Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

hi

thank you for replying

im quite happy to uninstall FF and re install new as the above seems above my IT paygrade LOL . the ''''''ONLY'''''' thing i want to save is my bookmarks . i have backed them up as that JSON file . if i uninstall and re install and then import the saved file will my bookmarks be the exact same as they currently are ?

my one pc uses AVG paid version and the laptop uses symantec paid version

i havent tried safe mode yet

its weird cause one 'solution' i have is to work for a few hours - like 4 then close FF and continue for another 4 and it is ok like that . its just sustained use on both pc makes it freeze

(im wondering if its gmail causing this )

i forgot to mention i also use this http://www.trusteer.com/Products/Trusteer-Rapport-for-Online-Banking to protect all my sites i use passwords for . tomorrow ill disable it for the day and see what happens

i disabled it and my AV and it still freezes

can you clarify my bookmarks question then ill re install

thanks

You should be fine with a JSON backup.
Note that restoring a JSON backup will replace all current bookmarks, so you can consider to create an HTML backup as well.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Same situation over here, everyday, every few hours. I don't see why from all the crash reports received every day from all over the world and for the past few years, Mozilla still can't figure out possible reasons and come up with a stable version. From 3.6 up, albeit all the upgrade effort, there has never been a version steady enough for frequent use. What a disappointment!

i have posted a question to my group which i moderate , many said FF freezes their pc's

i have had to stop using it unfortunately .

the fixes above are just too technical for me :-(

i will keep checking for newer versions weekly in the hope a stable one comes

Firefox crashes almost every day after coming out of sleep mode. Sometimes, it recovers and sometimes it doesn't. Last 5 crash reports:
