla icon but when I double click IE comes up.
Best prank ever or very weird malware, is my next thought.
I downloaded the link from Mozilla and updated through 17.0. And nothing is showing up when I scan.
Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Mozilla is done....smarty pants slacker programmers ruined it. I cant open the internet browser; all I get is the mobile app on my laptop. FUKED!!!!!
Hi c5boi, mobile app? Can you start a new question describing your system and what you have installed? There's an "Ask a Question" link at the top of the page.
